Official Start Time. The official event start time is 8am Friday 31 st March 2017. This is the start time for the period of jurisdiction for all Equestrian Sport New Zealand (ESNZ) General Regulations, Veterinary Regulations and ESNZ Dressage/para Equestrian rules. All horses and ponies on the grounds after the official start time of the event must be entered at the event or have express permission from the Organising Committee to be on site and will be subject to ground levy and yards fees. Please note Dressage NZ/Para equestrian rules do not allow the use of prohibited gear from time of arrival on the grounds. Competition Draw Draw will be available by email and at www.equestrianentries.co.nz If required, a revised draw and/or start times for the following day s competition will be available 6.30 pm each evening on the results board in the event marquee. The OC reserves the right to alter the program to ensure the smooth running of the event. It is the rider s responsibility to check any new times posted. Rider Briefing Friday 31 st March 2017. 5.30pm, in the Charisma Hall. All riders attendance is strongly recommended.

Eligibility Note all rider s ages are based on 1 August Registered Pony Riders - Born on or after 1 Aug 1999. No minimum age restriction and are still eligible if they reach the age of 17 on or after the 1 st of August 2016. Pony & Rider must be ESNZ registered. Registered Young Riders Born between 1 Aug 1991 31 July 2005 on ponies or horses. (Riders who turn 25 on or after 1 August 2016 are still eligible). Pony & Rider must be ESNZ registered. Restricted Newcomer Pony Rider 12 years and under Born on or after 1 August 2004. Rider must be a Community Member of ESNZ and may not be a fully registered member. Must be mounted on a Pony. Pony may not have any Level 2 or above points. Pony does not need to be ESNZ registered. Open Newcomer Pony Rider 12 years and Under Born on or after 1 August 2004. Must be mounted on a Pony. Rider may be either a Community Member or a Full Riding Member of ESNZ, but with no dressage grading points. Pony does not need to be ESNZ registered. Restricted Newcomer Rider 13-16 years: Born between 1 Aug 2000-31 July 2004. Rider must be a Community Member of ESNZ and may not be a fully registered member. May be mounted on a Horse or Pony. Pony/Horse must have less than 30 Level 2 or above points. Horse/Pony does not need to be ESNZ registered. Downgraded ponies are not eligible. Open Newcomer Rider 13-16 years Born between 1 Aug 2000-31 July 2004. May be mounted on a Horse or Pony. Rider may be either a Community Member or a Full Riding Member of ESNZ, but with no dressage grading points. Grade of horse/pony unrestricted. Horse/Pony does not need to be ESNZ registered. Equal Placings 1. In the case of equality in any qualifying class, the higher collective marks will determine the higher placing. 2. If the competitors are still equal then the higher co-efficient marks will determine the placings. 3. If there is still an equality of points, the competitors are given the same placing. Presentation of Prizes: 1. There will be no prize money awarded at the event, prizes will be awarded to equal or greater value of 1st $25, 2 nd $20, 3 rd $15, 4 th $10 2. Ribbons will be awarded in all classes 1 st to 6 th 3. Prizes will not be awarded to riders that do not attend prize giving. Presentation times will be advised in the program. Championships Points & Presentations 1. Young Rider Champion & Reserve Sashes and Rug for Champions, levels 1 though to 5, 6/7 and 8/9. 2. Pony Champion & Reserve Sashes and Rug for Champions, Levels 1 through 4. 3. Newcomer Classes Champion & Reserve Sashes and Rug for Champions in all age groups. 4. Classes marked Q in the schedule of classes will qualify for level championship. 5. Points will be awarded, 1 st 20, 2 nd 18, and so on down to 10 th place. 6. In the event of a tie the highest average percentage wins. 7. Grand Prix and Level 8 Musical Freestyles will be worth double points. 2

