Little Rock, Arkansas Responsibilities: Artistic planning, performance programming, repertoire, artist s contracts, production scheduling, arts in education programs and touring engagements. Choreograph original works, re-create traditional classical ballets, teach in the related academy and oversee the academy development. Assist the board of directors, production budgets, annual budgets, fundraising, volunteer support organizations, general artistic administration and public speaking. During my the eight years as artistic director of Ballet Arkansas, which I danced for the first five as a principal male dancer, I had the privilege and opportunity to stage all the major productions, create new works and invite guest choreographers. Within a three year period a professional company of nine dancers was developed. The season performance series was four to five major productions a year, including the annual outdoor free concert, which expanded the audience base and increased the annual ticket sales. The organizations related academy was expanded from forty seven to two hundred thirty students.
Under my guidance we organized a cultural association residency with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Theatre Arts Department. The company classes, academy classes, company rehearsals and repertoire concerts were held at the University facility. Thus giving the company an arts in education outreach and a broader professional profile in the community. With the development of the company s program we were able to expand on the touring engagements throughout the state and southwest. As a member of Regional Dance America/SW Ballet Arkansas achieved and maintained the status of Honor Company and the 1992 recipient of the Stream Award for artistic excellence. In 1998, with the assistance of a strong committee, was realized the most profitable annual Regional Dance America/SW festival held in Little Rock. Lexington Ballet, Ballet Master and Associate Artistic Director, 1988 1992. Lexington, Kentucky I was hired as ballet master for the performing company and principal teacher in the Lexington Ballet Academy. A major responsibility was to assist the Artistic Director, Karl Kaufman in artistic planning and company development. During the season performances I was able to stage and choreograph many of company s productions as well as perform the male lead roles in the performances. During my tenure with Lexington Ballet we expanded the professional dancer roster from three to six dancers with purpose of creating a state wide touring ensemble. With the touring ensemble we were able to develop an arts in education out reach program in the public schools around the state of Kentucky. My primary teaching responsibilities were with company and intermediate and advanced levels. After two seasons I was made associate artistic director.
