That we always need Volunteers. Did You Know?? The Club has relied on a fairly small committee for numerous years and as the Committee Members children get older and progress out of mini or junior sections these committee members will, obviously, leave the committee. We are sure you appreciate how the club is run and may take it for granted that there will be someone there every Sunday to run the bar, man the car parks, cook the sausages, sell you the kit, sell the kids their sweets, keep an eye on the changing rooms etc. etc. These jobs are all done by volunteers and for the club to continue to run WE NEED YOUR HELP.. Are you a Fixer (Builder, Plummer, and Electrician)? If you feel that you could give any time to help the running of the Club, please speak to any Mini & Junior Section contact, your coach or team manager. That the bar is open every Sunday. The bar is a great place to get to know other parents, other members of the club and to talk about how well the team has played, etc. It is open every Sunday whether there are matches or just training. As well as Tues/Wed/Thurs 6pm to 10pm & Sat 12pm to 10pm. That the players get a free meal after playing a match. The club provides each player (Amps and opposition) with free food after they have played a match. The food is made available by our Catering Manager Jane Read, Age Groups assisting Jane on a rota. That the Clubhouse is available for private hire. The Clubhouse is available for Private Hire/Functions via Club Steward Keith Belcher That our First XV play in National League 2 Nth.. The First XV play Hm & Away Matches in National League 2 Nth, 3 levels down from the Premiership. Including ex ARUFC Mini & Youth Players, who started as U7 s.. That we have Social Rugby & Fitness for Dad & Mum.. The Vets, Extras & Bionics are always looking for that Dad with a bit of Gold dust on his boots.on a Saturday. Women s Rugby fitness on a Friday evening.

Child Protection (Safeguarding) Ampthill & District Community RUFC is committed to providing a safe environment for our players, coaches and parents. To ensure this we follow guidelines set out by the Rugby Union for the protection and involvement of children under 18 in our teams. Our Safeguarding Officers have attended relevant courses and their contact details are on page 2. Additionally, all coaches and other staff who are involved with the Mini & Youth section of the club are all DBS checked. If parents have any child protection issues or concerns they are advised to take them directly to the Club Safeguarding Officer s Colin Rempel colin.rempel@btinternet.com or 07827 922795 & Angharad Spavins spavs@hotmail.com or 07564 477767 rather than their child s coach. A copy of the RFU Safeguarding policy is available on the clubs website. The RFU guidelines on child protection can be found on the web at: http://www.rfu.com/pdfs/childprotection/cppolicytext.pdf Playing/Travel Insurance All Paid up Members are covered under the basic RFU Insurance Scheme for permanent disablement whilst playing for the Club; however Players are STRONGLY ADVISED to insure themselves through some sort of private scheme. DO NOT IGNORE THS ADVICE. For further details contact the Club Secretary on secretary@ampthillrufc.com All Paid up Members travelling to and from matches by coach, train or car which is organised by or under the direction of the insured Club is included in the RFU Accidental Death & Disability Insurance but its conditional on the return journey being direct. This means as follows Return travel means direct and shall not include stops or visits en route which are not considered to be necessary to the usual journey REMEMBER You Play Rugby at your Own Risk The Club accepts no responsibility any injury or more serious happening howsoever caused. This also applies to any person visiting the Club, or purely on the Club s land.

Valuables and Liabilities The club does not accept liability for the loss, damage or theft of personal belongings on the Club premises. It is advisable not to leave valuables (i.e. jewellery and watches) in kitbags in the changing rooms as these are not secure. If you have no choice but to bring valuables to the Club, we advise that you pass them to a coach or parent for safe-keeping. Cars parked in the club car parks, and all contents therein are left at the owner s risk and the club will accept no liability for loss or damage in respect thereof. Mouth Guards The club recommends that all players wear a mouth guard (U7 & U8 optional re TAG Rugby but recommend). Indeed it is likely that any player not wearing one of these essential pieces of kit will be turned away from training / matches by their coaches. This is in the interest of their own and others safety. Website The Mini & Youth section has its own pages on the club website which can be found on www.ampthillrufc.com where you can find contact information and match reports throughout the season plus a wealth of useful information about the club. In the information section is a library of documents which includes this pack and other forms including all of our policies which we expect everyone, player, parent, coach or helper to adhere to.

