EASTVIEW VALLEY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION GIRLS TRAVELING FASTPITCH SOFTBALL BYLAWS ARTICLE I NAME The name of this association shall be the Eastview Valley Girls Traveling Fastpitch Softball Athletic Association hereinafter referred to as EV Fastpitch. ARTICLE II PURPOSE The purpose of EV Fastpitch shall be to promote a positive competitive attitude; instilling self-confidence and nurturing the principles of teamwork, character, respect (for both our teammates and opponents) and integrity in both victory and defeat. The emphasis is on developing the fundamentals of softball knowledge and skill, teamwork, self-confidence, and having fun. ARTICLE III AFFILIATIONS Eastview Valley Athletic Association (EVAA) Eastview Athletic Association (EVAA) Apple Valley Athletic Association (VAA) Amateur Softball Association (ASA) North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Minnesota Metro Fastpitch League (MMFL) Tri-County Fastpitch League ARTICLE IV PARTICIPATION Section 1: Eligibility A.) Eligible players are any player residing in or attending a public or private school located within the draw areas of Apple Valley High School and Eastview High School. Players meeting these criteria shall be considered eligible to play softball for the EV Fastpitch Association. These areas can be found as defined by the MMFL draw areas at the following url: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=zjdv0fpcy4ne.kucg5rvwgaxw

Any player who was on an Eastview or Apple Valley Fastpitch team as of July 1, 2015 who does not meet these qualifications shall be allowed to play for EV Fastpitch as an eligible player. B.) Ineligible players are any players who do not meet the criteria for being considered an eligible player. C.) The issue of eligibility shall apply as current rules. D.) To be eligible players/families must have paid all applicable fees from previous EV fastpitch programs. E.) The only exceptions to eligibility for 8U, 10U and 12U players are as defined by Tri-County and the ASA of Minnesota and are as follows: 1. If surrounding association directors are in agreement of moving a player from one association to another in order to fill a roster spot and give a player an opportunity to play. 2. Associations may have a situation of having a younger sibling playing on the same team. 3. Associations may need to fill a roster spot within their association and move a player up a level. 4. Associations may need to combine with neighboring associations to field a team. These will not be considered a tryout team. 5. All of these exceptions must be communicated between associations, agreed upon, and approved by Minnesota ASA. Section 2: Registration A.) Participants must register prior to the start of each season during the published dates as established by the EV Fastpitch Board and no later than one week prior to tryouts to allow for team planning. B.) No late registrations will be accepted after tryouts with exception given to new residents moving into the area or as approved by the EV Fastpitch Board. C.) Any person who registers under an assumed name, or gives an incorrect age will become ineligible and will be suspended for the remainder of the current playing year. Section 3: Fees

A.) Program Fees will be established annually and are required to be paid at registration. B.) Fees for community teams cover the costs of participation including but not limited to league fees, tournament and/or entry fees, tryouts, tournaments, umpires, equipment, and field maintenance. Fees will not be used to cover/subsidize travel expenses incurred by teams during regular or postseason play. Additional fees for other events (such as additional tournaments, nationals, and training sessions) may be incurred depending on the situation of each team. C.) Club Fees will be collected separately and maintained in a separate budget from the community teams. Club teams will be responsible for all fees incurred by the club teams including registration, travel, equipment, coach pay (if necessary), league fees and tournament fees. EV Fastpitch will cover cost of field use. D.) No refunds are allowed once the teams have been established (Summer and Fall). Refunds will be made ONLY to players not placed on a team. Special exceptions may be made with approval by the EV Fastpitch Board for players that are either injured or move out of the area prior to or during the softball season. E.) All players in the program are required to purchase their own: Batting helmet with approved face guard and chin strap Fielding glove Bat Cleats Defensive face mask Uniform EV Fastpitch requires pitchers at the 10U level and above to wear facemasks and strongly recommends that all infield players wear masks as well at all levels. Please note some coaches will require masks of all fielders. EV Fastpitch will provide one set of catching gear per team. It is highly recommended that girls wanting to catch provide their own chest protector and shin guards to ensure fit as well as their own helmet/mask to ensure fit for safety and health reasons. F.) A monetary volunteer guarantee per player will be collected per season for families with girls on a Traveling team, including league only teams. Hosting tournaments and hosting our own Lightning

