The Megève ski resort is located in the French Alps, in Upper Savoy, some 70 km from Geneva and just an hour and a half from its airport. With a skiable area of over 400 km, it offers 217 pistes. It has 116 ski lifts and a snowpark. Students will be skiing at Mont d Arbois and Rochebrune. www.megeve.com The ski resort is located 20 minutes away from our École Internationale where our students will stay during the White Week. The school includes halls of residence and a range of learning spaces: arts halls, maker lab, group work rooms, gyms, labs... Wi-Fi connection. The buildings blend perfectly into the Alpine environment, cover an area of 15,000 m² and have all the facilities necessary for first-class stay. Why the Megève ski resort? Because in the ski stations provided by Megève-Les Alpes, every participant can enjoy skiing on pistes of the correct difficulty for them, depending on their technical and sporting ability, and on their independence and personal skills. Also... In the mornings, 3 hours of ski instruction with qualified instructors from the French Ski School (ESF). At the end of the week, students with be given a card and a badge with their level. Both accreditations certify them to ski at any ski resort in the world since the ESF is recognised around globally. At the end of class a hot meal will be served on the piste, followed by more skiing to practice further. Students are supervised by school teachers and staff from SEK-Les Alpes including an alpine ski instructor over this timetable. After the day skiing there will be talks on mountain safety: how to behave in the snow, suitable safety equipment and how to use it. Following the theoretical class students will be shown how to construct an igloo, they will be given a snack to eat inside it, followed by an avalanche drill. On the final day and to cap off their trip, there will be a sleigh race. Evening activities will follow on from dinner at the. From classic board games like Pictionary, to films, twister and even karaoke. On the last night there will be a fancy dress party (students should bring their costume with them from Spain). The week ends with cultural outings such as a visit to Annecy, Chamonix and Megève and optional activities such as ice skating or snow shoeing. La Pinilla Infant School Year 3 and Primary School years 1 and 2. Limited places. From 21 to 23 February 2018. La Pinilla. La Pinilla is located in the Sierra de Ayllón massif. It is a cosy resort, with fun pistes free from large crowds. The resort offers 15.6 km of skiable areas, with 24 pistes (5 green, 6 blue and 13 red). The pistes are accessible via 13 ski-lifts (1 gondola lift, 3 chairlifts, 7 surface lifts and 2 belts) with the capacity to transport 12,700 people an hour. It sports an incline of 538 metres, the only resort in the Sistema Central with that height difference, which it was chosen in 1975 to host the European Ski Cup championships. www.lapinilla.es Accommodation at Hostal La Pinilla. Sierra Nevada is the highest and most southerly ski resort in Spain. It boasts the longest skiable pistes and with the greatest height difference in Spain (1,200 metres) and great quality snow. SEK White Week 2018 snow culture and sport general conditions Registration and payment Participation in this sporting event is optional, but tutor and year co-ordinator approval is mandatory, in the light of each student s educational progress. Discounts and other reductions: 1. A discount of 5% of the published price will be applied to all applications received by the School at least one month prior to the start of the course. 2. The Centre also applies a special discount of 3% of the total for a second child enrolled on the course and 5% for the third and subsequent family members. By enrolling for the White Week you agree to abide by the rules established by the Centre and those of the SEK Educational Group Internal Code of Practice. Number of participants In order to run and organise the courses efficiently, a minimum number of registrations will be required. The SEK Educational Group may cancel or suspend the running of a course in the event that, one week before the start, the required number of participants has not been reached. In this event, the activity will not be invoiced. Places are limited and will be assigned in strict order of registration. Cancellation After registration has been completed and in the event of cancellation by the signatory, percentage payments to meet costs incurred will be required as follows: - Cancellation between 45 and 30 days prior to departure 30% of cost - Cancellation between 29 and 15 days prior to departure 50% of cost - Cancellation between 14 to 7 days prior to departure 70% of cost - Cancellation between 6 and 3 days prior to departure 85% of cost - Cancellation from 2 days before up until the date of departure 100% of cost In the case of cancellation due to serious illness, hospitalisation or accident, the agency contracted by the School will request the return of all payments made to suppliers, provided that an official medical certificate is attached. This does not imply that the total amount paid will be returned, since the agency depends on the good faith of its suppliers in each case, in that that they will not impose any management charges in case of cancellation, provided that their own suppliers do not charge for their services. Publicity The SEK Educational Group reserves the right to use and exploit for publicity purposes any photographs or images of participants, or the work or activities undertaken by them and others on the SEK White Weeks. Responibility The SEK Educational Group will not be held responsible for extra costs, complications, losses, damages, accidents, delays or inconveniences caused due to the failures of third parties in relation to the benefits offered by the reservation, either during the course of the activities or during the transportation of the participants. The application form should be signed, dated and returned by the legal parent or guardian who will assume full financial responsibility in respect of the registered participant for the following: A. Accidental or other damage to buildings, equipment, material and other objects being the property of, hired by or used by the SEK Educational Group. B. Loss of equipment, clothing or any other personal effects or objects belonging to the student. In order to avoid possible confusion and loss, it is recommended that all Students clothing and personal effects are marked. C. Return costs for those Students who need to return for specific reasons such as health, accident, bad behaviour or other reasons judged to be appropriate by the SEK Educational Group. D. Participants money for personal spending and shopping, except for such articles as are clearly specified in the application. E. All hired or purchased equipment considered necessary and of use to the student for the holiday, lost or returned in poor condition. F. It is each student s responsibility to carry all documentation necessary for foreign travel: individual passport or Identity Card with authorisation. All documents should be current for the entire period of the programme. Behaviour of participants Students must respect and obey the course disciplinary rules, published in the Internal Code of Practice, both in the teaching facilities where classes are held and outside. In particular, with respect to timekeeping, obligations with regard to attendance at classes, meals, social conduct and conduct towards teachers and other course members, prohibition on the consumption of tobacco, alcohol and drugs. The SEK Group reserves the right to send home any participant who demonstrates behaviour incompatible with the smooth running of the course or who does not observe the rules and regulations of the in which they are staying. Insurance Courses include insurance that covers travel, civil responsibility and medical assistance. The conditions may be consulted in the SEK Schools Secretariat. The SEK Group will take all necessary steps to ensure the well-being and health of the student. Signing the application authorises the SEK Educational Group to take all necessary steps to obtain medical treatment for the participant in the event of accident or illness, where it has been impossible to contact their parent or guardian. All costs of such medical treatment will be the responsibility of the parents or legal guardians in the event that they are not covered by the course insurance. Important Taking part in any SEK White Week implies the express acceptance by the parent or guardian and by the student of each and every one of the general conditions described.
