GAME NOTES HEADLINES RB Shonn Greene is 59 yards away from earning his first career 1,000-yard season. Currently, he leads the team with 941 yards and six rushing touchdowns. He would become the teams first 1,000-yard rusher since Thomas Jones tallied 1,402 yards in 2009. With a win on Saturday, the New York Jets will improve their home record to 7-1 equaling the best mark in team history. The last time New York won seven games at home was 1998. This Saturday s game marks the Jets last of three games versus NFC East opponents in the past four weeks. New York has split the two recent contests with a win at Washington (12/4) and a loss at PHI (12/18). The Jets currently lead the NFL in Red Zone efficiency, scoring touchdowns on 68.1 percent (32-of-47) of their opportunities. New York s defense ranks third in the NFL in third down conversion rate (31.5), third in opponents passer rating (70.7), and fourth in opponents completion percentage (54.5). LB David Harris recorded his third interception of the season, when he grabbed a PHI QB Michael Vick pass at the end of the first half (12/18). His three thefts are the most by a Jets linebacker since Jonathan Vilma had three in 2004. Moreover, with the exception of the 2008 team that scored 48 touchdowns, New York s 2011 offense has already visited the end zone more than any Jets team since 2002 (41). The 41 touchdowns through 14 games rank second in team history behind 2008 (48), since the league expanded to a 16-game format (1982). Currently the Jets rank seventh in the NFL with an average of 24.7 points per game and are on pace to register the third-highest scoring average in team history since the NFL expanded to a 16-game format. The only teams to record a higher average was 1998 (26.0) and 2008 (25.3). The last time the Jets ranked this high in scoring this late in the season was 2008, when the team finished fifth. OVERVIEW BY POSITION Quarterbacks (3), Returning Starter (1), Coach Matt Cavanaugh: Since Week Six of the 2010 season, QB Mark Sanchez has produced nine comeback wins in the fourth quarter or overtime, the most in the NFL during that span. For his career, he has 10 comeback wins in the fourth quarter or overtime. His latest comeback came at WAS (12/4) when he completed a 30-yard touchdown pass to WR Santonio Holmes with 4:49 remaining, just a week after the two combined for a 16-yard touchdown with 1:01 remaining to give New York a comeback win over BUF (11/27). The touchdown vs. BUF was his fourth of the day, a career-high for the third-year signal caller, and the most by a Jets quarterback since Brett Favre threw six vs. ARZ (9/28/08). Since facing New England (10/9) he ranks fifth among AFC passers with an 85.2 passer rating. During that span, Sanchez has connected on 176-of-305 passes (57.7) for 2,004 yards, 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Sanchez has been responsible for 28 touchdowns this season (23 passing and 5 rushing). In 2010, he became only the second quarterback (Ben Roethlisberger 5, 2004-05) to start and win four postseason games in their first two seasons in the NFL. Sanchez s 23 wins in his first two NFL seasons tie for second among quarterbacks in their first two NFL seasons (Roethlisberger 27, 2004-05). His 11 career rushing touchdowns are third among quarterbacks in franchise history. Veteran Mark Brunell signed with the Jets as a free agent (7/28/10). Brunell threw his first passes of the season in the team s 45-19 loss to PHI and connected on 1-of-3 passes for 27 yards. The three-time Pro Bowler missed the preseason due to injury. Fourth-year veteran Kevin O Connell returns to the Jets after spending the 2011 training camp with the Miami Dolphins. O Connell originally joined the Jets via trade with DET in 2009, before being waived (7/29/11). Running Backs (6), Returning Starter (1), Coach Anthony Lynn: After spending two seasons as an understudy to Thomas Jones and LaDainian Tomlinson, Shonn Greene starts at running back and stands 59 yards shy of his first-career 1,000 yard season. He leads the team with 941 yards and six touchdowns on 225 carries (4.2 avg.). Greene recorded a career-high three rushing touchdowns in the Jets 34-19 win at WAS (12/4), equaling a team single-game