Strike and Under the Lights (UTL) Tournaments are major fundraisers for the organization. Hosting tournaments allows teams to stay closer to home instead of driving to other places in the metro area over the course of 2-3 consecutive days. Hosting tournaments help keep the costs of the program down, allow the program to invest in new equipment, allow the program to invest in higher instruction for the players, and keep tournaments closer to home. Hosting tournaments is not possible without volunteers. The family of each player is required to work a minimum hours/player or family at our tournaments, Fall Hosting league games or other designated volunteer opportunities throughout the summer and fall seasons. All families, including those with coaches or Fastpitch Softball Board Members, must work their required hours. All volunteers must be at least 14 years old. If someone is unable to work their scheduled shift, it is their responsibility to find a replacement. The volunteer fee will be collected at the beginning of the season and must be a separate check. Upon completion of the volunteer requirement, checks will be shredded or returned to you (if specifically requested). All checks from families who do not complete the volunteer requirement will be cashed. The amount of the fee and the number of hours required will be determined prior to registration. G) Financial Aid can be requested from the EVAA Board. Section 4: Age Qualifications A.) Community teams will be established (depending on available players) in each of six (6) age classifications: 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U. Club teams will be established (depending on available players and coaches) in each of three (3) age classifications: 14U, 16U, and 18U B.) The age classifications are: 8 and Under: Players are 8 or younger as of January 1 of current year. Fall age brackets are determined by the player's age as of January 1st of next year. 10 and Under: Players are 10 or younger as of January 1 of current year. Fall age brackets are determined by the player's age as of January 1st of next year. 12 and Under: Players are 12 or younger as of January 1st of current year. Fall age brackets are determined by the player's age as of January 1st of next year.

14 and Under: Players are 14 or younger as of January 1st of current year. Fall age brackets are determined by the player's age as of January 1st of next year. 16 and Under: Players are 16 or younger as of January 1st of current year. Fall age brackets are determined by the player's age as of January 1st of next year. 18 and Under: Players are 18 or younger as of January 1st of current year. Fall age brackets are determined by the player's age as of January 1st of next year. C.) A player of a younger age classification may play in an older age classification if and only if there is a roster spot needed to fill in the EV Fastpitch organization in order to complete a team and other qualifications are met. Tri-County League and North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) rules do not allow a player to "play down" to a younger age group for any reason. Section 5: Placement on Team A.) Every effort is made to place every registrant on a team. B.) Teams shall be made up of at least 10 players but will be no more than 13 players unless approved by the EV Fastpitch Board. C.) Participants in the Spring/Summer season will be placed on a team according to their ability in accordance with appendix E. D.) Participants in the Fall season will be placed on a team according to their ability in accordance with appendix F. E.) Any player whose continued participation is deemed detrimental to the welfare of the association may be removed from the team and/or program for the season upon a majority vote of the EV Fastpitch Board. To remove a player, a written complaint must be presented to the Board. The complaint will be reviewed and investigated by the Officers. If sufficient justification exists, a hearing before the full Board will be held. A vote of two-thirds of all Board members is required for the dismissal of a player. F.) All potential players must participate in the tryout process to be selected for a position on a team. Approved Exceptions (illness/injury) will ONLY be granted if notification is made to the EV Fastpitch Board prior to the scheduled tryout date. Section 6: Requirements A.) Because of the limited number of participants allowed and the evaluation process establishing that number, it is required that every participant and their parents or guardians

commit to the tryouts, practices, games, and tournaments their team will participate in over the course of the season. A significant reason for the commitment asked of traveling players is the likelihood of postseason play, including State and regional (National) tournaments. Please be aware of the team s potential tournament dates when committing to play on a given team, as the absence of players can jeopardize the entire team s opportunity to compete in the most important tournaments of the year. Traveling fastpitch softball requires a significant time commitment from players, coaches and parents throughout the season. Every player is important to her team and is expected to attend all practices, league games, and tournament games. Unexcused absences may result in a reduction of playing time. The EV Fastpitch Board expects softball to take priority over other sports during the season, and absences due to participation in other sports will be considered unexcused. Excused absences will be granted for school, religious and important family events (e.g. graduation, funeral or wedding). If a player determines that she cannot participate in a minimum of 80% of the time for practices, games and post-season play, the player or parent must indicate this limitation on their registration as availability may affect to which team the player is assigned. In addition, participation below the 80% level, except where excused, may adversely affect playing time. B.) It is required that every parent or guardian help support the EV Fastpitch Lightning Strike, State Qualifier and Under the Lights Tournaments by committing to help with concessions, field prep or any other area needed to support EV Fastpitch. The number of required hours per family will be determined prior to registration. C.) Only approved EV Fastpitch uniforms can be worn by the players during official games. Uniforms will be designed and curated by the EV Fastpitch Board. Participants are required to purchase uniforms which include: Approved Jersey Approved Softball pants Socks Belt

