11/1: Students services and Ladies of Virtue would like to thank each and every one of you who supported our efforts to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. Thanks for participating in the walk! Thanks for buying the t-shirts, bracelets, tickets to the party, or simply made donations. We exceed our goal and raised $1,888.15. We could not have done this without you! GO PANTHERS! 11/1: Ladies of Virtue will meet today after school at 3:45pm in room 164, please remember to bring your funds for your breast cancer bracelets and dress for success! 11/1: If you are interest in joining the following clubs: Creative Writing room 292, Spanish Club room 451, Skills USA room 421 or Gaming Club room 217, please meet sponsors in those rooms at 3:45. 11/2: The Art of Hughes Theatre Present s FENCES!!!! Thursday, November 9th through Saturday November 11th at 6:30pm. Student tickets are $5.00! I repeat $5.00! Educator night will be Friday November 10th. All Educators with a valid ID will get in for $5.00 also. Please see Ms. Favors in room 512 for tickets. Teachers please make sure you show the trailer link sent out by Ms. Favors to your scholars. 11/2: There will be a very important Men of Valor meeting on Thursday November 2 nd at 3:45 in room 233. 11/2: Attention FBLA students! There will be a meeting on Thursday November 2 @ 3:45pm. Students, please be on time. Important business will be discussed! 11/3: The LHHS VanChise Team is sponsoring the LHHS Public Relations Club, and we are looking for scholars with skills or interest in technology, social media, marketing, broadcasting, graphic art, data analysis, and writing, to develop and improve our Langston Hughes brand. Scholars can pick up an application from Mrs. Rucker-Lott, in room # 435. 11/6: Congrats goes out to the JROTC Raider team @ this weekend s Best of the Best Female team Janaya Booker and Zoe Jackson placing in three events bringing home 3 medals and the male teams Timothy Law and Jaquan King placing in one event Orin Jones and Joseph Sherrier placing in one event. Job well done Panthers! 11/6: Track and field conditioning is cancelled for today 11/6 and will resume on Wednesday 11/8. 11/6: To all golf club students, please be advised that our regular meeting will resume 11/7 at 3:40. Be on time and ready to work as we have a lot to cover. 11/6: All Juniors interested in purchasing a Junior class t-shirt please go to Ms. Houser room 477 or Mrs. Carters room 271 to pay your money.

11/6: JROTC is conducting their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, our goal is to buy 100 turkeys for Thanksgiving. Please donate whatever you can to help a family in need for this Thanksgiving Holiday. Remember that Thanksgiving is the Season for Giving! 11/7: SENIORS only! World-based learning applications for 2 nd semester are 11/7: There will be a short LINK LEADER Meeting this Thursday (11/9) at 730am or 330pm in room (483). All Link Leaders must be in attendance. 11/7: The 6th annual National Honor Society Thanksgiving Can Drive benefits the Langston Hughes High School community. Cans will be accepted until Friday, November 17th. Please turn in your cans to Mr. Lee in room 259. So thank you (say scholars name): Konata Devaughn, Nathandria Claybrooks, Draylinda Crawford, Elijah Watkins, Jaizhia Cole, Cori Permenter, Khailiha Nelson, Patrick Carter, Jr, Justyce Brantley, Joshua Woods, Joshua Butts, Darius Moon, Coriana Middlebrooks, Jahkem Stewart. And all of you whose moms are a part of the MOMS of Langston for allowing your parents to serve. Also, thank you to all of the teachers who have used a parent volunteer thus far. 11/9: The media center will begin featuring a "Genre of the Month." The Genre of the Month for November and December is "Realistic Fiction." If you check out a realistic fiction book from the media center or online, and do a book review, you will be invited to participate in a celebration in December. See Mrs. Wright in the media center for details. Also, we would like to announce our Stand Man SAT word of the day. This is a game where you use clues to guess the SAT word of the day. This will help you strengthen your vocabulary and you will also win a "Get caught reading ticket" if you guess the word. Come to the media center to play before 1st block or during your lunch time. See Ms. Mims in the media center for details. 11/13: FBLA is hosting world Premature Day on Friday November 17 th. World Premature Day is the raise awareness of preterm birth and the concerns of preterm babies and their families worldwide. FBLA would like everyone to wear the color purple on this Friday. Teachers, if you could decorate your room or your door pertaining to World Premature Day.

11/13: Concession in Gym Lobby will open after school today! Do not miss your bus or ride! 11/14: DECA members please make plans to attend an important meeting on Wednesday, November 15 th. We will discuss region competition and field trips. 11/14: There will be a PROM committee meeting today after school in room 164 at 3:45pm. 11/14: There will be Ladies of Virtue meeting Wednesday, November 15th after school in room 164 at 3:45PM. Please be in attendance and remember to DRESS for SUCCESS! 11/15: The next Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) exam will be on December 5 th at 8:30am in the Auditorium. All interested scholars can sign up with Mr. Greenaway in student services. 11/15: There will be Ladies of Virtue meeting TODAY after school in room 164 at 3:45PM. Please be in attendance and remember to DRESS for SUCCESS! 11/15: It s basketball season!! To kick-off the basketball season SGA is hosting midnight madness: kicking off the hoops! November 30 th @ 4pm-6pm in the main gym. There will be a lay-up contest, dunk contest, 3 point shootout and free throw contest. The 2017 State Champs will showcase their rings. Concessions will be available! Please come out to support your 2017-18 girls and boys basketball team! 11/27: DECA members please prepare to attend an important meeting on November 29 th in room 211 at 3:45. 11/27: Please remember that our Genre of the Month for November and December is realistic fiction. We have some awesome realistic fiction books. Also, if you complete a review on a realistic fiction, you will be rewarded. Also, remember to stop by to play Sandman and guess the SAT word of the day. 11/27: The Langston Hughes High School Choral department would like to congratulate Ms. Tayara Rhymes on advancing to round two of the4 GMEA All state auditions. If you see Tayara in the hallways, please encourage her as she prepares for the second round of auditions. 11/27: Seniors, if you have not turned in your work-based learning applications for 2 nd semester, please do so. Interviews begin this week. 11/27: To all members of the golf club, please be on time for our regularly scheduled meeting. It s imperative that everyone is on time and ready to work. No excuses will be accepted for late arrivals. 11/28: Job opportunity at McDonalds, 5330 Campbellton Fairburn Road, Publix Shopping Center, See Ms. Robinson in room 232.

11/30: The National Honor Society monthly meeting will be held after school on Wednesday, December 6th in Mr. Lee's room 259. Our yearbook picture is scheduled. Please pick up your NHS t-shirt from Mr. Lee prior to the meeting.
