Call the Extension Office, between June 19-23 from 8am to 1pm, to schedule your concession work time. (Voicemails left before 8am, June 19 will not be accepted.) Regular shifts will be 3 hours, Rodeo shifts on Friday & Saturday will be 1 hour. Each member who does not work their shift will be charged $75 in addition to the regular $20 registration fee for enrollment the following 4-H year. If you don t work the fee can be taken out of your sale checks or premiums. All 4-H families are asked to bring drinks for the concession stand to help make the concession stands more profitable. The July Newsletter will list the drink you are asked to bring. The Bent County Fair concession stand is the primary fundraiser for the 4- H program, and subsidizes the cost of 4-H membership. Bent County Fair Books Fair books are printed and will be handed out at club meetings. The most important thing you can do to be ready for fair is read the rules and guidelines in the fair book. Extension Office Hours As stated in last month s newsletter, Trinity Montoya is in the office from 8am to 1pm daily. If you need immediate assistance after hours, you can reach her at (719) 241-4509, otherwise call the office & leave a voicemail, send an email or you can always leave paperwork in the locked mailbox by the north door. We do not receive our mail there; the box is for people to leave things when we are closed. 4-H Council The next 4-H Council meeting will be Tuesday, July 6 at the Park in McClave at 7pm. We ll meet at the Methodist Church as a back-up if there is inclement weather. Bring your family and a dish for a potluck or finger foods before the meeting. Fair Entries Online This Year Enter the Bent County Fair online at: http://bent-county.fairentry.com Entries will open June 20 and must be completed by July 10. Enter all projects you will bring to the fair, including livestock and general and consumer science projects online. Remember to enter all projects; these entries will be used to assign pens, determine breeding animal classes, and assign interview times. Fashion Revue Workshop for 4-H Models Sally Cope will lead a Fashion Revue Workshop at the Bent County Community Center on July 10 at 9:30am. All Southeast 4-H Members are invited.

The calves must be orphans which are bottle or bucket fed, and born between March 1 and June 15. The calves will be shown July 28 at 5:30 pm., before the beef show. These calves are not eligible for the Junior Livestock Sale. This is an open class event; 4-H membership is not required. Entries are due July 10. Contact Lori Chase (719-688-9841) or the Extension Office (456-0764) for more information. Tiny Tot Open Class shows will also be held for sheep and goats prior to their species show. Pre-entries for these species are not required. Again, tiny tot shows are open class, 4-H membership is not required. Corrections & Updates In the May 2017 Newsletter, Corbin Jagers & Joseph Hawkins Market Goats both had tags listed as #25, however Corbin s is actually #26. Tayton Coulter also had to replace a tag. What was tag #86 is now #448. If you could please look over the tagging information, in the May Newsletter all errors, if any, need to be corrected by June 18th.