Section 7: Coaches A.) A coaches selection committee (appointed by the Director and approved by the board on an annual basis in October) will interview all candidates. Coaches will be selected based on experience, knowledge of the game, past program involvement and positive attitude. Care will be taken to ensure that there is no conflict of interest during the coach's selection for a particular age group. B.) Candidates are ranked by each member of the coaches selection committee. The highest ranked coach is the first team coach, if his/her child makes the top team of the girls trying out. If there isn t a coaching candidate of the top team, the board will decide the best coach for this team. Care will be taken to pick the best coach available where the daughter has the highest chance of success on the first team. The remaining highest ranked coach is the second team coach if his/her child makes the second team of the girls trying out. Coaches for additional teams are based on the coach ranking. C.) All provisional coaches are expected to attend tryouts to familiarize themselves with the players if able. D.) Head Coaches will choose their own assistants and team managers. E.) Head Coaches will be responsible to make sure each team has a team parent to communicate game schedules, changes and weather changes. F.) Any coach whose continued participation is deemed detrimental to the welfare of the association may be removed from the team upon a majority vote of the EV Fastpitch Board. To remove a coach, a written complaint must be presented to the Board. The complaint will be reviewed and investigated by the Officers. If sufficient justification exists, a hearing before the full Board will be held. A vote of two-thirds of all Board members is required for the dismissal of a Coach. G.) If no coach volunteer is available for a given team, the Director and Head of Coaching Committee will appoint/recruit coaches as appropriate. H.) If the Director and Head of Coaching Committee are unsuccessful in appointing/recruiting a head coach, the board will take appropriate actions (disband, pay coach, etc.). ARTICLE V EASTVIEW VALLEY FASTPITCH BOARD OF DIRECTORS Section 1: Purpose

The purpose of the Eastview Valley Girls Traveling Fastpitch Softball Athletic Association Board of Directors (EV Fastpitch Board) is to govern the policies and procedures as established in the by-laws for the Eastview Valley Girls Traveling Fastpitch Softball Athletic Association. Section 2: Composition A.) The EV Fastpitch Board shall consist of seven to up to twenty positions. Each board member shall be responsible for at least one position. Four of these positions will be elected official positions which include: 1) Director 2) Assistant Director 3) Secretary 4) Treasurer Other positions include: 8U and In-House Coordinator 14U/16U Team Coordinator Club Teams Coordinator Coaches Selection Coordinator Concession Coordinator Equipment Coordinator Fall Ball Hosting Coordinator Field/Umpire Coordinator Fundraising Coordinator Player Development and Winter Clinic Coordinator Scholarship Coordinator Tournament Coordinator

Assistant Tournament Coordinator Traveling and Tournament Selection Coordinator Tryout Coordinator Uniform and Logowear Coordinator Webmaster Section 3: Duties Refer to APPENDIX A DUTIES OF EV FASTPITCH BOARD MEMBERS Section 4: Membership Terms Each member of the Board of Directors will serve for two (2) years with elections taking place during the September general monthly meeting. Election to an Elected Officer position will extend membership on the Board for the term of that position. If elected during a meeting other than September, Board Members will serve for the remaining unexpired two year term. Section 5: Eligibility and Background Checks Anyone who demonstrates an interest in promoting EV Fastpitch. Each member who is approved to the Board will submit and undergo a background check. It is the intent of the EV Fastpitch Board to deny any person who has been convicted of a crime of violence, a crime against a person, or crimes involving the possession or sale of illegal substances from serving on the Board. Section 6: Officer Elections A.) The officers of the EV Fastpitch Board shall be a Program Director, Assistant Director, Secretary and Treasurer. B.) Officers shall be elected from the Board membership by a simple majority of the Board. The term of office shall be two (2) years, unless the office was vacant. There will be no term limits. C.) The Board may elect a non-sitting member as an Elected Officer with a two-thirds vote of the Board.

D.) Any vacancy because of death, resignation, removal, disqualification or otherwise shall be filled by the Board for the non-expired portion of the term. E.) All votes for membership on the Board, removal from the Board and for Elected Officers will be a ballot vote. Absentee ballots will be allowed for these votes. Section 7: Vacancies and Voting Rights A.) In the case of vacancy of one of the EV Fastpitch Board positions, candidates for the EV Fastpitch Board positions are nominated and seconded prior to or at the September Board Meeting and elected by a two-thirds vote of the incumbent EV Fastpitch Board during the regular September meeting. B.) All persons interesting in filling a vacant board position will be present at the meeting with the complete EV Fastpitch Board prior to selection and appointment to the Board of Directors to provide their intent on joining the board. C.) Each Board member will have one vote on officer elections, vacant board positions and any other voting issue. Each Board member will become eligible to vote in the meeting immediately following the meeting in which the Board member was elected to the Board. D.) The Program Director as a member of the Board may vote as any other member if the vote is a ballot. Section 8: Removals from the EV Fastpitch Board A.) Any Board Member desiring to resign shall submit their resignation in writing to the Secretary, who shall present it to the Board for action. B.) Any Board member whose continued service is deemed detrimental to the welfare of the association may be removed upon a two-thirds vote of the board. To remove a Board Member, a written complaint must be presented to the Board. The complaint will be reviewed and investigated by the Officers. If sufficient justification exists, a hearing before the full Board will be held. A vote of two-thirds of all Board members is required for the dismissal of a Board Member. C.) Three consecutive absences from scheduled Board Meetings will result in the Board requesting and reviewing the reasons for the absences, which could result in removal from the Board. Section 9: Meetings

