Provisional Entry 13 different federations have registered for the event. In terms of number of teams we have made this summary: Event Men s team Women s team Mixed team Senior 7 10 9 Junior 5 7 5 Competition format At the 9th European Championships the competition format will be slightly different from the former championships. We have made a comparison below so you can learn the new format and prepare the gymnast in the best way. Former competition format To previous competitions a team had a running order of practice just before the competition in one discipline and then a new practice in a new discipline. This was a rhythm of practice floor competition floor, practice tumbling competition tumbling, practice trampet competition trampet. The new competition format To this competition a team will do its full practice in all disciplines in the same rotation as it will compete and then go to competition in that specific rotation. The rhythm will be practice floor, tumbling and trampet competition floor, tumbling and trampet. The competition will be running in rotations of either 4, 5, 6, or 7 teams. Hereafter a new rotation begins with the rest of the teams (4, 5, 6, or 7 teams) depending on the number of teams in the competition in total. As an example, if the competition consists of 8 teams in total it will be split in two rotations with 4 teams in each. If a team withdraws from a competition the rotation order and times will be the same. It will then give some breaks in the competition where the withdrawn team should have performed. This ensures that the competing teams will have same routine as they have practiced. 2
The practice will begin approximately 1 hour before competition starts. This gives a team about 20-30 minutes from the end of practice until the competition starts for the team. This will ensure the team enough time to get from the practice to the competition hall and prepare properly for their performance in competition. During the competition the teams will have a dedicated area so the gymnast can change dressing, rest and do minor warm up routines. The area is located in the basement of the competition hall and just outside of the competition arena. We have made the schedules below to show how a competition will run. It is made with 10 minutes for all three disciplines in competition and 10 minutes for each discipline in the practice. The schedule for the championships is published after drawing of lots in august and will be included in bulletin no. 3. Equipment For the Championships the UEG Equipment Regulative 2004 is effective. Message from President of the UEG TeamGym Committee:: Although we have been trying to upgrade the equipment directives and in particular the standards for trampets, we have been unable to get them finalized for this Championships. We are therefore continuing with the 2004 Directives. The committee has declared that the MD Super Elite and the Dorado are both acceptable under these regulations. As the LOC and organizers have an agreement for MD to supply the official equipment only and there are no performance specifications, it has been agreed that it would be unfair if teams were not allowed to bring their own trampets this year, if necessary. In the unlikely event that a team wish to use a different trampet to these, they need to inform the organizers in advance and complete the relevant form. I hope that this will be the last time we allow teams to bring their own trampets. Keith Hughes President UEG TG TC LOC has an exclusive agreement with Eurogym Equipment that ensure an identic setup in both the training hall and competition hall. This means that we can provide all teams with the best equipment during the championships. For the trampet we will use the new MD Super Elite and have both a 40 springs and a 36 springs available. The tumbling track will be with a steel frame. The color of the floor will be blue. Further information about the equipment for these championships is available here: http://eurogym.dk/index.php?id=209 5
