Race 1 Goulburn Murray Credit Union maiden plate - 1000 metres: After leaving the mounting yard prior to the start of the race Ms N McLean, rider of La Nouveau Riche, then realised that she was not wearing her safety vest. Ms McLean returned to the mounting yard, dismounted La Nouveau and applied for her vest before proceeding to the start. Stewards inquired into the matter and Ms McLean explained that after weighing out early with her vest on she then removed her vest in the female jockey s room but however failed to reapply her vest before mounting up for the race. Upon arrival at the barriers Sue Sue Suelaymon which had blood in one nostril was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who deemed the filly unfit start. Acting on this advice, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Sue Sue Suelaymon at 12.13pm. Mr D Whitford representing Mr A Noblet trainer of Sue Sue Suelaymon explained that the filly had been a little restless in the float enroute to the course and it was a possibility that Sue Sue Suelaymon may have struck its nose as a result. Mr Whitford further explained that after arrival on course and prior to the race the filly had shown no ill effects and to him appeared in a normal manner. Subsequent to the completion of the race a swab sample was taken from Sue Sue Suelaymon. In arriving at this decision Stewards were of the opinion that J Todd s actions did not alter the result of the race. At the start Gold Viper had to be checked severely when tightened for room between Indexes and Tailorman (NZ) both of which shifted ground. In the early and middle stages Hot Shoe Shuffln (NZ) overraced. Near the 200m Our Inheritance shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with Tailorman (NZ). Approaching the 100m Our Inheritance ( J Childs) again shifted resulting in Tailorman (NZ) having to be steadied to avoid that gelding s heels. J Childs was notified to exercise greater care when in similar circumstances. Ryan Maloney rider of Indexes pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1500m when not sufficiently clear of Tailorman (NZ) which resulted in that gelding being taken in and tightening Mild Mannered in onto Fantastic Porscha which in turn was tightened in onto Our Inheritance.