A.) The EV Fastpitch Board will meet monthly. A quorum shall consist of at least one half (1/2) of sitting members of the Board. A quorum is needed to conduct any business. Board Meetings shall be held at any time and location designated by the Program Director. Notice of meetings shall be communicated to each member and posted on the Apple Valley/Eastview Softball web sites. All Board Meetings shall be open to the public. B.) An agenda will be established for each meeting. All items to be included on the agenda are to be submitted to the secretary one (1) week prior to the meeting and distributed to board members two (2) days prior to the meeting. The agenda should include a review of the minutes from the previous meeting. C.) All actions carried out by the EV Fastpitch Board will be agreed upon by a majority vote of those present. D.) Special meetings may be called as needed, by the Director of Assistant Director only. The purpose of the meeting shall be stated in the call. A notice of the meeting will be given to each member at least three days before such meetings. A quorum is required to conduct special meetings. E.) The majority of the agenda items are open to the public. If there are any topics that are sensitive in nature, these will be noted on the agenda as closed to the public. However, the outcome of any closed items will be reflected in the minutes, which will be posted on the EV Fastpitch website. Section 10: Committees A.) The Program Director may appoint committees. Members do not need to be a member of the Board to be a part of a committee. Each committee shall have a chairperson to report activities to the Board. B.) The Program Director or Board may establish special committees as required. Actions of the special committees are subject to approval of the Board. Each special committee shall consist of at least three (3) members and be headed by one member designated as the chairperson. A Board member may head no more than two (2) special committees. ARTICLE VI GRIEVANCES Section 1: Grievances The Eastview Valley Athletic Association and EV Fastpitch require the following procedure for addressing program grievances:

The person lodging a complaint is required to first address it with the coach of the team. If a coach or parent is unable to resolve the situation, the coach or parent must notify the Traveling Coordinator. If the Travelling Coordinator is unable to resolve the dispute, he or she will bring the matter before the EV Fastpitch Board. The EV Fastpitch Board is then asked to "rule" on the matter or help resolve the dispute with the Director overseeing. In the event that Board would require additional help to resolve the matter, the Board will refer all factual information to the Governing Parent Board for ruling by a special EVAA Complaint Committee. Any grievances NOT adhering to the above chain of events will automatically be referred back to it. Section 2: Suspensions The EV Fastpitch Board reserves the right to suspend any coach, parent, or player who violates the EV Fastpitch Code of Ethics or Program rules. Suspensions will be documented and communicated to the Fastpitch Softball Board and the Governing Parent Board. Suspension of a coach may lead to progressive discipline. An umpire may eject any player, parent, or coach who acts in an unsportsmanlike manner. All violations must be reported to the Fastpitch Softball Board. Subsequent violations may result in the player, parent, or coach being removed from the program. A player may be removed from a team for the following specific reasons: Disregard of the player s responsibilities, including lack of attendance at practices and/or games. Continued play in such a manner as to endanger others and/or self. Displaying an uncaring attitude and hurting the team s competitiveness and enjoyment of the sport. Failure to work within a team environment (placing self-interest before the teams). Disrespect of coaches, umpires, or fellow players. Repeated unsportsmanlike behavior. Before requesting the removal of a player, the coach must discuss the situation with the Program Director and the player's parent(s) and attempt to correct the situation. The discussion should include

an objective description of the behavior and of the intended discipline. Continued problems may result in progressive discipline up to and including removal. ARTICLE VII END OF SEASON SURVEYS Responsible feedback (both positive and negative) is essential for the continued improvement of sports programs. EV Fastpitch will send an electronic survey to participants after the summer season. Coaches will not be shown the actual surveys, but can be given their "final score" for each category to assist them in setting and maintaining goals consistent with the philosophy of EV Fastpitch. Survey feedback will be communicated in writing from the Director, prior to the following year try-outs. All coaches will receive their feedback, even if they do not volunteer the following year. ARTICLE VIII AMENDMENTS These bylaws may be changed at any regular meeting by a two-thirds vote. The proposed change should be submitted in writing and distributed by the secretary to members for review at least five (5) days before any vote. ARTICLE IX RISK DISCLOSURE All Board Members will comply with the Risk Disclosure Policy as set forth by the EVAA Main Board of Directors. The EVAA Risk Disclosure Policy also applies to coaches, assistant coaches, as well as others as deemed necessary by the EVAA Main Board of Directors or the EV Fastpitch Board. APPENDIX A ----- Officer Positions ---- DIRECTOR Oversees the entire EV Fastpitch program and is responsible for its management. Calls and conducts EV Fastpitch Board meetings. Liaison between EVAA Board of Directors and EV Fastpitch Board.