AMS Saddlery Pony & Young Rider Performance League Eligibility 1. Downgraded horses/ponies may only compete in their original grade (refer DNZ rules eff 1 Aug 2016) 2. Competitors must be 20 years or under at 1 August 2016 3. All competitors of the correct age entered in AMS Pony and Young Rider classes levels 1-2 at a Regional and Island Event are eligible 4. All competitors of the correct age entered in Super 5 classes levels 3-9 at Regional Events, the South Island Festival of Dressage and North Island Champs are eligible. 5. All competitors of the correct age entered at the Equestrian Entries NZ Under 25 Dressage Championships Equestrian Entries NZ Under 25 Dressage Championships are eligible. Scoring System 1. Points will be allocated at Regional Events, the South Island Festival of Dressage, North Island Champs and the Equestrian Entries Under 25 Dressage Championships. 2. Top 5 placings in each class are allocated points 3. Maximum 6 (best) scores will count for the final league points 4. Two scores from the South Island Festival of Dressage and Equestrian Entries NZ Under 25 Dressage Championships will eligible for points. Percentage Points Levels 1-3 levels 4-5 Levels 6-9 Less than 57% 4 5 6 57 59.99% 5 6 7 60 64.999% 6 7 8 65 to 69.999% 7 8 9 70% plus 8 9 10 Regional Events & North Island Champs 1. Levels 1-2 points will be allocated from AMS Saddlery Pony and Young Rider league qualifying classes 2. Levels 3-9 Points for will be taken from Super 5 classes South Island Festival of Dressage. 1. Levels 1-2 points will be allocated from Pony and Young Rider and Musical Freestyle classes, and one other Level 1 class as stated in the competition schedule 2. Levels 3-9 Points for will be taken from Super 5 League and Musical Freestyle classes Conditions 1. Two classes per level at the Equestrian Entries NZ Under 25 Dressage Championships marked A in the schedule are designated as AMS qualifiers. 2. No competitor may win the saddle twice. Previous winners may continue to compete and win their league level, but the saddle will be awarded to next highest points scorer. 3. In event of a tie for the overall saddle prize, the highest level combination be will be awarded the win. 4. In the event of a tie for the winner of a specific level in the league, the winner will be determined by the highest number of maximum scores achieved in the applicable level. 5. Riders may contest the league on more than one mount. Presentations 1. Winners sash for every level 2. The combination with the highest points wins a saddle sponsored by AMS Saddlery to the value of $3975.00. Saddle options will be advised by AMS Saddlery at the time of presentation. 3. Presentation will be made at the Equestrian Entries NZ Under 25 Dressage Championships 3

Rider Equitation Championships These classes will be judged based on the riders ability to influence the horse s way of going, effectiveness of the aids, accuracy, security of seat, balance and position. Open to any registered pony/horse and rider age 25 years and under. Tests Fledgling - Born on or after 1 August 2005. 11 years and under, Test - British Dressage Fledgling Rider Test 1 (2005) equivalent DNZ Level 1. Junior - 14 years and under. Born on or after 1 August 2002 Test - British Dressage C Squad Rider Test 1 (2010) equivalent DNZ Level 2 Intermediate Born on or after 31 July 1991 Riders 25 years and under who have never competed higher than Level 4 at date of close of entries. Test - British Dressage B Squad Rider Test 2 (2011) equivalent DNZ Level 3 Senior - Born on or after 31 July 1991 Riders 25 years and under. Test - British Dressage A Squad Rider Test 1 (2010) equivalent DNZ Level 4 Tests available from the DNZ Event Manager, please email dressage@inspire.net.nz. Conditions 1. May compete on a horse or pony 2. Riders may compete on downgraded ponies/horses 3. Only one entry per rider 4. Only 20 entries will be taken in each level and in the case of excessive entries balloting may occur 5. Tests may not be commanded Vetpro Presentation Prizes Vetpro Prize will be awarded the best presented Horse or Pony at the event. Judging will include horse condition, horse and rider turnout, conduct of horse/pony and rider. North/South Island Teams Event. For the York Corporation Challenge Trophy. For riders selected by ESNZ Dressage Selectors. Application criteria can be found at www.nzequestrian.org.nz. Applications close with the DNZ Sport Manager 1st March 2017. dressage@nzequestrian.org.nz Area Teams Event 1. Open to teams from areas affiliated to Equestrian Sports NZ. 2. Team entry must be submitted by 5pm 31 st March 2017 at the event office 3. Teams must be nominated by area dressage groups and entry form signed by an area official. 4. For full conditions see entry form page 12. Best Performed Hanoverian Awards 1. Two awards - Levels 1-3 and Level 4 and above, will be presented at the Championships. 2. Award open to horses registered with the NZ Hanoverian Society, proof of registration (copy of pink registration papers stamped with the official H brand) must be supplied with entry to qualify, Please attach copy to entries. 3. Winners must be Champion or Reserve Champion in their grade. 4