record. Tomlinson moved into the role of the Jets third-down back in 2011 and is currently fourth on the team with 32 receptions for 390 yards and 2 TDs. At OAK (9/25), Tomlinson became the third player in NFL history to score 160 touchdowns, joining Hall-of-Famers Jerry Rice (208) and Emmitt Smith (175) as the only players to reach that threshold. He currently has 162. He finished the game with five receptions for 116 yards, his first 100-yard receiving game since 2003 (at GB 12/14). Second-year fullback John Conner serves as the starter after spending his rookie season learning from Tony Richardson. Known as The Terminator for his crushing blocks, Conner has averaged 4.2 yards a carry and scored two touchdowns on 21 rushes during his career. 2010 fourth-round selection out of USC, Joe McKnight, leads the NFL with a kickoff return average of 32.3 yards. McKnight has contributed two key plays on special teams, the first coming when he blocked a punt to set up a game-tying score vs. DAL (9/11), and the second coming when he returned a kick 107 yards, the longest play in Jets history, at BLT (10/2) to tie the score at seven. He saw the most extensive playing time of the season when Greene went down in the first quarter at DEN (11/17). He finished the game with a season-high 59 yards on 16 carries (3.7 avg.) and recorded a career-high six receptions for 62 yards. 2011 fourth-round selection Bilal Powell earned his first NFL experience at DEN (11/17), recording seven carries for 11 yards and one reception for seven yards. Undrafted rookie free agent Josh Baker was signed to the active roster as a FB/TE (9/27/11) after TE Jeff Cumberland suffered a season-ending injury at OAK (9/25). Baker appeared in his first NFL game in the Jets 24-6 victory over MIA (10/17) and caught the first pass of his career in the Jets 27-11 victory at BUF (11/6). He returned a short kick 29 yards that set up the game-winning touchdown drive at WAS (12/4). Wide Receivers (5), Returning Starter (1), Coach Henry Ellard: Since 1983, no NFL receiver has caught more touchdown passes (5) in the final 1:00 of 4th quarter/overtime (including playoffs) than Santonio Holmes. He nearly added to his total, missing it by one second when he caught the game-winning 16-yard reception vs. BUF (11/27) with 1:01 remaining. Holmes also caught the decisive touchdown with 4:49 remaining in the Jets 34-19 victory at WAS (12/4). The Super Bowl XLIII MVP was named a captain by Coach Ryan. Currently, Holmes is tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions (8) and is second on the team in receptions (47) and receiving yards (604). Plaxico Burress returned to the NFL this season for the first time since last seeing action in 2008 and is tied for the team lead with eight touchdowns. Against DAL (9/11), Burress recorded four receptions for 72 yards and a 26-yard touchdown, his first touchdown since at PHI (11/09/08). Against SD (10/23), he registered his first three touchdown receiving game since 2007 vs. DAL (9/9). Jeremy Kerley earned the role as the team s third wide receiver after the team traded veteran Derrick Mason. He also averages 9.4 yards on punt returns. Young veterans Patrick Turner and Eron Riley round out the receiving corps. Tight Ends (3), Returning Starter (1), Coach Mike Devlin: Fourth-year pro Dustin Keller leads New York in receptions (50) and receiving yards (693). He also has four touchdowns. Last season, he finished third in touchdowns (five) and receiving yards (687). Former undrafted free agent Matthew Mulligan has been with the club since 2009 and provides depth along with undrafted rookie free agent Josh Baker at the position. Offensive Line (8), Returning Starters (5), Coach Bill Callahan: The Jets game at WAS (12/4) marked the second consecutive contest that the offensive line did not allow a sack. It was the first time since Weeks Three and Four of 2010 that New York held two consecutive opponents without a sack. In 2006, Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum focused on the offensive line, selecting LT D Brickashaw Ferguson fourth overall and C Nick Mangold 29th overall in the NFL draft. The two players started 82 consecutive games together before Mangold missed his first two NFL contests at