Organizes sign-ups for Summer and Fall Programs. Coordinate yearly budget for Summer and Fall Leagues. Responsible for reviewing and bidding on state and national tournaments Sign all official documents of the organization Appoint committees as needed Act as overseer of any special committee formed Organizes community teams as requested for fall and dome play ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Liaison between EV Fastpitch and MSF, MMFL, ASA, USSSA and NAFA Assists Director in fulfillment of duties Reviews bylaws yearly and proposes any updates per the outlined process Will perform the duties of the Director in the event of the inability of the Director to act. SECRETARY Prepare, distribute, and maintain meeting agenda, minutes, and other necessary publications Maintains working board members roster with phone numbers and job description Responsible for publication of all EV Fastpitch events with local media Publish newsletter as needed Update bylaws as required and make available to EV Fastpitch community as appropriate Minutes of full board meetings will be recorded and copies maintained by the secretary. Upon completion of duties as Secretary, the Secretary shall deliver all books, papers and reports as appropriate to the new incumbent.

TREASURER Oversees all financial matters of the board. Oversees and balances auxiliary checkbook for petty cash needs. Prepares a yearly budget for EV Fastpitch Director for summer and fall league. Summarizes financial report to board monthly. Liaison with bank regarding all EV Fastpitch accounts and balances. Audit all spending to ensure proper authorization and reporting. ----- Non-Officer Positions ---- 8U AND IN-HOUSE COORDINATOR Responsible for team formation and rules Liaison with Tri-County 14U / 16U COMMUNITY TEAM COORDINATOR [A hired coach for a 14U or 16U team will assume this role. This will be a paid position, with an additional stipend for the administrative work that is needed in order to field teams. The monetary stipend will be reviewed and approved annually in the May Board meeting.] Responsible for team formation and rules Own and run the 14U, 16U and 18U community teams from end to end including coaching one team, coordinating tryouts, heading the coaching committee interviews for additional coaches for additional teams, and working to finalize rosters. Will have sole discretion on tryout policy and procedures for 14U and 16U teams ensuring a fair process for all. May conclude that tryouts are deemed not necessary or can be changed to a scrimmage, or any combination of skills and scrimmage evaluation.

Organizes coaches selection committee and conducts selection interviews and coach selection meetings for Summer and Fall seasons for 14U 16U teams only. This will be for additional coaches for additional teams. Manages the 14U, 16U team selection processes with head coaches and Director, including the potential additional task of partnering with neighboring community teams to help form a team(s). In the absence of a person in the role of the 14U, 16U Community Team Coordinator by the June Board meeting of any year, EV/AV Fastpitch will not field a community team at any of these levels for the next year. An interim person from the Board may take on this role until a coach is found, but the interim person must commit by the end of the June Board meeting. CLUB TEAMS COORDINATOR Responsible in organizing tryouts for Club teams. Works with Coaching Committee Coordinator to select coaches for Club teams. Works with Treasurer to set and maintain separate budgets for each club team. Coordinates with Head coaches for all tournament and league play. COACHES SELECTION COORDINATOR Organizes coaches selection committee and conducts selection interviews and coach selection meetings for Summer and Fall season. Distributes, collects, and summarizes the player/parent evaluations of coaches. Serves as the point of contact for coach related issues and concerns. (Issues / Concerns first attempt to get worked out within the team, then this role would be the next point of contact to investigate the issue.) CONCESSIONS COORDINATOR Select and order all food for concessions.

Organize and pick up food. Order coffee and organize pick up of coffee. Find resturant willing to donate ice. Oversee set up and take down concessions at site. Oversee concessions for the tournament. Keep concessions stocked; communicate to runners when items are log and need to be picked up Communicate money needs with Treasurer. Type up and print menus for the site. EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR Purchases, issues, and collects equipment, uniforms and supplies. Responsible for repair, maintenance, and storage of equipment. Consult coaches on equipment needs and help provide the proper equipment. FALL BALL HOSTING COORDINATOR Organizes fall ball hosting events with volunteers, concessions and field prep. FIELD/UMPIRE COORDINATOR Responsible for scheduling fields for games, practices and scrimmage. Liaison with Director in the event of weather related cancellations. Responsible for scheduling umpires for all summer and fall league games. Liaison with City Parks and Recreation Departments.

FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR Responsible for implementing fundraising opportunities. Responsible for marketing all tournaments. PLAYER DEVELOPMENT/WINTER CLINIC COORDINATOR Responsible to conduct a pre-season coaches clinic. Organizes winter clinic. Contact person for coaches and players throughout the season. Conducts a coach's evaluation of players. SCHOLARSHIP COORDINATOR First Year: Develop our scholarship program. Present budget for scholarships each year for approval. Lead the process for identification of candidates / application. Lead the selection process and submit to Board for approval of selected candidates. Lead the communication around selected candidates and presentation of checks. Request checks from Treasurer. Collaborate with the Eastview Athletic Association Board for review and approval of the proposal TOURNAMENT COORDINATOR Provides volunteer resource requirements

