Gregory C. Marshall Naval Architects SEPTEMBER 2010 NEWSLETTER Project 6126-45m BIG FISH - LATEST LAUNCH It has been astonishing to see the amount of attention that BigFish has garnered since her launch in the spring of this year. Built by McMullen and Wing in Auckland New Zealand, this 45 meter yacht is one of our more complex and sophisticated yachts to date. She was conceived for an Owner who began the process stating that he would have little involvement and ended up in the process having probably more involvement and enthusiasm than most of the people that we work with. He became so enthusiastic in fact that he has commissioned us to design him a larger sister ship. Starfish is now under construction at McMullen and Wing. See the release later in this newsletter. BigFish despite having a very edgy and modern exterior is a very serious exploration ship. Her maiden voyage is a 2 year polar circumnavigation of the earth. Details of the journey can be found at www.mybigfishcharters.com Rare for a yacht of this size is the full headroom tender garage forward with an elevator style roof that raises up and reveals a 7.8 meter aluminum tender Triple Ripple described later in this newsletter. Gregory C. Marshall Naval Architects was intensely involved in the design. Our brief included the Naval Architecture, the Engineering, Styling and Interior design. Come visit the Aquos Booth at both the Monaco and Fort Lauderdale Shows. Also, at Fort Lauderdale please contact Greg or Gord for an Invitation to visit Big Fish at The Sails Marina in Fort Lauderdale. LATEST LAUNCH Page 3 P3 PROJECT 4185-7.8m TRIPLE RIPPLE The Triple Ripple is the custom designed 7.8m Tender to Big Fish and was built at McMullen and Wing in New Zealand. The mandate from the owner was a rugged tender that could provide many tasks; including Diving Support, Water Sports (water skiing tubing etc.), Ferry (up to 14 people), Fishing, Day Excursions/ Exploring all this and still be able stow in the bow of Big Fish. Our office is very proud of what we designed; this all aluminum construction, jet propelled tender has a top speed of 26 knots but has a range of over 200 miles at cruise. See www.aquosyachts.com and www.mcmullenandwing.com for more information. Photo - McMullen & Wing Photo - Tim Photo McKenna - Tim McKenna

NEW COMMISIONS Page 4 P4 PROJECT 6174 - STARFISH StarFish is the latest project developed for Aquos Yachts in Hong Kong. This 50 meter big sistership to Big- Fish, is currently under construction at McMullen and Wing in Auckland New Zealand. We have found Aquos to be a very forward thinking company that likes to set trends rather than follow them. StarFish certainly attests to that. At just under 500 GRT this yacht has a 37 meter long completely private Owners deck. This feature includes two Large cabins, one forward facing and one aft facing. This allows the ultimate in flexibility as it can be configured as one large owners suite or Lounge forward and stateroom aft or the reverse. It can also be configured as a Family suite or two Master staterooms or even two lounges for large corporate entertaining. The catch phrase for this yacht has become Whatever you want. In addition there are two swimming pools, a number of outdoor fireplaces and nearly floor to ceiling glass in most key rooms. Aft there is a new feature to yachting. Flatfish is a 6 meter long motorized platform that stores in the aft Beach deck. This new style tender offers the ability to have a private massage in the next bay over, or provide beach support and shade rapidly, and can also be used as a glass bottom boat for the owners kids to enjoy in the shallows where the large tenders cannot go. Another Aquos first is the video ceiling in the Main Salon and Dining salons. This spectacular feature allows the sky to be displayed real-time in High Resolution, or at night you can zoom in so that you can have a 3 meter diameter moon above the dining table. This can also be used for high end corporate charters such as displaying the underside of the new Bugatti at its exclusive release party on board. Starfish's pilothouse will be yet another Aquos first, with the overall concept much more akin to a futuristic high tech fighter aircraft rather than a conventional yacht. The surrounding glass in the pilothouse is virtually floor to ceiling and curved. There are two enormous helm seats that look like something out of Avatar and the controls for the entire ship can be managed from the seats. Come visit the Aquos Booth at both the Monaco and Fort Lauderdale Shows. Also, at Fort Lauderdale please contact Greg or Gord for an Invitation to visit Big Fish at the Sails Marina. See www.aquosyachts.com and www.mcmullenandwing.com for more information.

NEW COMMISIONS Page 5 P5 PROJECT 312 - IC75 This is a very exciting new project in our offices with the detailed design just starting. At 75 feet long with a beam of nearly 30 feet the IC75 represents a very large boat for the length. This aluminum yacht will be built in limited production with hull number one and two commencing in the early part of 2011 for delivery Mid 2012. The layout for the vessel is bold from top to bottom. Beginning with a teppanyaki bar on the flybridge. On the next deck down there is a Bridge lounge that features an array of swivel lounge style seating that allows this area to double as the Owners Private lounge when the vessel is not in transit. Aft of this area is an Owners Suite that includes a Private aft deck, Huge Master stateroom with floor to ceiling glass, a King Sized bed, walk in wardrobe locker and ensuite with two vanities private toilet room and shower. The Main Deck features port and starboard VIP Guest Suites each with hinge out private balconies and floor to ceiling glass windows/doors. Each guest suite has a private ensuite and walk-in wardrobe locker. The staterooms each have two twin sized beds that can be configured as singles or joined to form king sized berth. The Main Salon/ Dining salon is the full 28 foot inside width of the vessel and features unobstructed views of the ocean. Throughout the vessel the accommodations are designed to seat eight people everywhere on board. This means both the inside and the outside dining areas, the teppanyaki bar, and the pilothouse. The Galley is located aft which allows it to serve both the dining areas as well as the aft deck. There are very large double doors port and starboard making for easy access for service and entertaining. One of the very unique features of the IC75 is the large hydraulic platform aft which includes the aft stairs and two level swim platforms. This allows the IC75 to carry up to a 17 foot RHIB and allows divers and swimmers to easily access the water without the use of clumsy ladder.

