Eden Lions - We Serve
Eden Lions - We Serve Off to University Even with the odds stacked against her, Alfrieda is off to university next year. She was raised by the staff and lived for 7 years in the Rosemoor childrens home and through her academic achievements she attended Outeniqua High School from which she is expecting a distinctions in her final results. She is now accepted and on her way to University.. LADS and Eden Lions Club accepted the request from the New Baby Outreach Members of the Eden Lions Club as well as supporters have had a busy month with assisting young Moms with new-born babies. In so many cases these Moms are mere children themselves and bring a baby into the world with absolutely nothing for the baby and little support from family. LADS put together and sent out about packs consisting of baby clothing, nappies, toiletries, toys and in most cases one or two items of equipment ranging from baths, chairs, prams, cots, etc. George Business Chamber and managed to put together everything she would need in her new dorm room as well as being able to dress her to suite her new life. LADS and Eden Lions bring Christmas Cheer Over the last month, members of the Eden Lions have been involved in a number of Christmas Projects, which included Christmas parties at Crèches, individuals who went through some or other crisis, or just children from the poorer communities. Approximately 180 children received a package which included a few items of clothing, shoes and a toy or treat. Thanks to some business sponsorship as well as the LADS Store assistant who searched through piles and piles to find the right sizes and gifts.
Eden Lions - We Serve Eden Lions assist with house Makeover Lions were very proud to be able to play a role in the home makeover for the 101 year old resident of Blanco and her 74 year old paraplegic son. The project was supported by a wide spectrum of businesses in the area through the George Business Chamber. With items donated from the LADS store as well as sponsorships from the public, the little 2 bedroom house was completely furnished and equipped. The project and Eden Lions achieved media coverage which included Television news exposure. Knysna Lions - We Serve Knysna Lions have an annual Peace Poster competition with the schools entering posters. The winning poster from each school is then forwarded to the District Peace Poster Competition. Lion Marlene Sher handed out prizes to the three schools in Knysna. The photo (right) was in the Knysna Herald, placed by Knysna Primary.
Uitenhage Lions Club We Serve Noddy and friends visit the UD Community This year Noddy in the company of Spiderman, Batman, Minion, Ninja Turtle, Giant Bunny, and his friends Shrek and Spongebob entertained the approximately 250 parents, children and family members with their regular visit to the local Community The Uitenhage Lions Club wishes to thank all those who attended including Club members, lady Lionesses and Leo members for their participation in making Noddy s visit a fun filled success, said Lion President Hein de Vrey.
Uitenhage Lioness Club We Serve Uitenhage Lioness Club Project in aid of the homeless and to those in need Vistarus Mission Station is a family run organization dedicated to getting the homeless and troubled people off the streets. On average they house about 400 people including 80 children at any given time. The Uitenhage Lioness Club Branch contributed to the Mission celebrating its 18 year of service to the Eastern Cape with donations of clothing, toiletries, sweets and also providing 67 residents with haircuts at no charge. Kouga Lions - We Serve The Bingo players were treated to a finger supper by the Kouga Lions in between the games they enjoyed the snacks, fruit juice, tea and pudding. They each received a 1/4 of a Lions Christmas Cake as a gift.
Sedgefield Lions - We Serve Well Done Lions Shelley and Bonita receive the President s award for excellent work with the Leo's Thanks A small team of marshals assisted at the water table at the Wilderness 10 km fun run. Sedgefield Lions attended the official handover of the Lions 410D house in Elandskraal. Left : It was a very special kind of "proudness" that us Lions felt at the official handover of the Lions 410D house for a fire victim in Elandskraal. His new little spanking new home was built in and amongst the burnt out ruins of his old family home. Above Right: A word of CONGRATULATIONS to Lion Mario Ferreira and his team at ReBuild Eden for their endless work in making the lives of the fire victims that little more bearable. Trying times for all. A very proud moment when DG Tilly cut the ribbon.
Sedgefield Lions Christmas Fellowship Lovely fellowship and year end function held at the home of Lion Jurgens and Karen van der Walt, with even George Lions Andy and Juanita and son Eric who once again did an outstanding lamb on the spit.
Swellendam Lions Christmas Fellowship Swellendam se Lions het hulle jaar afgesluit met n heerlike gesellige aand by Stormsvlei Restaurant Saterdagaand 2 Desember. President Eduard Koch (bo regs) se boodskap aan sy span en die gemeenskap: Lions is so dankbaar om êrens in iemand se lewe n verskil te kon maak, al is dit hoe klein. As president bedank ek my span wat alles met oorgawe doen, en wens vir elkeen n geseënde feestyd toe van ONTHOUE, HOOP en LIEFDE en dat 2018 net nog meer dankbaarheid en seën bring! Lions VREDE! Lions Swellendam was betrokke by die plaasskool Kleinfontein se Santa Shoebox projek wat plaasgevind het op Vrydag 1 Desember. Ons het al die eetgoedjies voorsien vir 37 kindertjies en die dankbaarheid en opgewondenheid geniet saam met hulle. Wat n voorreg om deel te kon Santa Shoebox projek wees van hierdie projek. Liondames het hulle harte oopgemaak en bygedra tot die geskenkies/ boksies wat elke kind ontvang het. Die Kersvader (Lion Phillip Bromley) het dit meer geniet as die kindertjies... soos die spreekwoord sê Gedeelte
Swellendam Lions - We Serve Lions Swellendam het Saterdag 18 November in hulle plaaslike SwellenMark Mall mense genader en gratis toetse gedoen vir die DIABETES BEWUSMA- KINGSDAG. Suster Maureen Aucamp van die hospitaal het 87 persone getoets en gekonsulteer. Ons het in SwellenMark die spasie gebruik en persone voorgekeer en sommer oortuig dat dit belangrik is om die toetse te doen op n meer gereelde basis. CAP Swellendam het vir die heerlike suikervrye dadeltruffels geskenk vir die eerste 50 persone wat getoets is. Op die foto s is van die persone wat getoets is en Lions wat deel was van die dag se verrigtinge en geskenkies wat uitgedeel was. Lion Engela de Kock oorhandig n geskenkie aan suster Maureen vir haar tyd, opoffering en omgee vir die gesondheid van die Swellendam gemeenskap.
Port Alfred Lions - We Serve Shoebox project. Loaves and fishes assist needy families in the community. They then ask us and other people to make up shoeboxes for a gift for children in need family. Box must have toy, toiletries, stationary, clothes, sweets. Hospice Photo left of LP Norman Elliott and Lion Mike Newlands assisting Sunshine Coast Hospice with their Tree of Lights fund raiser. This follows the final Christmas cakes sale when the last of the 60 cases ordered having been sold last Thursday. Lion Simon Eder and wife, from overseas... visiting Port Alfred and joining a project. The other 3 teams each received a Christmas cake to share. The morning ended off with tea, coffee and Lions Christmas Cake. Thanks Lion Mike and fellow Lions.
Port Alfred Lions - We Serve A year end Christmas fish braai for the elderly folk at Sunset Park. Fish, chips, salad, bread, ice cream and cones supplied by the club. All lions who attended worked really hard. (pictures below of hard working Lions.)