OAK (9/25) and at BLT (10/2), eventually returning at NE (10/9). The streak made them the only two players who entered the league together to start their team s first 75 regular-season games on the same offensive line since 1970. Ferguson earned his second-consecutive Pro Bowl nod for his play last season. He was also awarded 2010 Pro Football Weekly s Midseason All-Pro team honors, 2009 Pro Bowl honors and 2006 All-Rookie Team honors by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writer s Association. During his first four seasons, Mangold earned Associated Press All-Pro honors (09, 10), three consecutive Pro Bowl selections (08, 09, 10) and All-Rookie recognition in 2006 as voted by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writer s Association. Regarded as one of the better right guards in the NFL, Brandon Moore leads the group and has started 119 consecutive games for the Jets, the longest current streak by any guard in the league. Moore s 126 games played is seventh among offensive linemen in Jets history. CLICK HERE FOR THE 2011 NEW YORK JETS INTERACTIVE MEDIA GUIDE R15-4 - Overview by position 5

OVERVIEW BY POSITION Also on the offensive line is third-year LG Matt Slauson, who earned the starting job after an impressive 2010 preseason and has started every game since. RT Wayne Hunter earned his first-career start at right tackle at PIT (12/19/10) and started at CHI (12/26/10) and vs. BUF (1/2). Hunter also started the club s 28-21 playoff win at NE (1/16) and the AFC Championship game at PIT (1/23). Second-year G/T Vladimir Ducasse provides depth along with rookie G Caleb Schlauderaff. The Jets acquired Schlauderaff in a trade with Green Bay (9/3). The Jets also added T Austin Howard from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad (11/25/11). Defensive Line (7), Returning Starters (2), Coach Mark Carrier and Coach Jeff Weeks: Led by veteran starter DT Mike DeVito (5th season) and defensive captain NT Sione Pouha (7th season), the Jets field a defensive line with five players who have three-or-less years of experience. According to Head Coach Rex Ryan, the defensive front enjoyed its best performance of the season at DEN (11/17). The leaders of this group teamed up to make a huge play in the season opener vs. DAL (9/11) when DeVito recorded the first full-sack of his career, dropping QB Tony Romo and forcing a fumble at the Jets two-yard line that Pouha would recover for the fourth fumble recovery of his career. DeVito earned 11 starts and recorded 46 tackles in 2010. Pouha started 29 games in the 2009-10 seasons and helped the Jets defense finish first overall in 2009 and fourth in 2010. He recorded his first sack of the season and a safety vs. KC (12/11). The group was infused with two draft selections this season, DE Muhammad Wilkerson (first round, 30th overall) and NT Kenrick Ellis (third round, 94th overall). Wilkerson earned his first-career sack vs. JAX (9/18), when he dropped Jaguars QB Luke McCown in the end zone for a safety. It was the first time a player recorded a safety on his first-career sack since 2008, when Ravens LB Jameel McClain did it for a Rex Ryan-led defense in Baltimore, he has two sacks this season. Ellis earned his first start vs. SD (10/23) and has played in four games, starting twice. Marcus Dixon was awarded to the Jets off waivers (9/5/10) and has recorded 1.5 sacks, a FF and a FR in 2011. Dixon recorded the first forced fumble of his career when he punched the ball free from WAS RB Roy Helu at WAS (12/4). He helps provide depth along with Ropati Pitoitua, who earned his first-career sack at NE (10/9) when he swung down QB Tom Brady, and Martin Tevaseu. Linebackers (8), Returning Starters (3), Coach Bob Sutton: Led by inside linebackers David Harris and Bart Scott and flanked by Calvin Pace and Jamaal Westerman, following the season-ending injury to Bryan Thomas (achilles) at BLT (10/2), this unit allows the Jets defense to use multiple schemes. Harris was re-signed to a long-term deal this offseason and has responded with another productive year, leading the team with 103 tackles in addition to recording four sacks and three interceptions. He scored the first touchdown of his NFL career at BLT (10/2) when he returned