STRASBOURG - 23rd March Trainer of the day : Guillaume Macaire (101, 306, 501, 503) Jockey of the day : Clément Lecœuvre (203, 413, 704, 806) Horse of the day : Semisens (501) Dark Horse : Zalayouni (806) Race 2 1. BETTER ON SUNDAY - Winner over 1900m three starts back but struggled off a higher rating last two times 2. INCORRUPTIBLE - Poor recent efforts on the sand at Chantilly but should be better on the turf 3. EZPELETAKO - Has won eight times from sixty six and must have at least each way chance today 4. RACE FOR FAME - Won in Germany and a Class G handicap here last year. Not ruled out back on the turf 5. KHARKOV - Made it win number two in a Class E handicap at Cagnes last month and has a shout again today 6. SILVER TOP - Poor run in a handicap at Lyon La Soie in December and still a maiden after twenty two starts 7. COUP FATALE - One win from eleven career runs but form is not progressing so that is a worry 8. BESLON - Well beaten on all four of his handicap starts and has a lot to prove here 9. KLONDIKER - Not at his best in his last four starts but was in decent form before that 10. BECQUAGEMME - Won a handicap off a higher mark about a year ago but down the field in all eight starts since then 11. ZING - Erratic horse who has won one race from thirty five but a fair fourth in a handicap at Nantes this month 12. ADONA - Just the two wins from thirty two runs and unplaced in all four starts this year
(3) EZPELETAKO finished fourth behind Piwi Chop in a Class E handicap at Compiegne over 1600m last Monday. The versatile gelding will be suited by the ground here today and can record his ninth career success. (11) ZING ran a decent race at Nantes earlier this month and cannot be ruled out. (10) BECQUAGEMME and (12) ADONA can make the frame. (3) EZPELETAKO - (11) ZING - (10) BECQUAGEMME - (12) ADONA
Race 4 1. STYLE DE NUIT - Has done nothing of note in six career starts to date and is best to pass over 2. TREBLED SKY - Last of twelve on his debut at Chantilly last month and others preferred today 3. JIMMU - Fourth behind Mount Pellion on his debut at Chantilly last November. Leading player 4. MAKENZO - A good second at Lyon La Soie in January but disappointed three times at Cagnes since then 5. KOSTY RIVER - Never a factor in any of his three starts to date. Hard to recommend here 6. JARNISY - Well beaten sixth in a claimer here last November. Has a bit to find today 7. RAPID ROSIE - Well beaten in all nine of her career starts to date. Likely to struggle 8. GALLINA DU MOULIN - Never a factor in five career starts including a Class 2 race here last time out in October 9. POWERFUL - Nothing much from five career outings and has to be overlooked here again today 10. TEMPELLEBEN - Well beaten last of fourteen on her debut at Maisons-Laffitte last October 11. MONSIEUR CROCO - By Croco Rouge and is the third foal to run out of a dam that has yet to produce a winner 12. AMATRICE - By Matrix and is the third foal to run out of a dam that has yet to produce a winner 13. TANGO WHISKEY - By Cockney Rebel and is the fifth foal to run out of a dam that has produced two winners In what looks a fairly average maiden (3) JIMMU has a good opportunity to open his account after a promising debut when fourth to Mount Pellion on the sand at Chantilly last November. If acting on the ground he looks the one to beat. Newcomers (13) TANGO WHISKEY and (11) MONSIEUR CROCO could be the main dangers to the selection. (4) MAKENZO is next best. (3) JIMMU - (13) TANGO WHISKEY - (11) MONSIEUR CROCO - (4) MAKENZO
Race 6 1. ALHORIZON - She has been victorious five times and eventually showed some form last time out 2. ORGARCON - One win from nine runs which came in a claimer here last September. More to do 3. ON THE ROX - Placed in five of his nine runs but needs to rock it up a bit today to break duck 4. BLUES MUSIC - Made it win number two from eighteen at Hyeres this month and that bodes well 5. VALDELINO - Still a maiden after a dozen runs but has put up two good third place finishes this year 6. A HEAD AHEAD - A dual winner from nineteen but the last couple of runs are slightly off putting 7. CAROLINE PIANO - One victory from fourteen but last few runs of last season were not so hot 8. POUDREUSE - Still a maiden after twenty one but has put up a few decent efforts this year 9. MAKAT POKER - A dual winner from twenty six and has a shout if putting best foot forward 10. FAMOUS CHOP - One success from twenty three and may need to drop even more in the ratings 11. FAMILY MONEY - Made it lucky number twelve last time out at Compiegne when winning so could double up 12. PANOS - One win from nine runs last season and maybe best avoided here on return 13. SALMONELLE - This sixteen times raced maiden ran much better when third at Saint-Cloud last time When an animal gets it's head in front for the first time like (11) FAMILY MONEY did at Compiegne it can open up all sorts of possibilities as confidence is such a huge thing in a thoroughbred. The gelding can follow up here. (4) BLUES MUSIC should be on the premises also after a recent victory at Hyeres. (1) ALHORIZON and (5) VALDELINO can be played each way. (11) FAMILY MONEY - (4) BLUES MUSIC - (1) ALHORIZON - (5) VALDELINO
Race 7 1. MONFRERE - Thrice a scorer from twenty one but form in two runs this term is not up to par 2. ILLYRIO - A dual winner from eighteen runs but has been off since July of last year 3. ROUGE DESIR - Missed all of 2015/2016 and had only three runs last year. Surely best watched 4. SHY MOON - Three time winner from thirty four including a claimer at Pornichet this year 5. SIMANO - A tripe winner from thirty seven but is going through a lean patch for a while 6. PER PERDES - Placed in four of ten starts and might not be the worst outsider of these here 7. POWERMAN - Has won half a dozen times from fifty but the handicapper is slow to relent 8. BELAMARY - Thrice a scorer from thirteen and runner up in his last two this month so in form 9. TEMPLE BAR - Nine time winner from sixty seven but on a long losing sequence now so avoided The reasons for siding with (8) BELAMARY here for this handicap are straightforward enough. The five year old gelding was second in his previous two starts and the last of those in a Compiegne claimer was hot enough. He is also in form which is than can be said of chief rival (1) MONFRERE. (5) SIMANO and (4) SHY MOON look next best. (8) BELAMARY - (1) MONFRERE - (5) SIMANO - (4) SHY MOON
Race 8 1. I SEE YOU - Just the two wins from forty eight but has run some other good races. Each way 2. WINTER MAGIC - Two wins from thirty two but has been away for nearly ten months at this point 3. DAMIRO - Four time winner from forty nine but three runs this year have been poor 4. AMERICAN SUN - A dual winner from thirty seven but has not started this season well at all 5. BLUEGRASS - Only one victory from forty but has been placed several times otherwise 6. ZALAYOUNI - Half a dozen wins from forty including last time out at Toulouse so every chance here 7. DE BON MATIN - A seven time winner from eighty eight but missed all of last season and two poor runs this year 8. FLORA - Nice dual winner from thirty nine but off for a year until recent return A few of these runners have had their troubles in one way or another but one that seems to be spot on ready is (6) ZALAYOUNI who has made a great start to the year culminating in a very nice victory at Toulouse earlier this month. He looks superior to (3) DAMIRO who in turn has it over both (8) FLORA and (1) I SEE YOU. Punters can go home on a happy note. (6) ZALAYOUNI - (3) DAMIRO - (8) FLORA - (1) I SEE YOU
