DESCRIPTION - MAXISIL A CERAMIC For swimming pool and underwater applications: Is a high-performance one- component silicone sealant Is based on an neutral cross linking system Vulcanizes at room temperature (RTV) FIELDS OF APPLICATION - EXAMPLES Maxisil P is designed for: A wide variety of underwater applications Swimming pools Water fountains Other water features A wide variety of applications subject to high humidity Sides / walking areas of swimming pools Public shower and changing rooms, e.g. in a gymnasium Interior/exterior use Please note: Do not use Maxisil P for food drinking water applications and the production of aquaria Roberts Designs covers these specific applications with special products. ADVANTAGES Especially designed for underwater applications in contrast to conventional sealants, Maxisil P Pool shows an extreme resistance to mould formation and exhibits and excellent adhesion to substrates with permanent water/ wet stress Good resistance to disinfectant cleaners containing chlorine or ozone Equipped with fungicides Ready- to- use Excellent ability to withstand, resistant to ageing, UV-radiation and chemicals and temperature resistance Very fast curing High tensile strength and high shore A hardness ensure a high notched impact value (suitable for medium expansion joints in the flooring sector) Contains no solvents, such as formaldehyde, CFC, PCB, PCP 1. TECHNICAL DATA Viscosity Density at 23 0C, 50 % RH Non-sag and pasty ~ 1.05 g/cm3 Shore-A-hardness ~ 24 Temperature resistance Tooling temperature - 40 to + 180 0C + 5 to + 35 0C Page 1 of 6

Please contact ROBERTS DESIGNS AUSTRALIA before writing specifications. 2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE 2.1. SURFACE PREPARATION Compatibility: Paints, lacquers, plastics and other coatings must be compatible to the sealant. Cleaning: Clean all joints/substrates, remove all foreign matter and contaminants such as grease, oil, dust, water, frost, surface dirt, old sealants, glazing compound, protective coatings (e.g. bituminous coatings) and other substances which can affect adhesion. The joint edges must be firm. Cleaners for porous substrates: They should be cleaned with stiff-bristled brush, rubbed down or sand-blasted. Cleaners for non-porous substrates: Should be cleaned with Maxisil N Cleaner, methylated spirit or other cleaners with an acetone or isopropanol basis. Use a clean, lint free, cotton cloth. 2.2 BACK-UP FOAM AND TAPE Back-up foam should be inserted in order to establish the correct depth of the joint and to avoid adhesion to the bottom of the joint. Underwater use: PE (polyethylene) back-up foam as cells are closed and water repellent Shallow joints: PE back-up tape 2.3. PRIMER SCHEDULE Substrates Recommended primer Concrete 1218 Page 2 of 6

Mortar 1218 Plaster 1218 Marble, granite and other kinds of natural stone Maxisil N + primer 1216 Glass + Ceramic tiles, glazed 1218 Ceramic tiles, unglazed 1218 Swimming pool sheets (DLW Delifol, Huis Trocal etc) 1217/101 Polyester 1217 Stainless steel (e.g V2A, V4A) 1216 Aluminium 1216 Aluminium anodised 1216 Chlorinated rubber paint 1215/T Symbols used for Recommended Primer - Not recommended + Good primerless adhesion T Test recommended 2.4 ADHESION AND PRIMING / PRIMER SCHEDULE Primer 1218: Mix thoroughly the two components (weight ratio 1:1). Use primer 1218 within 6 hours after two components have been mixed. Apply primer 1218 by brushing. Application primer: The primer must be applied in a thin even layer on the flanks of the joint. High demands on adhesion: Extreme fluctuations in temperature, tensile or shear forces, permanent water etc. cause high stress on adhesion. In such cases, it is advisable to apply primer according to the recommendations of our technical department. 2.5 APPLICATION SEALANT Avoid direct contact between sealant and plasticiser emitting products: Direct contact between sealant and the following plasticiser emitting products should be avoided because these products may cause yellowing of light-coloured silicone sealants: e.g. butyl rubber, ethylenepropylendienemonomerpolymer (EPDM), neoprene, bituminous coatings and products. Application sealant: Sealant must be applied after the primer has dried for at least 15 minutes. Primer 1218 must have dried for a least 2 hours. Avoid air entrapment: The joint must be completely filled to avoid air entrapment and to make the joint leak-proof. Page 3 of 6

Tooling/smoothing: The sealant must be smoothly tooled before the skin forms in order to ensure integral contact with joint flanks. Our smoother shows an excellent tuning to our sealant and is particularly kind to the skin. Masking tapes: Masking tapes must be removed immediately after tooling. Use the sealed objects the first time: Maxisil P Pool must have cured completely before the sealed object can be used the first time. Maxisl P Pool should have cured at least 4 days (preferably 2 weeks) at room temperature. 2.6 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING Cleaning and disinfection: Maxisil P Pool is equipped with fungicides and is not affected by the amount of chlorine utilized as swimming pool disinfection. It is of great importance to support the fungistatic properties of Maxisil P Pool by cleaning and disfecting the joints regularly. Roberts Designs recommends using special pool maintenance equipment. Important details on operating a swimming pool: To minimize an attack of fungus on the swimming pool sealant, CT Chemie Aust strongly recommends the observation of the following details. The disinfection of the swimming pool water with chlorine is indispensable. In addition to that, alternative processes may also be used. In order to prevent an attack of fungus effectively, sufficient chlorine disinfection must be ensured. Alternative processes like UV radiation or ozonization show insufficient disinfecting effect. Water conditions have to be as follows: Swimming pool 0.3 0.6 mg/litre of free chlorine Warm water whirlpool 0.7-1.0 mg/litre of free chlorine The present state of the art allows an amount of up to 1.2 mg/litre chlorine. The ph value of pool water is optimal if the value of chlorine concentrations may arise and may partially fall below the minimum concentration of 0.3 mg/litre. This drop causes germination of all existing spores and an attack of fungus. In order to ensure proper water circulation, the pool water should run constantly into the overflow facility of the pool. When using detergents, no acid detergents should be used as such detergents increase the danger of an attack of fungus. When reconstructing affected silicone joints, the silicone sealant must be removed completely. Otherwise penetrated fungus spores will grow quite fast through the renewed silicone sealant to the surface. Steam Jet apparatus: On using a steam-jet apparatus the distance between the joint and the steam nozzle is to be at least 50cm. 3.