NEW COMMISIONS Page 6 P6 PROJECT 6185-80m MOTOR YACHT - PROJECT P We have very recently been commissioned to design a revolutionary and exciting 80 meter project. Unfortunately at this time all details for the vessel are being kept under wraps. PROJECT 4230 - OCEAN ALEXANDER 110 Here is a sneak preview of the new Ocean Alexander 110 Production Yacht. This project is a joint venture with Evan Marshall out of London GCMNA is providing the Hull Design, Naval Architecture and Engineering, while Evan is doing both the exterior and interior styling on this Fiberglass Production. This yacht is a trideck with 4 staterooms in the hull deck and a master on the main with a huge master head and bath. It is powered by two MTU 12V2000 giving a top speed of around 23 knots. Expect to see more on the yacht in 2011. Along with this project, GCMNA assists Ocean Alexander with Naval Architecture and Engineering support for their current production line. See www.oceanalexander.com for more details

UNDER CONSTRUCTION Page 7 P7 PROJECT 4215 - HL 70 - PRODUCTION YACHT The HL 70 offers a combination of features not typically seen in a production yacht of this style and size. Built using a vacuum infused composite structure and a cored interior, weight has been kept to a minimum, eliminating the need for large fuel guzzling engines. Propulsion is provided by 2 x 1200hp MAN diesels coupled with ZF pod drives, providing a 35 knot top speed and the latest in drive by wire maneuverability while reducing the size of the engine room maximizing the accommodation space. Below, there are 3 staterooms, each with an ensuite head (plus crew quarters), and a large galley with a breakfast bar. The main deck features opening windows port and starboard, a full hydraulic drop down bulkhead aft and a sun roof above to create a very open space for entertaining. There is also a full flybridge, a large tender bay and a hydraulic swim platform perfect for diving when anchored or boarding when moored stern to.

Page 8 P8 REFIT PROJECT 1102 -REFIT 59m EXPEDITION VESSEL The very experienced yachtsman/owner of this project was looking for a vessel that he could use a mother ship for extreme and sometimes risky areas for sports fishing. He wanted a ship that looked commercial and utilitarian on the outside but had first class yacht finish on the inside. It also had to accommodate his 38 Sports fisherman. The pursuit of the perfect vessel led him to Japan where he found a 52m ex-fisheries training vessel. For our office it has been one of the most interesting and humbling design projects. The mandate was to keep it rough looking and provide the owner with the following: Stern Extension and launching ramp for his 38 Sport fisherman Additional Owners Deck / Cabin Modification to the Main Deck House New bulbous bow Hull Extension to 59m and loading ramp for the 38 SF New Skegs New Interior Design The strip-out took place in Egypt with the refit work completing in Turkey. She will be found exploring the world in 2011. PROJECT 179 -REFIT 100m MOTOR YACHT Glade Johnson provided the Washington Marine Group Exterior, Interior and Decorating details for this 100m refit project. It included adding a new bow, new transom and many styling details; such as deck extensions and pop-outs. GCMNA provided the following engineering and design tasks for this exciting project: Structural Design and CNC Files on the Deck Extension/Pop-outs Conceptual Design and Details on the new Hull Embarkation platform and boarding ladder Conceptual Design and Details on the new Hull Crew platform and access door Conceptual Design and Details on the stern passerelle door Conceptual Design and Details on the Aft Fuel Door

CONTACT INFO Page UPDATE 9 P9 PROJECT 4153 - FATHOM 40 A favorite of ours Fathom Yachts are now up to Hull #18 this is an excellent run for this young but very experienced builder in the current economy. It says a lot about their product. Fathom/ELEMENT utilizes modern CAD, engineering, tooling, and manufacturing techniques that allow unmatched quality, performance, and fuel efficiency. Weightsaving composite materials, a propeller tunnel/s, and an efficient hull design allow the ELEMENT to cruise effortlessly with a range of propulsion options single or twin. The ELEMENTS wide beam provides stability and enormous interior space. Two comfortable staterooms, a spacious head, and roomy salon rival the features of a much larger yacht. The raised pilothouse is distinguished by commanding views from its comfortable helm chair and settee for five. A unique folding transom lowers to expand the aft deck for access and adventure. The ELEMENT is 40.4 feet and only requires a 40 or less slip.