Event Conditions 1. Riders in registered classes may not enter any Newcomer class. 2. All competitions will be run under ESNZ GR s, VR s & ESNZ Rules for ESNZ Dressage/Para Equestrian. 3. The OC reserves the right to alter the programme/schedule and/or prize money within the ESNZ GR s/esnz Dressage rules. 4. Horses may only be entered for qualifiers for one Level of Championship 5. Registered horses and ponies ESNZ identification numbers must be worn at all times, including warm-up. 6. All horses/ponies staying on grounds must have an identification tag on them at all times with rider details and contact number. 7. Stallions must comply with ESNZ Article 147 and must be housed in a stable at all times. 8. Protests must be lodged with the secretary in writing within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the results with a payment of the $50 protest fee. Are you confused about the same test on both days of the show? Yes the schedule is correct you will ride the same test on consecutive days. On day 1 the test may be called on day 2 the test must be ridden from memory, without a caller. Sponsors We ask that all competitors spend some time to thank our sponsors that support Dressage and Para Equestrian, either in writing (Sponsors contact details will be listed on the event program) or in person during the show. Without the generous sponsorship we receive, the cost to competitors would be considerable. Event Reception Opening Hours The Event Reception is situated next to the Charisma Hall, riders please address all queries to this area. Friday 31 st March 10am - 6.30pm Saturday 1 st April 7.30am 6.00pm Sunday 2 nd April 7.30am - 4.00pm Competition Arena Use & Familarisation All competition arenas are closed at all times except as stated below 3.00pm 5.00pm Friday 31 st March 2017 7.00am - 7.30am Saturday 1 st April 2017 7.00am 7.30am Sunday 2 nd April 2017 Horses may be hand walked or ridden at walking pace only around the exterior of the arenas during these times No horses in these areas outside of these times. Designated warm up arena is open during hours of daylight. Venue Rules 1. Competitors and spectators attending this event do so at their own risk 2. No smoking in any buildings or in yard/stable areas 3. Neither the National Equestrian Centre, ESNZ, Dressage NZ, ESNZ Para Equestrian or nor any representative of these bodies, accepts any liability for any loss, damage, injury or illness to horse, pony, rider, spectators, land, vehicles or any personal property whether caused by their negligence or breach of contract in any way. 4. The National Equestrian Centre, ESNZ, Dressage NZ or ESNZ Para Equestrian shall not be liable for the safety of any goods/equipment or the loss of, or damage to such goods and equipment, brought in/stored at the venue, during the period of use. 5. Any damage to the National Equestrian Centre facilities to be reported immediately to the Event Office. 6. Safety hats must be worn at all times when schooling and competing. 7. All horses and ponies on the grounds must be entered at the event unless prior arrangement has been made with the Organising Committee. 5

Dogs 1. Dogs must be kept in the truck park at all times 2. No dogs are allowed in any stable or yarding areas, warm up, competition areas or buildings 3. Dogs may be exercised on the cross country course only 4. Failure to adhere to these rulings will result in a complete dog ban for 2018 5. The dog must be on a lead at all times 6. The owner of the dog will be responsible for the cost of any damage/harm caused by the dog at the competition. 7. Failure to comply with the above rulings will result in a $100 fine which much be paid for by the dog owner 8. This owner must pay this fine to be allowed to continue riding in the competition Vehicles & Motorbikes 1. Speed limit for all vehicles 15 kph. 2. Motorbikes may not be used after 8.30 pm and must be used in accordance with normal road rules. Any competitor contravening these rules will be fined and immediately eliminated from any further participation in the show. Helmets must be worn. 3. Joy riding on any part of the grounds at any time will not be tolerated. Junior drivers (under 16yrs) must only use motorbikes under parental supervision. Horse Identification, Yards & Accommodation 1. Registered horse/pony identification numbers must be worn at all times when competing. 