CampOutrageous 2016 Cast Auditions The Audition (Speaking and Non-Speaking Roles) Auditions are open to Bellevue members 6 th grade Adult (Or those in the process of becoming members.) Please come to one of the following: Monday, February 22, 2016 6:30 pm in the Choir Room Tuesday, February 23, 2016 6:30 pm in the Choir Room Prepare to stay until around 9:00 pm, but know this time is flexible, depending on participation. Read this packet thoroughly, be familiar with Script pages for the character(s) for which you are auditioning. Also, fill out the Audition Form completely and bring with you to the audition. Please be sure and list all conflicts that would prevent you from attending a rehearsal or performance, if chosen for the cast. Callbacks: Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 @ 7:30 pm in the Choir Room. You will be contacted by email after your first audition if we need you to come to callbacks. After the Audition: Once the cast has been decided, everyone who auditioned will be notified by email. Please make sure we have current information on file for you. Cast rehearsals: Wed. evenings (Beginning March 2 8:00 to 9:30 pm (Special Occasion Room) Sunday evenings-7:30 to 9:30pm (Or when the PM service is over) Choir Room Rehearsals will begin Wednesday, March 2, 2016 No Rehearsals on: Easter Sunday evening (March 27) Mother s Day Sunday evening (May 8) *Cast Members will need to be available for photo shoots and video shoots (Date and Times TBA) as well as rehearsals and performances. ****You must be able to attend these final rehearsals: Tuesday, May 31 6:30 to 10:00 pm Wednesday, June 1 6:30 to 10:00 pm Thursday, June 2 6:30 to 10:00 pm Friday, June 3 6:30 to 10:00 pm Saturday, June 4 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (Lunch provided) Sunday, June 5 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm and 7:30 to 9:30 pm (if needed) Assemblies and Family Nights We will perform for 3 assemblies every morning. After the last assembly, we will rehearse the next day s drama. After Lunch (provided by Bellevue) on Friday, June 10, we will rehearse all afternoon for the Family Night Presentation. Dinner will be provided by Bellevue. So on Friday, June 10, once you arrive at Bellevue that morning for the assemblies, you will be here all day and night until about 10:00 pm. 2016 CampOutrageous STORY A highly specialized team of experts called Team R.E.S.C.U.E. (Rescue and Extraction School for Crushing Undersea Evil), search the Seven Seas, trying to keep others from going into the Ocean of Cinn. They are led by Commander Ado Nai, who assigns the team to places all over the ocean. But everywhere they go, Team R.E.S.C.U.E. is in danger from Mortis Rex, a terrible sea monster that lures people into the Ocean of Cinn. At the appointed time, Mortis Rex intends to empty the Ocean of Cinn into his bottomless home, the Great Abyss, where they will be prisoners forever. The team of R.E.S.C.U.E. have devoted their lives to Commander Nai, and the power of His Spirit living in them gives them special abilities when the battles get fierce. has always wanted those powers for himself, so he sets out to do anything he can to meet Commander Nai and become a member of Team R.E.S.C.U.E. Along the way, Zack will experience dangerous rescues, attacks by Mortis Rex, and the secret of Team R.E.S.C.U.E. s power. But when battle for those in the Ocean of Cinn starts, will that power be enough? Come be a part of CampOutrageous 2016 and find out. 3
2016 CampOutrageous CHARACTERS **ALL characters may be played by members of Bellevue (or those in the process of becoming members) who are in the 6 th grade or older. MALE only Captain Shepherd the leader of Team R.E.S.C.U.E. Lt. Nick the first officer Zack wants to become a member of Team R.E.S.C.U.E. FEMALE only Mina rescued from the bottom of a well MALE or FEMALE (Names could be changed to reflect male or female casting.) The crew of R.E.S.C.U.E. Charley Tank Speck Binx Pete EXTRAS Approximately 15-17 extras will be needed for the production. If you are wanting to be an extra, then you will need to come to the audition (choose one of the days) and let us know that you are wanting to be an extra when you sign in. There will be an audition of some kind that you will be a part of on either of the audition days you come to that will let the Production Team see how you act in a group setting under certain given circumstances. Spraying Supersoakers, Moving