Race Report Geoff Salmon Sportsvoice IPSWICH KART CLUB ROUND SEVEN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP FEATURING KA3 SENIOR AND KA3 JUNIOR TITLES With a great representation of Clubs as far away as Rockhampton, Cairns, McKay, Gladstone, Cooloola Coast, Toowoomba, Warwick and even Sportsman Enduro Karting of Qld, from the North, and Coffs Harbor and Lismore from across the border along with the great support from the Ipswich faithful we were to see a pre entry of 102 drivers at the close. After entries closed on a beautiful day we were to see 140 competitors along with spanner men and women arrive a Ipswich Kart Club for the seventh round of the Club Championship for 2017 and also the Prince and Princess of KA4 Junior Light and KA3 Junior Titles for 2017. With my good friend Chris Robinson at the helm as Clerk of Course the meeting got underway; the system of gridding to be in accordance with State Regulations - Club Competition Format No.13 the feature classes will be KA4 Junior Light and KA3 Junior with all classes being offered for competition. A Sportsman Class approved through State Regulations will be permitted to compete in the Competition Group on which that Sportsman Class is based. Cadet 9 and 12 Beginner To give all the opportunity to compete, Ipswich Kart Club introduced these two classes to encourage youngsters to get the feel of racing at an open meeting in preparation for advancing into the official Cadet 9 and Cadet 12 classes.

Cadet 9 Beginners 1st: Patrick Buckley Jnr 2nd: Dean Silcock 3rd: Luke Rinaldi Seven drivers fronted to determine Pole position in the Cadet 9 Beginners and after the 6 minute session was concluded Dean Silcock (#38P) snatched Pole with a time of 57.393; P2: Patrick Buckley (#50P) 58.356; P3: Luke Rinaldi (#27P) 58.473; P4: Isaac Heming (#99P) 1.00.072; P5: Max Chattin (#63P) 1.00.501; P6: Cole Jones (#22P) 1.00.592; P7: Christiaan Chateau (#88P) 1.01.785 seconds. After some great racing throughout the Heats and the Final we were to see Patrick Buckley take the overall win in Cadet 9 Beginners from Dean Silcock in second and Luke Rinaldi home in third, fastest lap in the Final going to Patrick Buckley with a time of 57.377 seconds recorded on his twelfth lap of the journey. Cadet 12 Beginners 1st: Carl Creed 2nd: Ryan Silcock 3rd: Ryan MacMillan With a field of five presenting for qualifying Cadet 12 Beginners Ryan McMillan (#9P) took the Pole position with a time of56.731; P2: Ryan Silcock (#11P) 56.976; P3: ; Carl Creed (#17P) 57.091 seconds; P4:Thomas Pointon (#5P) 57.138; P5: Cody Nankervis (#18P) recorded a D.N.F. after completing five laps. Again after some enjoyable racing for the spectators viewing pleasure we were to see Carl Creed take the win from Ryan Silcock in second and Ryan MacMillan home in third, fastest lap recorded by Ryan MacMillan with a time of 56.731 seconds recorded on his fifth lap of the journey. Cadet 9 1st: Lincoln Taylor 2nd: Beau Bromhead

3rd: Kayden Thompson A big field of fifteen youngsters all keen to record the fastest lap and start from the front row saw Lincoln Taylor (#78) record a time of 56.083 seconds to take Pole; P2: Kayden Thompson (#25) 56.180; P3: Brendan Martin (#41) 56.185; P4: Kody Watson (#88) 56.334; P5: Luke Trost (#14) 56.398; P6: Michael Janusz (#7) 56.609: P7: Max James (#8) 56.708; P8: Isaac McNeill (#10) 56.745; P9: Jackson Cooper (#98) 57.046; P10: Corbin Caseur (#89) 57.115. After three Heats of close racing the Final only to counts was crunch time for these youngsters and a distance of thirteen laps (14.04Klms) would decide the podium positions for the day, Lincoln Taylor led from start to finish with Beau Bromhead, fourth on the first lap moving past Luke Trost on lap two then Brendan Martin on lap four to go on to finish just 94 one hundreds of a second behind our winner and record the fastest lap time a 56.017 second lap on his 10th lap, third home going to Kayden Thompson with fourth Brendan Martin followed by Luke Trost fifth and Kody Watson sixth. Cadet 12 1st: Ethan Feather 2nd: Tristan Griffin 3rd: Jack Wells The front row for the start of this class was to see Ethan Feather (#26) with a time of 54.657 seconds and Tristan Griffin (#83) a 54.810 second lap off the front row, this pair to continue their dice throughout the day except for the third Heat where Feather was to record a D.N.F., the Final over thirteen laps, Ethan Feather making up ten spots on the completion of lap one, now eighth, with Tristan Griffin holding point, Dominic Attard second for the first three laps, before dropping to third on lap four, fourth early Jack Wells from Marcus Watson now fifth, sixth Alice Buckley, moving up to fifth for the second last lap before finishing sixth, Watson holding fifth through until lap twelve before moving up to finish fourth, Tristan Griffin holding onto first and finally succumbing to pressure from Ethan Feather just three laps from home, Jack Wells driving well to finish third, fastest lap recorded by Ethan Feather with a time of 54.768 seconds recorded on his eighth lap of the journey. Junior Max 1st: Leorra Devissor Leorra was the only competitor for this class, so congrats to her for her 150 points added to her Club Championship score.

