Basketball - Bandit Rules NEW RULE FOR 2014/2015 There are to be no parents at the scorer table. League will provide scorer and scorekeeper. Assistant coach can keep unofficial book on bench. If head coach would like parent to keep book the parent must be in bleachers. Official scorer runs official book. Every player is to play one half of the game (14 minutes) of which one quarter must be uninterrupted, no excuses. No player is to play in more than three quarters (each player must sit out one complete uninterrupted quarter). If a coach does not abide by this rule, he will be warned the first offense, second violation will result in a one game suspension, third violation will result in termination. If a team has six or less players both sides get free substitutions. Meaning no kid should sit out an entire quarter. However all kids should play at least half of the game and all kids should sit at least half a quarter. With 6 players no kid should play entire game. If a player shows up before the second quarter begins, he is required to play one half of the game. If the player shows up after the second quarter begins, the players is only required to play one quarter. 8.51 Foot Baskets Youth size basketballs, 27.5 Four 7 minute quarters with a running clock, except clock will be stopped for timeouts and shooting fouls. The clock will be stopped the last two minutes of the fourth quarter for any infractions, out of bounds or substitutions, etc. One minute break between quarters and three minutes at halftime. Timeouts limited to 30 seconds. 2 minute overtime, 1 minute double overtime, sudden death for triple overtime 4 time-outs per team (one additional for overtime) 5 fouls per player Game starts with jump ball, second half starts with possession arrow, overtime starts with jump ball All baskets count two points, foul shots one point (no three point baskets) Two free throws plus the ball will be awarded as a result of a technical Free throws to be taken from the front circle (there is a yellow line in the lane) Defense plays inside the three point arc for the first three quarters and will be allowed to play a half court defense in the fourth quarter. If in the opinion of the referee, a team is intentionally holding the ball outside the arc to run the clock, the referee will give that team a warning and they will have five seconds to get the ball inside the arc, if the team does not do so, then the referees can instruct the opposing team to go outside the arc. If a team continues to intentionally hold the ball outside the arc, the team will be accessed a technical foul. Guarding outside the three point area will result in 1 warning per team, the second offense will result in a 1 technical, unless the above rule applies. Referees have option to just award ball to offense if they feel violation occurred due to accidental touching of ball and not a wilful disregard for rule. Kids will be called for traveling (warning first game) Offense to be called for 5 second lane violation (warning first game) Coaches to set good example, control players and fans, no shouting at referees, only one coach allowed

to stand during the games. Referees will have total control of the game. There will be no arguing or trying to work the referees, continuously trying to do so will result in a technical or being asked leave. There will be a coaches box (area) and the coaches cannot leave this area, if they do, it will be an automatic technical. Two technicals in a game, the coach will be suspended for the remainder of that game and the following game, any additional technicals during the season will result in disciplinary action, including the possibility of being removed from all Mallard Creek Optimist Club programs (without a refund) Kids can be suspended for misconduct Each team is responsible for lowering and raising goals during practice at Martin Middle. FOR PRACTICES PLEASE DO NOT LOWER GLASS BACKBOARDS. Each team is responsible for leaving the gym clean and controlling the spectators No hard sole shoes allowed on gym floor Absolutely No Food or Gatorade type of drinks allowed in either gym, snacks to be taken outside facility. Please emphasize this with the parents. Water for players is allowed. Last Ten Seconds of game. To prevent team from killing clock while holding ball in half court defense is allowed to play full court.

Basketball - Junior Boys Rules NEW RULE FOR 2014/2015 There are to be no parents at the scorer table. League will provide scorer and scorekeeper. Assistant coach can keep unofficial book on bench. Rules apply to this league, regardless of where the game is played All players must be in uniform shorts and numbered jersey. If a player is not in uniform, only the opposing coach can approve that player playing. No jewelry may be worn during games, including leather, string, rope, rubber or plastic necklaces and bracelets All coaches need to provide a season roster, with full names and uniform numbers, to the division commissioner prior to the first game of the season. The rosters will be distributed to all coaches. 4 time-outs per team (one additional for overtime) 5 fouls per player Regulation size basketballs 29.5 Four quarters - two minute overtime periods if needed Full clock stoppage on out of bounds, fouls, etc. Free throws to be taken from the regulation foul line Game starts with jump ball, second half starts with possession arrow, overtime starts with jump ball All baskets inside 3 point line count two points, outside of 3 point line count 3 points, foul shots one point Two free throws plus the ball will be awarded as a result of a technical Full court press 2nd half only (no press if up by 10 points) Backcourt defense violation first offense = warning, second = 1 technical foul. Referees has option to not award technical foul and give offense the ball if they feel defense touched ball by accident. All players must sit one full quarter All players must play 10 minutes per games unless injured If a team has six or less players both sides get free substitutions. Basketball - GU11 Rules Basketball Girls Rules (8-9-10 Year Olds) GU11 Every player plays a minimum of one and a half quarters; maximum three quarters per game (please try to play each player at least two quarters). Each player must sit out total time of at least one quarter. There will be an automatic (20 second timeout) half way thru each quarter in which mandatory substitutions are made. If a team has less than seven players, the game will be played, with two players being allowed to play the entire game. Any player playing an entire game will only be allowed to play the entire game once until all players have played a full game. The opposing coach has the right to check the scorebook to ensure the player has not played four quarters in a previous game. 10 Foot Baskets Regulation WNBA size basketballs (28.5) Four 6 minute quarters with a running clock, except clock will be stopped for timeouts and shooting fouls. The clock will stop on all whistles during the last minute of the 1 st and 3 rd quarters and the last two minutes of the 2 nd and 4 th quarter. Free throws to be taken from two feet in front of the regulation foul line Half-Court Defense (full court defense the final two minutes of the 4th quarter, only if a team is not up by more than 10 points). Guarding in the back court will result in 1 warning per team, the second offense will result in a one-shot technical foul. Basketball - GU14 Rules Basketball Girls Rules (11-12-13 Year Olds) GU14 Every player plays minimum of one and a half quarters, maximum three quarters per game (please try to play each player at least two quarters). There will be an automatic timeout half way thru the quarter in which mandatory substitutions are made. However, if a team shows up with less than seven players, the playtime rules above will not take effect. Both teams will play the game with free substitution (no minimum or maximum playing time).