an INT 35 yards. Scott is currently tied for second on the team with 4.5 sacks and also fourth on the team in tackles (64). Arguably enjoying his most productive season with the Jets, Pace currently is tied for second on the team with 4.5 sacks and has recorded eight tackles-for-losses and 16 quarterback hurries, in addition to standing third on the team with 81 tackles. Pace recorded his third career interception and first of the season at BUF (11/6). Third-year man Westerman took on a greater role following the injury to Bryan Thomas. In his first game following Thomas injury at NE (10/9), he recorded two sacks of NE QB Tom Brady. In the two teams second contest (11/13), Westerman forced Brady to an intentional grounding penalty in the end zone for a safety. For the season, he has 3.5 sacks and 17 special teams tackles. Second-year LB Josh Mauga has solidified himself as the third ILB and has earned and a greater role at OLB. He recorded the first interception of his career vs. JAX (9/18). He also has 16 special teams tackles. Former BUF first-round selection Aaron Maybin and first-year man Garrett McIntyre provide depth at the outside linebacker positions while Nick Bellore, the club s lone 2011 undrafted free agent to make the 53-man roster out of training camp, provides depth on the inside and leads the team with 26 special teams tackles. Maybin leads the team with 6 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 17 quarterback hits in 11 games. McIntyre has started three games, has the second most tackles (17) on special teams and has forced two fumbles on special teams, as well. Defensive Backs (10), Returning Starters (4), Coach Dennis Thurman and Jim O Neil: Regarded by many observers as the best secondary in the NFL, this group has helped the Jets rank third in the NFL in opposing passer rating (70.7) and fourth in opponents completion percentage (54.5). Opposing quarterbacks have completed 244-of-448 passes for 3,054 yards, 13 TD and 16 INT. The unit is led by NFL Defensive Player- of-the-year candidate Darrelle Revis. The perennial All-Pro set up the Jets game-winning field goal vs. DAL (9/11) when he intercepted a DAL QB Tony Romo pass intended for WR Dez Bryant. Revis tied the team record with a 100- yard interception return vs. MIA (10/17). Currently, Revis leads the team with 4 interceptions and 16 passes defensed. CB Antonio Cromartie, who was re-signed to a long-term deal with the Jets during the offseason, is also back in the fold and has 3 interceptions. He and Revis form what may be the best cornerback duo in the league. The safety tandem of Eric Smith and Brodney Pool split time in 2010 as starters and both re-signed with the Jets for the 2011 season. Pool started 12 of the 2010 contests, but Smith, who started six games last year, got the starting nod in 2011. He is second on the team with 102 tackles and has 2.5 sacks this year. He recorded the fifth interception of his career vs. JAX (9/18). Pool had earned three starts prior to an injury to Jim Leonhard and assumes the role of starter for the remainder of the season. To date, he has recorded 30 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and a PD. Second-year cornerback and 2010 first-round selection Kyle Wilson is joined by Donald Strickland, a former Jet who spent 2010 with the San Diego Chargers, as nickel cornerbacks. Wilson registered the first INT of his career vs. SD (10/23) and has two for the season. The secondary is rounded out with Marquice Cole, Ellis Lankster, who recovered two fumbles on special teams at PHI (12/18), Isaiah Trufant, who recovered a blocked punt for the game-tying touchdown vs. DAL (9/11), and Tracy Wilson. After starting 13 games this season and recording 60 tackles and an interception S Jim Leonhard was placed on IR (12/12) following an injury to his patellar tendon in the Jets 37-10 win vs. KC (12/11). The team added S Gerald Alexander to the roster (12/13) and he recorded a special teams tackle at PHI (12/18), in his first game as a Jet. Specialists (3), Returning Starters (2), Coach Mike Westhoff and Ben Kotwica: Kicker Nick Folk and long snapper Tanner Purdum return to a group that added punter T.J. Conley. Folk has connected on 18-of-23 field goal attempts this season, including a game-winning 50-yarder vs. DAL (9/11). In 2011, he has made seven-of-10 field goals from 45 yards or longer including three of 50-or-more yards and one of 49 yards. As a Jet, he has converted three game-winning FGs, including an overtime kick at DET (11/7/10), a kick at IND (1/8) in the AFC Wild Card playoff game and vs. DAL (9/11). Conley has a gross average of 43.0 yards, a net average of 38.7 and has placed 26 of his 78 punts this season inside-the-20. 6 R15-4 - Overview by position CLICK HERE FOR THE 2011 NEW YORK JETS INTERACTIVE MEDIA GUIDE

