A Message from Our Co-Chairs SUSAN O DAY EVP ENTERPRISE TECHNOLOGY & CIO THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY TILAK MANDADI GLOBAL CTO & CIO WALT DISNEY PARKS AND RESORTS As Co-Chairs for the 8th annual Special Olympics Florida Invitational at Walt Disney World Resort, we are proud to support a successful event that impacts the lives of so many. What started as a grassroots gathering has grown into a charity golf event that brings together more than 400 colleagues, associates, and friends to benefit the 42,000 athletes served by Special Olympics Florida. Special Olympics Florida provides year-round sports training, competition, and health services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, all at no cost to the athletes or their caregiver. With programming in every corner of Florida, the funds raised at this event are critical to ensuring that all Special Olympics Florida athletes have the opportunity to experience personal athletic triumphs as they shatter the stereotypes surrounding people with disabilities. Thank you for your consideration and support. A Message from Special Olympics Florida We see the power of sports every day in the smiling faces of our athletes, the exciting cheers of the crowds, and the support we receive. Furthering the work of founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver since 1972, Special Olympics Florida provides free, year-round sports training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Florida has grown to serve more than 42,000 athletes in 67 counties, building on the premise that there is power in sports. Special Olympics Florida believes that sports can be used as a vehicle to give people with intellectual disabilities a chance for inclusion, as well as participation in activities that are not normally accessible to this population. Additionally, our athletes experience physical, educational, psychological, and social benefits, as well as the chance to experience joy, build friendships, and gain a sense of accomplishment. Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt. Special Olympics Athlete Oath. Even for those who do not personally know someone with an intellectual disability, Special Olympics Florida remains relevant to each of us because it gives a voice, dignity, and significance to a group of people who are often overlooked and marginalized. Help breaking this negative stigma and help rehabilitating people with intellectual disabilities into society is a goal we can all help achieve. Proceeds from the Special Olympics Florida Invitational at Walt Disney World Resort will help to make our mission possible. Thanks to active participation, commitment of sponsors, and the tournament committee, we will continue to pursue our mission of making the joys and benefits of Special Olympics a reality for more athletes each year.
