The Maroons Soccer Club (MSC) tryout information for the 2018-2019 soccer season: For the 2018-19 season, MSC will follow the US SOCCER directive regarding the age group changes. MSC will offer the following age groups (number of teams at each age will depend on the tryouts) for 2017-18: - Boys: u9, u10, u11, u12, u13, u14, u15 - Girls: u9, u10, u11, u12, u13, u14, u15 U8 Evaluation Program: Maroons Soccer Club will be offering an u8 program for the fall 18 and spring 19 season. The format will be different from years past as Northern Counties Soccer Association are not going to be offering a league for u8 s to play in. the U8 program will be an in-town program similar to the current u7 program that many of you have played in. We will be offering all u8 s an evaluation on the dates listed below. Not all u8 players will be accepted into this program and those who do not make this program will be strongly urged to participate in the RSA program. The season will consist of two (2)90-minute training sessions per week in the spring and fall with 4v4 games on a Saturday or Sunday. We will try to scrimmage against other towns in a 4v4 format during the fall and spring. U16 to u19 may be available for the spring of 2019, tryouts for those age groups will be held in late November. Clarification of age groups for 2018-19: Birth-year registration calendars will continue to align with the start of the calendar year and run from 1 st January to 31 st December rather than 1 st August to 31 st July as it had previously. The birth-year registration initiative will be an excellent opportunity for players to play with new players for a well-rounded soccer experience. MSC understand that a lot of players play the game with their grade school friends, but this has been mandated for the good of youth soccer development and MSC would ask that all players and parents keep an open mind and embrace new faces, families and friends who love the beautiful game. For more information you can read the full mandate at: - Calendar-year age chart, provided by U.S. Soccer (Age groups subject to change based upon league and competition guidelines) - Click here for the official U.S. Soccer Federation announcement and presentation. General Club Information: The Maroons Soccer Club is a member of the highly competitive Northern Counties Soccer Association (NCSA) league and US Club Soccer organization. During the fall of 2017, our 26 th year, we fielded approximately 34 teams with more than 600 youth players. The goal of MSC is to offer our players a program focused on team and individual development, high quality technical training and an opportunity to compete with other club teams of equal caliber in an environment that fosters good sportsmanship. Our soccer club is a year-round sport. Our players and their families make a significant commitment when they join MSC. Fall and spring outdoor seasons, travel tournaments, winter indoor training, indoor tournaments. It adds up too many hours. Hours that can be incredibly fun and rewarding for the children if we all work together. The MSC soccer tournament, traditionally held on Father s Day weekend, is the end of season highlight and major fundraiser. Approximately 100 teams from the area participate and all club families are asked to help out. Games, practices and training:
There are typically 10 NCSA league games in both the fall and spring seasons. Boy s teams generally play on Saturday s in the fall and girls play on Sunday s. In the spring both boys and girls play on Sunday. During the winter, each team may choose to play in indoor leagues and/or indoor tournaments. Generally, each team will have 2 practices per week during the fall and spring and several indoor practice sessions during the winter. Every team receives a club stipend which is intended to partially offset the cost of a professional trainer. Most teams opt to seek out additional training or coaching and divide the cost among their registered players and families. MSC Fee s: The cost of MSC is compounded of two separate fees: Membership fee and an additional team fee. Membership Fee: The MSC membership fee for the fall and spring is $570.00 (based on 2017/18 rates, this may increase for the 2018/19 season) and can be paid via credit card or check (for check instructions please email Carolyn Muccio at maroonssoccer@yahoo.com. This fee is only one portion of the expense of MSC and will be payable upon notification of being selected for a team. The MCS membership fee is intended to cover league registration fees, referee fees, MSC sponsored training sessions and clinics, a stipend for professional trainers, insurance, field rental and improvements and administrative expenses. It also includes our very successful SAQ program with Parisi. Uniforms must be purchased in addition to these fees. Team Fees: Each team will incur additional costs which will vary from approximately $175.00 to $575.00 per player. Teams that play in other leagues as well as NSCA could incur significantly higher costs. The variation in team costs is due to many factors including the size of the roster, usage of professional trainers, usage of professional game day coaching, number of tournaments and other team specific activities (such as winter training). Off season activities are expected to be voluntary. Levels of team fee s: Gold: teams will be responsible for the fees of a professional trainer for 2 training sessions per week and attendance at every game. At this level it is recommended that you also have your professional trainer for at least 1 training session during the winter at an indoor facility. Your trainer will also attend 1 fall tournament and 1 spring tournament. Silver: teams will be responsible for the fees for a professional trainer for 2 training sessions per week and attendance at 5 games in the fall and 5 games in the spring. It is also recommended at this level to have your trainer for 1 training sessions during the winter at an indoor facility. You will have the option to have your trainer at 1 fall tournament and 1 spring tournament. Bronze: teams will be responsible for the fees for a professional trainer for 2 training sessions per week. For all levels, MSC will pay the first $1,000.00 of training fees for the fall season and the spring season. MSC also pays for 30 minutes per week for Parisi speed and agility sessions. For all levels, please plan the following for your budget: 3 hrs. of training for 11 weeks in the fall and 11 weeks in the spring
All games are billed at 2 hours per game. This includes tournament games and state cup games and regular league games. Financial Hardship: A player will not be denied participation based on financial hardship. Parents may always inquire about the potential costs of joining a certain team in advance of committing to a specific team. Additionally, if finances are a concern, please contact the MSC President, Paul Boogaert at boogaert@gmail.com
