Patrol Equipment required on each sled Scout Handbook Patrol Flag Compass First Aid Kit Paper and Pencil/Pen Pocket knive(s) Backpacking or small cooking stove with fuel Flint & Steel Fire starter (wood shavings, dryer lint, etc.) Kindling Tarp minimal 8 X10 Water 1 gallon Rope for lashings (six 2 lengths) Long length of rope (15 ) Wood to lash 2 (two) hockey sticks Duct Tape Mess Kit Chop Sticks for each patrol member Materials for cooking clean-up (dish detergent, paper towels, etc.) Blanket Several neckerchiefs (four) Material to fashion splints
Stations 1. Ice Fishing All Scouts in the Patrol attempt to catch as many fish as possible. The highest number of fish that each Scout has succeeded in catching becomes the Patrol score. Maximum score = 10 points. 2. Olympic Food Stand Patrol must bring water to a boil using their camp stove. Add Ramen Soup to the water. Using chopsticks, the Patrol members must eat the ramen. Proper clean up counts. Maximum score = 10 points. 3. Ice Hockey Patrol lashes two hockey sticks. Each patrol member attempts to score a goal. Maximum points for Lashings = 5 points. Every Patrol member scores a goal = 5 points. Total maximum score = 10 points. 4. Locate the Olympic Village Using a compass and the coordinates provided, locate the Olympic Village. Once the Patrol has located the village, a second set of coordinates will help locate the patrol flag. Locate the village = 5 points. Locate the flag = 5 points. Total maximum = 10 points. 5. Cross country skiing Using the multi-person skis provided, navigate the slalom course. Every patrol member must navigate the course so multiple trips may be required. Every position on the skis must be occupied each trip. Percentage of patrol members completing the course makes up total score. Maximum points = 10 points. 6. Light the Olympic torch. Using flint and steel, build a fire to light your torch. Walk the path with a relay of four Patrol members while keeping the flame burning. Maximum points = 10 points. 7. Blindfolded figure skating Patrol Leader leads Patrol through a maze with verbal instructions. Patrol will stop five times to perform figure skating moves: wave hands in air, jump, turn in a circle, jump & turn, bow. Maximum points 10 points. Scoring at the discretion of the station master.
8. Timed sled race --- Each patrol runs three heats. One Scout rides, four Scouts pull. Every Scout participates in at least one heat. Fastest time is recorded in competition for overall champion. 9. Freeze-bee Frisbee golf Patrol plays four holes of frisbee golf. Every patrol member plays at least one hole. Every hole is a par 3, complete the course in 12 tries or less = 10 points. 10. Ice Rescue One patrol member is victim. Patrol has five minutes to rescue the victim and another three minutes to give first aid. Two points for acting by the victim, 5 points for successful rescue, 3 points for First-Aid. If first rescue is not successful, patrol can try again for 80% of maximum points. 11. Tomahawk Challenge The Keystone Capital District s signature event comes to Klondike 2018. Scouts attempt to hit the targets using tomahawks. Maximum score = 10 points.