With the two feature classes being what was the Prince and Princess of J racing before the introduction of the KA3 and KA4 classes, we were to see a large number of entries for the KA4 Junior Light class as we have come to expect (18) and we got under way with Qualifying for these classes. KA4 Junior Light Qualifying A six minute session was to see the full field come out to determine who would start from the valued Pole position and at the end of the session Pole: went to Declan Matthews (#74)with a time of 51.186 seconds; P2 Ryan Newton (#66) 51.246, P3 Luke Pink (#49) 51.252, P4 Blake Lockett (#11) 51.336, P5 Jack Grambauer (#72) 51.345, P6 Kyle Evans (#34) 51.362, P7 Oscar Targett (#22)51.427, P8 Kurtis Tennant (#57) 51.543; P9 Oscar Comley (#88) 51.650; P10 Ash Campbell (#68) 51.747 seconds. With just.561 of a second separating the first ten drivers we were in for something special. KA4 Junior Light Heat 1 Ryan Newton was away well dropping to second at the end of lap 1, making the pass back on Declan Matthews and going on to lead the rest of the Heat, second place going to Declan Matthews, the margin after 8 laps, 0752 of a second, third moving up past Jack Grambauer on the fourth lap was Luke Pink, fourth to Jack Grambauer dropping just the one spot, fifth to Blake Lockett passing Oscar Targett early, sixth Oscar Targett dropping just the one spot as well, seventh Oscar Comley having a great dice throughout with Kurtis Tennant, who ended up eighth, ninth Kyle Evans, who got to eighth one lap from home before dropping back to finish behind Kyle Evans and tenth going to Ash Campbell, the fastest lap recorded by Ryan Newton with a time of 51.390 on his seventh lap of the journey. KA4 Junior Light Heat 2 Ryan Newton continued his run in front to take the honours in Heat 2, second home with a margin of.354 of a second was Declan Matthews with Luke Pink finishing one better than the first Heat in third, fourth to Kurtis Tennant, up four spots after the completion of the first Heat, Blake Lockett finishing fifth, sixth going to Oscar Targett, seventh after a battle with Kurtis Tennant came Oscar Comley, Kyle Evans finishing ninth and Ash Campbell filling the tenth spot, fastest lap again by Ryan Newton with a time of 51.390 seconds recorded again on his seventh lap of the journey. KA4 Junior Light Heat 3

Ryan Newton was the one to beat, with a convincing win in Heat 3, the margin out to.829 of a second over Declan Matthews with just.182 of a second back to Luke Pink in third, Kurtis Tennant not able to improve on his run in Heat 3, finishing again fourth, Oscar Comley into fifth with Oscar Targett up from ninth on lap one to finish sixth, fastest lap again to Ryan Newton with a time of 51.476 seconds recorded on his fifth lap. KA4 Junior Light Final (18 laps) It all came down to the Final only counting over 18 laps and Ryan Newton was not to be denied with an all the way win, a battle royal taking place for the minor podium positions that went right to the penultimate lap, Luke Pink lasting to snatch second from Kurtis Tennant just.237 of a second away in third, Oscar Comley finishing fourth with Jack Grambauer in fifth the margin between these two after eighteen laps just 54 one hundreds of a second, the margin between first and second a whopping 2.105 seconds (shows the intensity of the battle for the minors) fastest lap this time going to Blake Lockett (who finished sixth) with a time of 51.383 seconds recorded on his sixth lap. KA3 Junior Qualifying. With a field of eleven of the best in this class, we were in for some hectic laps to determine Pole for this class, after the six minute session was completed the first three rows of the grids was as follows: Pole: went to Thomas Cooper (#55) with a time of 50.078 seconds; P2: Conner Roberts (#19) 50.264; P3: Zayd Tones (#27) 50.500; P4: Jai Brown (#2) 50.659; P5: Dillon Rhonda (#32) 50.694 and P6: Harrison Stock (#20) 50.734 seconds. KA3 Junior Heat 1 Thomas Cooper was untroubled to take the win from second placed Zayd Tones the margin 2.715 seconds, a dice for the third position between Jai Brown and Connor Roberts finishing with Jai Brown getting up to hold onto third by.690 seconds with Connor Roberts fourth and Dillon Rhoda fifth, fastest lap recorded by Thomas Cooper with a time of 50.357 seconds recorded on his fifth lap. KA3 Junior Heat 2 We were to see the same five drivers, finishing in different positions than Heat one, Cooper again the win and the fastest lap a 50.422 seconds over Jai Brown in second, third going to Zayd Tones, fourth to Connor Roberts and fifth to Dillon Rhoda, Cooper s lap recorded on lap six of the eight laps required for the journey. KA3 Junior Heat 3