2. During non-competition times ID tags to include the person responsible name and phone number. 3. Unregistered competitors should label tag with person responsible name and contact phone number. 4. Please keep wash down bays clean at all times. 5. Moving horses to unallocated yards/paddocks is prohibited. 6. Please use the skips provided for horse waste not rubbish, bins are provided for rubbish. 7. Temporary yards are not permitted. 8. All yards/stables are to be left properly mucked out. Muck skips will be located near the yards. Camp Sites 1. Parking and camping areas may be defined. 2. Powered sites available. 3. Any persons found plugging their truck/float/camper into power sockets in the ablution block or other illegal connection will be asked to leave the venue 4. Please be tidy and use bins for all rubbish 5. Waste water (grey water tanks) must not be dumped on the venue. FEI Code of Conduct In all equestrian sports the horse must be considered paramount. The well-being of the horse shall be above the demands of breeders, trainers, riders, owners, dealers, organisers, sponsors or officials. All handling and veterinary treatment must ensure the health and welfare of the horse. The highest standards of nutrition, health, sanitation and safety shall be encouraged and maintained at all times. Adequate provision must be made for ventilation, feeding, watering and maintaining a healthy environment during transportation. Emphasis should be placed on increasing education in training and equestrian practices and on promoting scientific studies in equine health. In the interests of the horse, the fitness and competence of the rider shall be regarded as essential. All riding and training methods must take account of the horse as a living entity and must not include any technique considered by the FEI to be abusive. National Federations should establish adequate controls in order that all persons and bodies under their jurisdiction respect the welfare of the horse. The national and international Rules and Regulations in equestrian sport regarding the health and welfare of the horse must be adhered to not only during national and international events, but also in training. Competition Rules and Regulations shall be continually reviewed to ensure such welfare. Riders Assistance Dressage NZ welcomes your assistance and support. Riders and/or their families or supporters are requested to advise with entries tasks that can be helped with to ensure the smooth running of the event. The return of this form and contribution to the event means you go into the draw to receive a full entry refund (not including stabling or camping). Please state at time of entry if you can assist with the following tasks, we will take account of riding times. All competitions will be run under ESNZ GR s, VR s & ESNZ Rules for ESNZ Dressage/Para Equestrian. 1. This event is run under the ESNZ Para-Equestrian Rules 2016 and the DNZ rules where applicable 2. All riders must be current, full members of ESNZ at time of entry 3. All horses must be registered with ESNZ 4. No prior qualification applies; however all P-E riders must have a current FEI or ESNZ ID card, a copy of which must be included with entries and to be carried while riding. 5. Riders must wear the orange P-E ID discs on either side of their saddle blankets. 6. A horse may not be shared by different riders between P-E & AB classes 7. A horse may be shared by riders of different Grades in Para classes as per Article 125 8. While every effort will be made to accommodate riders wishing to compete in both P-E & AB classes and to accommodate P-E riders with more than one horse, the smooth running of the event is paramount and should there be excessive entries or timetabling issues, then riders may be asked to nominate which horse/discipline they want to compete in. 9. At least three of the horses must compete in different grades. 3. All team riders must be full members of ESNZ and be competing in graded competitions 4.
