ABOUT THE DOCUMENT Marcos MADRID - MEX 2016 ITTF-Latin American Cup Silver medalist 2016 Olympian The hosting rights of the following events are now available and open for bidding: - 2017 ITTF Pan American Cup - 2017 ITTF Pan American Championships - 2017 ITTF Pan American Junior Championships These top continental events are sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation, the Latin American Table Tennis Union and ITTF North America, and will be a valuable addition to your sporting calendar for the year. We would like to invite all interested cities and organisations to bid for the hosting rights of each individual event. In this document you will find out more information on the history of the events and brief hosting requirements. To help with the development of table tennis across the Americas, the hosting of the Pan American events will ideally follow a rotation policy around the four sport regions: Caribbean, Central America, North America and South America. ITTF PAN AMERICAN EVENTS Lady RUANO - COL 2016 ITTF-Latin American Cup Champion 2016 Olympian EVENT 1: ITTF PAN AMERICAN CUP QUALIFICATION FOR THE PRESTIGIOUS ITTF WORLD CUP The ITTF Pan American Cup consists of Men s Singles and Women s Singles events and is held annually. The highest standing player from Latin America and North America will have the honour of representing their continents in the ITTF Men / Women s World Cups. The ITTF Men s World Cup and Women s World Cup are World Title invitational events, considered one of the Grand Slams of Table Tennis. 19 top players from around the world are invited to the annual events, including the 6 Continental Champions. ITTF PAN AMERICAN EVENTS Kanak JHA - USA 2014 ITTF-North American Cup Champion 2016 Olympian EVENT 2: ITTF PAN AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFICATION FOR THE ITTF WORLD TEAM CUP The ITTF Pan American Championships consists of Teams and Individual events. The highest standing team from Latin America and North America will have the honour of representing the Americas at the ITTF World Team Cup. The ITTF World Team Cup is the World Title invitational Team event held once every 2 years, when the World Team Championships is not held. The top 12 Men s and Women s teams from around the world are invited to this exclusive event, qualifying through their respective continental event. Event Duration: 6 Days Estimated Participation: 128 athletes (64 men + 64 women) Page 10
ITTF PAN AMERICAN EVENTS Bruna TAKAHASHI - BRA 2015 World Cadet Challenge Champion 2016 Olympian EVENT 3: ITTF PAN AMERICAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS The ITTF Pan American Junior Championships is one of the top tournaments in the Americas for the region s rising stars (U18). The event sees athletes from the Americas striving to be the Junior Champion in teams and singles in the region. The top 4 teams will qualify for the World Junior Championships.
