Sterling Hills Golf Club OFFICERS PRESIDENT & HANDICAP CHAIRMAN Art Roberts 805-983-4626 rtdroberts@roadrunner.com TREASURER & MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN Bob Thren 805-388-2184 rcthren1@verizon.net TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN Mike Hewitt 805-482-1342 pj3mhewitt@verizon.net A MESSAGE FROM ART ROBERTS You all have either read, heard of or seen the movie The Fifty Shades of Grey, but I m not so sure that you have heard of the Irish song Forty Shades of Green. I personally favor green over grey since it reminds us of this time of year as golf courses get needed rain and they respond with the fresh scent of rich grasses to give us nice lies. With the gift of nature and the work of the maintenance staff, Sterling Hills Golf Course has turned the corner to be reborn as the course we all loved to play. I m sure that s why our numbers at first dropped and then have begun to pick up as the word spreads. We now have come back to more than 90 members. While Monday play seems to hover around 20-26 players, there is room for more. For those of you who have not been out on Monday, we welcome you to join our weekly tournaments and certainly the monthly events. As most of you know our Senior Club has replaced the regular club and is the club of record, so we recently revised our by-laws to reflect that and to amend a few items such as the requirement to play in at least two monthly tournaments or the current match play in order to qualify for the SCGA Four Ball Qualifier or Club Championships. A copy of these by-laws has been posted on the club bulletin board in the men s room. Further as to the business at hand and transparency, we have included in this newsletter an accounting of our financial condition. Our annual fees are among the lowest in the county and we work hard to keep them there in spite of recent rate increases by SCGA. A look at the calendar tells us spring is just around the corner and Daylight Savings Time begins on March 8th, giving us a few more hours of light to shine on those Forty Shades of Green. Golf---Life s other sadistic pleasure! Fairways and Greens, my friends, enjoy!