Organizes committees to conduct all tournaments Responsible for management of all tournament operation components Jointly serves as Tournament host ASSISTANT TOURNAMENT COORDINATOR Assists with Tournament Coordinator duties. TRAVELING AND TOURNAMENT SELECTION COORDINATOR Schedules all tournament participation for community teams. TRYOUT COORDINATOR Manages and updates tryout policy and procedures for 10U and 12U teams ensuring a fair process for all. Coordinates all tryouts for 10U and 12U teams. Recruits station leaders and evaluators for 10U and 12U tryout process. Manages the 10U and 12U team selection processes with head coaches and Director. Will assist the 14U/16U Coordinator with the setup and/or running of the 14U/16U tryout process. UNIFORM AND LOGOWEAR COORDINATOR Responsible for selecting vendor to bring to Board for approval. Assists with sign ups to ensure the efficient collection of database information on players and volunteers Maintains EV Fastpitch website Coaches' Responsibilities include: APPENDIX B COACHES INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES Comply with and enforce all EV Fastpitch rules and Fastpitch Softball Program policies and rules, including without limitation, attending online concussion training session. Know all and comply with all league and tournament rules. Adhere to the EVAA drug, alcohol, and tobacco policies. Treat all players in an equitable and fair manner. Demonstrate good sportsmanship, self-control, and proper behavior. Ensure the good sportsmanship and proper behavior of team players, assistant coaches, parents, and spectators. Attend all league meetings and functions. Arrange to have an alternate attend any required functions (e.g., coaches meetings, etc.) that he/she is unable to attend. Assure that all players receive appropriate playing time. Teach the players to have fun and enjoy competition.

Help the players to develop a healthy, competitive attitude toward winning and losing. Assess individual player s strengths and weaknesses and create a developmental plan to help each player improve in the areas of concern. Encourage and compliment players; use only constructive criticism. Care for the equipment that is issued to them. If any equipment is lost or damaged, coaches should report the problem to the Equipment Coordinator. Return all issued equipment in good, clean condition. Attend any coaches clinic arranged by the Fastpitch Softball Board. Conduct a pre-season parents' meeting. At this meeting, the coach should set the tone and expectations for the season, distribute team schedule, roster, team rules, and collect any additional fees that are due. Conduct a mid-season player meeting, including evaluations of each player. Participate in team photographs. Schedule field time for practices and any make-up (home) games with the other coaches. Report any problems with fields to the EV Fastpitch Board. Recruit parent volunteers, team manager, communication coordinator, and social director as necessary. Attend the post-season Exit Interview At this meeting, they will review their season and provide suggestions for improving the program in future years. Complete Player Profiles and return to the Fastpitch Softball Program Director. Coaches' Rights include: To be treated with respect by players, parents, volunteers, umpires, league, MSF and AAU officials, the EV Fastpitch Softball Board, and the EV Fastpitch Board of Directors.

To be made fully aware of the rules and policies under which they must function. To have access to necessary safety equipment and practice fields. To expect full cooperation from parents when they are asked to assist. APPENDIX C PARENT INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES Parents of EV Fastpitch are subject to all guidelines set forth by the EV Fastpitch Code of Conduct. Additionally, EV Fastpitch asks all traveling program parents and players to respect the competitive environment of traveling softball by adhering to the following two rules: 1. During all games, parents are asked to respect the bench area as the coaches and players domain. Unless there is an emergency, parents should never enter the bench area without permission from one of the team coaches. 2. During all games, players are asked NOT to leave the bench area to visit with friends or family. In the event of a special circumstance or emergency, make the coach aware of the situation first. Your child's participation in the EV Fastpitch program will require a significant contribution of your time and effort. Parents can contribute many things to support their child, team, and the program. Parents' Responsibilities include: Let your child know you love her, win or lose, whether she plays well or not. Compliment and encourage. Let the coaches handle coaching and criticism. Coordinate your efforts to help your child's development with the recommendations of the coaches. Support your coaches. Remember that they are responsible for many children in addition to yours. Don't compare your child to other players. Be honest with yourself and your child about her abilities. Treat each player on the team as you would your own.

Keep negative comments to yourself. Express concerns only to the coach and in a straightforward, fair, and objective manner. Teach your child to have fun and enjoy competition. Don't tell her that winning does not count because it does, and she knows it. Instead, help her to develop a healthy competitive attitude toward winning and losing. Follow the "Parents' Code of Conduct" supported and distributed by EV Fastpitch Softball. Demonstrate good sportsmanship and proper behavior. Don't criticize officials, coaches, or other parents or players. Ensure the good sportsmanship and proper behavior of your child and your guests. Get your child to, and pick them up from, practices and games on time. Inform the coach in advance whenever your child will miss or be late for a practice or a game. Provide a copy of your child's birth certificate to the head coach at the first parent/coach pre-season meeting. Volunteer your time and talents to ensure your team's practices, games and tournaments are successful. Complete the Post Season Parent Survey. Feedback is important for the continual improvement of the program. Parents' Rights include: Have yourself and your child be treated fairly and with respect. Have your child practice and play in a safe and healthy environment. Have your child coached by effective and qualified adult leadership. Have your child engage in practice and playing activities that increase her skills and enjoyment of the sport. To be fully informed by the coaches with respect to schedules, team philosophies, team rules, and your child's strengths and weaknesses.