We were again to watch Cooper take the win in the third Heat, a margin of 2.460 seconds back to second placed Zayd Tones with Jai Brown filling the third spot followed by Roberts fourth and Rhoda in fifth, fastest lap being recorded by Roberts with a time of 50.236 seconds recorded on his seventh lap. KA3 Junior Final (18 laps) Again with a big Final only counting to determine who would stand on the top of the podium, Thomas Cooper doing the job with an all the way win, the margin a massive 6.788 seconds, over second placed Zayd Tones who fought for the full eighteen laps with Jai Brown before getting and keeping the advantage on lap eleven, Brown finishing third.462 of a second away with Roberts fourth again just.267 of a second away (shows the competitiveness between these three drivers) next home 9.126 seconds behind came Harrison Stock, fastest lap recorded by Cooper with a time of 50.427 seconds recorded on his sixteenth lap of the journey. KA3 Senior Light 1st: Daley Martin 2nd: Dale Zimmerman 3rd: Lachlan Nichols A small field of this class was to be conjoined with Tag 125 Heavy to determine the outcome of the days competition with Daley Martin standing on the top step of the podium from Dale Zimmerman in second and Lachlan Nichols running home in third, fastest lap of the Final going to Dale Zimmerman (#88) with a time of 51.047 seconds on his penultimate lap of the Final. TaG 125 Heavy 1st: Daniel Creed 2nd: Jarad Neinert 3rd: Chris Williams Just seven drivers (this class dropping in numbers this year from previous years)drove onto the racing surface to determine who would start from Pole and after the six minute session came to an end; Pole went to Daniel Creed (#9) with a time of 49.778 seconds.

After some interesting racing throughout the three Heats we were to see Daniel Creed take the win from Jarad Neinert (#18) by a margin of 2.370 seconds with Chris Williams a further 5.079 seconds away in third, fastest lap going to our winner with a time of 49.778 seconds on his ninth lap. TaG 125 Restricted Light 1st: Dylan Rudd 2nd: Andrew Andreou 3rd: Ashley Davis A class continuing to grow in numbers and today was no exception, a total of sixteen drivers all ready to put their best time forward to capture the Pole position, after the mandatory six minute session came to an end we saw Pole go to Dylan Rudd (#99) with a time of 50.891 seconds, joining him on the front row was Andrew Andreou (#88) with a time of 51.454 seconds, the second row comprised Ian Everest (#27) and Ashley Davis (#25) with times of 51.630 and 51.639 seconds respectively. After three rounds of racing with the results almost as per qualifying for the first three positions we get to the Final and the first four positions unchallenged throughout the entire distance of fifteen laps, Dylan Rudd recording an all the way win over Andrew Andreou with a margin of 3.929 seconds, a further 3.237 seconds away in third came Ashley Davis with Steven Edmunds just.100 of a second away in fourth, fastest lap to our winner with a time of 51.082 seconds recorded on his eighth lap. TaG 125 Restricted Medium 1st: Jackson Bermingham 2nd: Jason Smith 3rd: Eric Hoeger Jackson Bermingham (#32) was untroubled to take the win in this class recording the fastest qualifying time 52.817 seconds and the fastest time in all but the first Heat, Heat two 53.006, Heat three 53.032 and the Final a time of 52.978 seconds, the first Heat best time going to Phill Straughen (#2) (Master) with a time of 53.036 seconds, Eric Hoeger (#15) seventh in qualifying a 53.344, tenth in Heat one 53.592, seventh in Heat two a 53.702, ninth in Heat three 53.431 and a great drive to finish overall third with a best time of 53.229.