REX RYAN RYAN=DEFENSE Like most sons, Rex Ryan always knew he wanted to be in the family business. For the Ryans, the family business is stifling defense. In 1985, his father, Buddy Ryan, led what is widely considered to be the best defense in NFL history. Known simply as the 85 Bears, Buddy s unit allowed 12.4 points a game. For the season, they allowed 20 touchdowns (9 rushing, 10 passing and 1 on a return). Rex has been a part of some of the NFL s best defenses himself. In 2000, he served as the defensive line coach for a Baltimore Ravens team that allowed an NFL-best 10.3 points a game. In 16 games, the 2000 Ravens allowed 18 touchdowns (5 rushing, 11 passing and 2 on returns). As a defensive coordinator in 2006, Rex almost matched his father s 1985 feat, allowing 12.6 points a game with the Ravens. Rex s 2006 team led the NFL in 11 categories: yards per game (264.1), yards per play (4.51), rushing yard per game (75.9), rushing yards per play (3.31), interception rate (5.5%), sacks per pass attempt (11.79%), first downs per game (14.8), third-down conversions allowed (28.9%), red zone pct. (33.3%) and points allowed a game (12.6). In 2009, Rex returned the family business to the Jets, where his father earned his first NFL job. Rex took a defense that ranked 10th in scoring for the 2008 season to the top of the NFL rankings in seven categories: yards per game (252.3), yards per play (4.24), passing yards a game (153.7), passing yards per play (4.91), first downs allowed (14.8), third-down conversions allowed (31.5%) and points allowed (14.8). SAFETY FIRST UNDER RYAN Since Rex Ryan became the head coach of the Jets in 2009, the team leads the NFL with six safeties (including the postseason). WR Santonio Holmes, G Brandon Moore, NT Sione Pouha, CB Darrelle Revis, QB Mark Sanchez and S Eric Smith will wear the C on their jerseys for the 2011 season. Coach Ryan had this to say about his selection of captains. It was not voted on. This is something that I chose. I chose these guys based on what I see on the practice field, the game field, the classroom, their leadership, what they mean to their units, the pride and everything else. That s what I m looking for in those individuals. AFFECTING THE QUARTERBACK The Jets affect quarterbacks in more ways than just sacks. Since 2009, the Jets rank first in the NFL in opponents completion percentage (52.2%) and opponents passer rating (69.0). 2011: 12 different Jets combined for 32 sacks, 14 less than the NFL-leading Eagles with 46. 70.7 passer rating - third in NFL 54.5 completion percentage - fourth in NFL 2010: 14 different Jets combined for 40 sacks, eight less than the NFLleading Steelers with 48. 77.1 passer rating sixth in NFL 50.7 completion percentage best in NFL 2009: 10 different Jets combined for 32 sacks, 16 less than the NFL-leading Vikings with 48. 58.8 passer rating best in NFL. 51.7 completion percentage best in NFL. 8 TD passes allowed best in NFL. NO PENALTIES The Jets committed no penalties in the team s victory over DAL (9/11), something they have done just five other times in franchise history. The last time they accomplished the feat was vs. the Philadelphia Eagles (10/14/07). DEFENSIVELY UNMATCHED Since becoming the Defensive Coordinator with BLT prior to the start of the 2005 season, Coach Ryan has posted elite defensive numbers in every major defensive category. Adding his numbers at BLT from 2005-08 to the Jets defensive numbers in his first two seasons as a head coach, Ryan ranks first in total defense, passing defense, and third-down conversion percentage defense. His units rank third in scoring defense and fourth in take-aways and rushing defense.