Props onstage or off Acting: as prisoners in the Ocean of Cinn Operating puppets Flying Doing choreography Other duties as needed for the production **Rehearsals for Extras will begin in late April. This audition script is not a part of the performance script. It is written simply to allow each character to express their personality. READING SCRIPT Ok! Welcome, everyone to the first annual Team R.E.S.C.U.E. Comic Con! SPECK We are going to show you what we do in our undersea world from day to day. BINX But first, let s introduce ourselves! I m Binx, and I am a deep sea diving specialist. That means whenever someone needs to go outside SARA for a repair, I m the one on call! PETE Pete here. I make sure the engines run smooth and fast in the sub. LT. NICK I m First Officer Lieutenant Nick second in command to Captain Shepherd, and I am the computer geek. I talk to SARA and keep her happy. No, SARA isn t one of our team. Well, she is, but she s not human. LT. NICK SARA is the on- board Computer system that monitors everything from the temperature of the ocean to tomorrow s food menu. SPECK It stands for Saving and Rescuing ALL! PETE Unless you make her mad. Then, it s Scream And Run Away! LT. NICK The last crew member is our audio specialist Tank. 5
TANK Hi.ya ll. Come on, Tank! Tell them what you do. TANK Listen. BINX A real talker, isn t he? SHEPHERD Last but not least, I m Captain Shepherd. I lead Team R.E.S.C.U.E. and direct the rescue missions. These guys are special and I do everything I can to keep them healthy and focused. Keep em full keep em focused! Great, Zack. You re quoting a cereal commercial. That s original. I m serious! I eat a healthy breakfast every morning! I start off with 2 Pop Tarts, followed by a large bowl of Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries, and to make sure I get enough protein, I eat a big slice of pepperoni pizza from the night before. Stop. Just stop. SHEPHERD Zack and Mina were both rescued by our team just before we came over here. Why don t you tell the folks what you ve seen so far? Well, this ain t no school play, I can tell you that! These guys are INTENSE! 6
Yeah, the sub s pretty cool, but they sleep in these itty-bitty little bunk beds TANK This ain t no luxury cruise. Yeah, I know, but still. Come on! These guys have a high-stress job! Not hardly. My idea of a high stress job is one where you have to work with other people. What about you? I m going to be a model. I m going to be the next Maybelline girl. So maybe it s Maybelline and maybe it s Photoshop. SHEPHERD Pipe down, guys. We have work to do. If you want to become a member of Team Rescue, there are certain things you have to be able to do. That s right. A good attitude is a must. About everything and we don t acknowledge age in any way. BINX That s not what my dad says. He says things get really exciting in your forties, because at any point you could sneeze wrong and end up getting emergency back surgery. LT. NICK Our thought is every day is a gift. 7
SPECK If that s true, I d like to know where I can return Mondays. TANK We respect nature. I did my science fair project on why dogs smell worse than humans And why do dogs smell worse than humans? Because they have four armpits. Next question: Charley, what is your favorite saying? Definitely to respect your elders. They made it through school without Google or Wikipedia. PETE That s pretty good. My saying is Keep the dream alive hit the snooze button. LT. NICK We re running out of time. Before we go, we need to share with everyone why being a part of Team RESCUE is so important to us. I can tell you that it s all because of Commander Nai. He is the head of this operation. He made us, and He keeps us. SHEPHERD We like to say the Commander sees us, He knows us, He saves us. We have a much different life with Commander Nai and it s a life we want everyone to have. 8
BINX Don t get us wrong we still have problems, and struggle with our attitudes sometimes. But the difference is Commander Ado Nai. So Commander Nai is your big secret? TANK He s not a secret. Anyone can know the Commander, if they really want to. SHEPHERD So, to end out our time with you, each one of us is going to quickly share how Commander Nai changed your life. (Charley, Speck, Binx, Tank, Pete, Lt. Nick and Shepherd give a few sentences about how God (Commander Nai) has changed their life, their attitude, their thoughts or outlook a quick testimony about God s goodness). 9