Club Kit Shop The Kit Shop will be open on most Sundays 10am to 12pm and Wednesday 6.30pm to 7.30pm. If you require kit at any other time, please contact Rae Marshall on 07703 354331 the shop manager on to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet at the club. Unfortunatly the Bar Staff don t have access to the Clubshop. The latest prices are available from the kit shop or on the club website. Payment is by cash, cheque, credit or debit card. Please note that Members Card can t be used for payment. The shop offers a wide range of second hand kit/boots which can be purchased at very low cost. This is a good way for new players to obtain kit without breaking the bank. Please consider donating your old kit to the shop cleaned please. The Club is also looking at moving Clubshop ordering online during the season. more details via website. To enable you to purchase easier and get delivered to you direct. What kit do I need? All players are expected to play in Ampthill shirts, these are not supplied unless either the coach or another parent from the team has successfully obtained sponsorship from an outside source. You will need to purchase: Playing Shirt, available from kit shop Mouthguard Black shorts, any make will be fine however Amps shorts are available from kit shop Socks, available from the kit shop Rugby or football boots, studs must meet the British kite mark standard (football studs are not acceptable). Replacement studs are available from the kit shop. All players must wear a mouthguard (optional for non-contact TAG Rugby U7/U8).

Mini Section up to Under 12s Whilst we cannot insist that players shower after they have played rugby, they WILL NOT be allowed into the club house unless they have changed out of dirty kit in very wet & muddy conditions. We would, however, encourage players to change as this helps them with good habits expected in the future. Junior Section Under 13s upwards We expect all players to change into trousers and a shirt (and, ideally, a club tie) after all games at home (your school shirts will be fine), and they are expected to travel in shirt (and, ideally, club tie) to all away games. Ties can be purchased from the club shop. Please join your committee in promoting pride in your club.

Club Behavioural Policy This policy is set up to create an environment where the children, parents and coaches all value, respect and encourage one another to build a happy, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Coaches and Team Managers will: Always be publicly open when working with children. Ensure development and fun comes first, winning second. When coaching contact skills, ensure safety first. Never coach law violations. Never overtly criticise players their confidence is paramount. Always reject the behaviour, not the player. Players will not be labelled as bad or naughty either to them or to someone else in their hearing. Give direction in a positive way; treat each player as an individual. Give players a clear idea of the behaviour expected and to follow it themselves. Players who break the rules will receive a warning. Praise good behaviour. Set limits, so that the players know that their behaviour will not be allowed to get out of control. Be consistent and be fair. Avoid being late for coaching sessions and/or matches. Work with parents/guardians, not against them. Involve them whenever possible e.g. encourage them to observe coaching sessions and support competitions Ensure the playing training area is fit for purpose before allowing children to participate in any activity. First Aid equipment should be available and appropriate First Aid cover be available before every session. Treat each player as an individual and ensure they are given equal opportunity to play. The Club has a Disciplinary Committee and any Member or official breaching the club behavioural policy or bringing the club into disrepute may be asked to attend a formal disciplinary hearing and can be subject to sanction by the Disciplinary Committee which may include expulsion.

Club Behavioural Policy cont Players will be encouraged to: Play for the fun of it, not just to please parents or coaches Bring appropriate kit and spare clothing for each training session and match. From U11s make sure they know what time they are expected to arrive for matches/training, the location and if relevant, drop off and collection points. From U13s - not to train or play with an existing injury. Prior to this, parents must make that judgement and inform the coach or team manager. Participate in all aspects of the training session or match, not just the parts that interest them the most. Listen to the coach. Understand that inappropriate behaviour will be challenged and dealt with. Recognise the coach s authority. Understand the spirit of sportsmanship. Above all, remember that it should be fun. The Club has a Disciplinary Committee and any Member or official breaching the club behavioural policy or bringing the club into disrepute may be asked to attend a formal disciplinary hearing and can be subject to sanction by the Disciplinary Committee which may include expulsion. Parents will be encouraged to: Be familiar with this Behaviour Policy. Not to force an unwilling child to participate in sports. Ensure that his or her child has the appropriate kit and spare clothing for each training session and match. Make sure that they know what time and where training sessions/matches are taking place. Not to publicly question or criticise a referee s judgement and never their honesty. Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good play by your team and by members of the opposing team. Observe coaching sessions/matches at all times. Where appropriate, assisting the coaches when requested e.g. with moving equipment etc. Participate in voluntary activities required at the club when it is your age groups rotation e.g. car park duty, kitchen duty, BBQ duty, bar duty, etc.

Club Behavioural Policy cont Age Groups to Rota on an alphabetical basis, so All do their share. Volunteers are part of Ampthill RUFC s success as a Family Club Make sure that the club has correct contact details and emergency contact information. Be involved in club social activities. Share concerns regarding the club with committee members if they have them. Remember that children should be involved in rugby for their enjoyment, not yours. Encourage their efforts. The Club has a Disciplinary Committee and any Member or official breaching the club behavioural policy or bringing the club into disrepute may be asked to attend a formal disciplinary hearing and can be subject to sanction by the Disciplinary Committee which may include expulsion.