Have access to timely/appropriate information and/or mediation, with disputes handled by the Board should you be unable to resolve them with a coach. PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT As a parent/guardian of a child involved in an EV Fastpitch program, I/we agree to abide by and follow the rules and guidelines listed below: I/we will respect the property and equipment used at any sports facility, both home and away. I/we will encourage good sportsmanship through my/our actions, by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game or practice. I/we will promote the emotional and physical well being of the athletes ahead of any personal desire to win. I/we will provide support for coaches and officials working with the athletes to provide a positive experience for all. I/we will demand a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free environment for my child, and agree to assist by refraining from their use at all EV Fastpitch events, home or away. I/we will remember the game is for the athletes and not for the parents. I/we will demand that my/our child treat other players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability. I/we will treat all players, coaches, and officials with dignity and respect in language, attitude, behavior, and mannerisms. I/we will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others. I/we will inform the coach, within a reasonable period of time, of any anticipated absence from a game or practice my child might incur due to sickness, injury, vacation, or any other reason. I/we also agree that if I/we fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I/we may be subject to disciplinary action. Written Warning Parental Game Suspension Parental Season Suspension Parental Banishment These actions may not be necessarily taken in an escalated manner, and EV Fastpitch reserves the right to select and apply any penalty depending upon the situation. APPENDIX D PLAYER INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES Players on a traveling team should take pride in herself, her team, and in her community. She must follow the directions of the coaches, and must be willing to accept constructive criticism. Players' Responsibilities include: Have pride and confidence in yourself, your teammates, and your coaches. Be attentive and work hard in practice and games. Make your best efforts to perform the tasks as directed by the coaches. Be a competitor, perform up to your full ability, and contribute to team unity. Compliment teammates and let the coaches handle criticism. Show respect toward your coaches, teammates, and parents. Show respect toward opposing players, coaches, umpires, and spectators. Keep your (personal and team) equipment clean and in good repair. Maintain a responsible attitude toward your health. Be aware of, and adhere to, the EVAA policies on drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.

Remember that softball is a game and keep it in perspective with family, school, and/or church activities and responsibilities. Demonstrate good sportsmanship and proper behavior. Remind your parents that you need to be at practices and games on time. Inform the coach whenever you will miss or be late for a practice or a game. Remember to bring all your equipment and water bottle to all games and practices. Pick up your trash and dispose of it in trash containers after each game or practice. Players' Rights include: To participate at a level that matches your maturity and ability. To play as a child, not as an adult. To participate in a safe, healthy environment. To be treated fairly, with dignity, and with respect. To have fun in sports. To have an equal opportunity to develop your abilities and strive for success. To have good coaching; to be taught the fundamentals and strong character development. APPENDIX E TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA FOR SPRING/SUMMER The EV Fastpitch Board, using independent evaluators and coaches, will conduct tryouts. The EV Fastpitch Board, tryout coordinator and the independent evaluators will determine evaluation criteria for tryouts. Players' skills will be rated and ranked. Pitchers and catchers will have additional skill sets evaluated. A scrimmage may be held at an alternative date to assist in the evaluation process. Tryouts will be held during the spring for 10U and 12U and fall for 14U 16U 18U and all Club teams at facilities all as determined by the EV Fastpitch Board.

The evaluators are known to possess the knowledge necessary to evaluate a player's skill at a particular level. Outside evaluators are not related to any of the tryout participants they evaluate and are not paid by any of the tryout participants for lessons outside of the EV Fastpitch association or have any such conflict of interest. The Provisional Coaches for each age group will also participate in the evaluation process. The Provisional Coaches are selected by the Coach Selection Committee. Scores will be the primary basis used to select the players for each traveling team. While skills tryouts are a fundamental part of the player evaluation process, we also recognize that effective players must have additional attributes that are not assessed during a one hour tryout conducted indoors and without live pitching or game conditions. Accordingly, the following are taken into consideration: 1. Tryout ranking. 2. Participation and performance demonstrated in clinics and winter workouts and previous seasons. 3. Experience, attitude, and willingness to be coached. For teams formed in a ranked fashion the team selection process will ensure that each team consists of the top six girls of any position with the highest scores automatically assigned to the first team. The first team coach will then fill the roster with remaining players based on positional needs, which may include pitchers and/or catchers using the pitching/catching tryout results as a guide, and may also include: a standout player who was unable to attend tryouts a specific team gap (need for a big hitter, gap at a key position like first base) a high performing player for which the tryout score does not represent the skill level displayed at clinics and workouts If a coach selects a player whose score was lower than another player who is not selected, the coach must have this approved by the tryout coordinator and Director citing a softball reason for the move. If a coach selects a pitcher and/or catcher to fill the roster, the coach/director/coordinator will reach out to the parents and the parents and player will have the option to remain on the team or opt to drop down to the next team where more pitching and/or catching is more likely.

