They are not to enter the pastures of other ranches, and the owners thereof are not to agree to this roundup. It is likewise prohibited for them to take unbranded livestock which is not within the same pastures of the said owners who are going on this occasion to make the specified roundup. For all this and the results thereof.i make the aforenamed alcalde Don Marcos Zepeda responsible. Dom[ing]o Cabello [D.S., 1-lv pp., in E. 4/21/1781-12/20/1781]

66 2v // S[a]n Ant[oni]o de Bexa.r, December 20, 1781 I have seen the aforegoing list of residents of this presidio and villa who are liable to pay the fee for the number of unbranded mestena cattle taken for their provisioning. I thus order and command Sergeant Domingo Peres, who is [sergeant] of the cavalry company of this presidio, to require those listed thereon to tender, upon the act of notification, the amount which it behooves them [to pay]. They are to understand that if they do not do so they will suffer the penalty of being imprisoned in the guardhouse until they pay the above-mentioned amount, since it is time it should be placed in the chest designated for this purpose. The sergeant shall execute [the order] in the appropriate manner. For all this I give him such faculty as may be required by law, 3 // advising him that as the said debtors are paying, he is to make a cross at the left of their forenames and surnames, which will be a sufficient requisite to prove payment of the said item [sic.