Tag 125 Restricted Masters 1st: Gary Payne 2nd: Tim McDonald 3rd: Craig Holmwood Craig Holmwood (#55) recorded the fastest time for the Master class with a time of 53.470; next to him came Gary Payne (#45) 53.503; then Michael Smith (#33) 53.677; P4: Allan Beaumont (#54) 54.062; P5: Geoff Milgate (#11P) 54.333; P6: Craig Westwood (#65) 54.762; P7 Linus Brown (#7P) 56.331 seconds. TaG 125 Light Heat 1 Jace Matthews dominated the first Heat with an all the way win over Kade Vink, who dropped back to fourth at the end of lap one, before moving forward past Osborne, then Sagaidak by lap four to finish 2.917 seconds behind Matthews, Sagaidak finishing third, Eryn Osborne fourth (up from Lismore) Ben Jurczak fifth, Seb Blindell sixth, Scott Sorensen seventh with Marc Tulloch eighth and Luke Collett ninth ( also from Lismore) followed by Mitch Wooller and Kyle Zink bringing up the final spot in the Heat, fastest lap recorded by Jace Matthews with a time of 48.858 seconds recorded on his penultimate lap of the journey. TaG 125 Light Heat 2 Scott Sorensen made a great recovery finishing second in this Heat after an unusual tenth fastest in qualifying and coming from seventh on the first lap through to finish behind winner Jace Matthews, the margin 2.369 seconds, third, a further 2.735 seconds away going to Kade Vink, fourth just 55 one hundreds back to Seb Blindell followed by Eyrn Osborne then Ben Jurczak with Luke Collett finishing seventh, next home Mitch Wooller from Marc Tulloch with Kyle Zink bringing up the

final spot, Bailey Sagaidak recording a D.N.F. after finishing only five laps, Jace Matthews again recording the fastest lap with a time of 48.878 seconds on his fourth lap. TaG 125 Light Heat 3 Another all the way win to Jace Matthews was to see Sebastian Blindell finish second the margin 1.832 seconds, third in this Heat going to Bailey Sagaidak after his D.N.F. in the previous Heat, Scott Sorensen finishing fourth and recording the fastest time with a 48.734 second lap recorded on his seventh lap of the journey, next home Marc Tulloch from Kade Vink and then Ben Jurczak followed by Eryn Osborne, Kyle Zink, Luke Collett and Mitch Wooller. TaG 125 Light Final (15 laps) Jace Matthews drove brilliantly to take out the Final the margin 1.702 seconds over Sebastian Blindell with Marc Tulloch finally getting the better of Scott Sorensen after a struggle early to finish third, next home going to Scott with Kade Vink home in front of Eryn Osborne, throw Bailey Sagaidak into this mix and we were to see an exciting exchange between these three over the fifteen laps of the Final, Ben Jurczak and Luke Collett with Kyle Zink finishing tenth, Mitch Wooller recording a D.N.F. on the tenth lap, fastest of the Final going to Scott Sorensen with a time of 48.400 on his eighth lap of the journey. Open Performance Qualifying Again we greeted a field of open performance drivers and on this occasion a field of seven were to contest for the Pole, Scott Sorensen (#1) taking on his second class drive on the day to come away with the Pole position a time of 47.601 seconds; P2: James Foster (#27) 47.984; P3: Tristan Ellery (#10) 48.293; P4: Brock Lannoy (#69) 48.630 (starting to feel comfortable with a six speed gearbox) P5: Dustin McKenna (#37) 50.324; P6: Steven Ellery (#99) with a time of 50.334 seconds, Sam Houston (#6) not recording a time in qualifying. Open Performance Heat 1 Scott Sorensen finished a massive 6.662 seconds in front of Sam Houston to take the win in the first Heat, third going to Tristan Ellery, fourth to James Foster and fifth Brock Lannoy, fastest lap by Scott Sorensen with a time of 47.660 Open Performance Heat 2 Scott Sorensen was to continue his winning performance taking the win in Heat two by a margin of 3.483 seconds over Sam Houston with Tristan Ellery a further 10.473 seconds away in third, fastest lap again to Sorensen with a time of 47.6123 seconds recorded on his final lap of the Heat.

Open Performance Heat 3 Scott Sorensen continued to win with a substantial margin in the third Heat 4.654 seconds ahead of Sam Houston, third home going to Tristan Ellery with James Foster filling the fourth spot, fastest lap by Sorensen with a time of 47.217 seconds on his final lap of the journey. Open Performance Final (15 laps) Scott Sorensen was untroubled to take the win in the Final, the margin back to Sam Houston 6.465 seconds, third going to James Foster and fourth to Broc Lannoy, the fastest lap recorded by Scott Sorensen with a time of 47.213 seconds recorded on his seventh lap Steve Ellery and Dustin McKenna both recorded a D.N.F.