Once the first team is filled, the second team coach (and third if applicable) will fill his/her team in the same manner with players not already selected. Team selection requires final approval of the Program Director. At the 10U level, the EV Fastpitch Board shall reserve the right to establish equal or balanced teams. For teams formed in a balanced fashion, players will be divided among teams fairly, using tryout results as the major criterion for selection. All players registering for traveling softball who are unable to make tryouts due to conflicts or injuries must notify the EV Fastpitch Board before tryouts and gain an approval from the Board. Players that do not tryout on the designated tryout dates cannot be considered for inclusion in the top six players at any level. They may be considered for selection by the coach on any team. For Club teams, the players will be chosen by the coach. Playing Level Descriptions: Club teams and Top Teams at 18U, 16U, 14U and 12U Levels Playing time is unlikely to be equal for all players. Teams will most likely be playing at the A level. Playing time will be earned on skill level, attitude, commitment, and game situations. Player positions will usually be assigned to compete at the team s highest level. Generally only the top 2-3 pitchers/catchers will pitch/catch during the season. Players are expected to prioritize fastpitch over other activities/sports. Extra time spent on skill development outside of practice is strongly encouraged. Weekend tournament commitment is up to 6-7 weekends. Second and Third teams at the 18U, 16U, 14U, and 12U Levels Playing time is unlikely to be equal for all players Teams will most likely be playing at the B1, B2 or C levels. Playing time will be earned on skill level, attitude, commitment, and game situations

Weekend tournament commitment is up to 4-5 weekends The 8U and 10U level is a developmental level and all players are encouraged to try as many positions as they would like, however playing time will be determined by performance in practice and league games and no player shall be put in a position at the detriment to the rest of the team. For example, a girl wishing to pitch should be able to get a pitch over the plate for a strike. The 8U and 10U League Only level teams will be formed as we receive registrations. Best efforts for friendship and carpool will be made. Top Teams at the 10U level Playing time is unlikely to be equal for all players Teams will most likely be playing at the A or B1 level. Playing time will be earned on skill level, attitude, commitment, and game situations Player positions will usually be assigned to compete at the team s highest level, typically with players trying to develop at multiple positions. Generally only the top 2-4 pitchers will pitch during the season Extra time spent on skill development outside of practice is strongly encouraged especially for pitchers and catchers. Weekend tournament commitment is up to 4-5 weekends Second and Third teams at the 10U level Playing time is unlikely to be equal for all players Teams will most likely be playing at the B1, B2 or C levels.

However, over the course of the season each participant will get a fair and ample amount of playing time. Each coach is responsible for assuring this happens. APPENDIX F TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA FOR FALL BALL Fall traveling softball is a short season league sponsored by Minnesota Metro Fastpitch League (MMFL). As with the summer traveling program, this is a competitive level of play. However, winning is not the primary focus of fall traveling softball. Winning at the expense of specific individuals is not allowed. The primary emphasis of fall traveling softball will be individual skill development, position development, pitching development, teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship and respect for others. Recognizing that individuals will have different skill levels and needs, the program will seek to maximize the potential of every player. Each participant will be treated fairly and know that they are an important part of the team and that their contribution is valued. FALL BALL GENERAL INFORMATION Fall traveling softball Participation is OPEN to players from Summer Traveling and upper age group In-house. Players must be interested in competing at a higher level than In-house. Fall traveling participants are asked to attend all practices, league games and tournaments. Depending on numbers, EV Fastpitch will make every attempt to offer a fall traveling program for 10 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under, 16 & under and 18 & under. The program that you will participate

is determined by your age as of January 1 of the next year. The team (age level) for which a player is eligible is the same as the player's age on the above date. Team Selection If one team can be formed at a particular age level, no tryouts will take place. The Director and the Traveling Coordinator will determine the number of players on teams. If there are enough players, two teams may be formed at a particular age level, consisting of an "A" and a "B" team. The teams will be selected by the Director, Traveling Coordinator and the EV Fastpitch Tryout Coordinator. The EV Fastpitch Coaching Committee will select the best available, qualified coach per team. Input may be considered from previous coaches from Traveling and Inhouse programs. If there are not enough players for two full teams (at any age level), but too many for one full team, the less-skilled players (as determined by the coach from practices) will be encouraged to participate in practices. Playing time may be limited to as little as one game. The sign-up fees will be refunded to any player who is not on the final roster submitted to MMFL, or is not asked to participate in at least 3 league games. All attempts will be made to accommodate those interested in the fall program without cuts.
