Coincidently, all three of Burt s assists this season have come on the power play WILL THIS BE THE YEAR FOR BURT? Katie Burt is Hockey East s back-to-back 2015 and 2016 Goaltending Champion and has already started setting some of the conference s career records, but she has yet to be voted to the conference s All-Star First Team in either of her collegiate seasons She was a Hockey East All-Star second-team honoree as a freshman and honorable mention last year She is now 51-4-4 in league play with a career GAA of 1.17 with a.942 save percentage and a league-record 20 conference shutouts Burt s 51 conference wins are just two one of the league s record of 52, held by Melissa Bourdon, UNH 07 She has backed Hockey East s top defense the last three years and led the conference in GAA, wins and shutouts in all three of her collegiate seasons SOMMERFIELD STEPS IN Sophomore Serena Sommerfield came to BC from Choate Rosemary Hall as a defenseman in 2015-16, but played forward all 28 games in which she dressed as a freshman However, this season as a sophomore, she shifted back to the blue line and has turned into one of the Eagles most consistent players Injuries and suspensions ravaged the BC backline the second half of the semester, at one point bringing the Eagles to just two D-men who dressed in the season opener Sommerfield has paired with Megan Keller for much of second semester - and even picked up penalty-kill time - and been a reliable contributor in the back As a freshman, she didn t record a single point and had a -1 plus-minus rating... however, this season Sommerfield has recorded five points (1-4-5) and is a +7 - which is the third-best mark among defensemen who ve played the whole season AND THEN THERE WAS ONE...
