D303 MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMIT Three upcoming community meetings will discuss possible solutions for middle school facilities issues. District 303 will conduct three Summit 303 Community Meetings focused on facility issues at middle schools on April 14, 18, and 21. The purpose of the meetings is to gather community input on how the District 303 community can address middle school building shortcomings such as outdated science labs, lack of air conditioned classrooms, small cafeterias and aging mobile classrooms. Input from high school parents is crucial because of your perspective and recent experience as a parent of a student attending middle school. We would like to see as many high school parents as possible at these meetings. Also, please encourage any of your neighbors who do not have students in District 303 to attend one of these meetings. The District 303 Board of Education is seeking to consolidate from three middle schools to two in order to save an estimated $2.4 million per year while also enhancing the educational experience for students. These meetings will use the Summit 303 format in which those attending will be presented with facts about the middle school issues. After the presentation, Summit 303 attendees will then work in small groups to determine consensus points about how those issues might be resolved. FROM THE PTO Each year the PTO sponsors an event at the high school after Prom called Post Prom. This is supported by our community, staff and administration at East in addition to many, many hours put in by our decoration committee. We are asking for help from parents. As we get closer to April 30, we find we are in need of more help with decorations. Could you possibly spare a few hours? We meet at the storefront in between the old Butera and the Sears appliance store. There will be someone there with instructions Tuesday mornings from 10:00 AM 12:30 PM, Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM 8:30 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM 12:30 PM. In addition, please mark your calendars for Friday, April 29 from 2:30 10:00 PM and Saturday April 30 beginning at 9:00 AM to help install & transform the high school. We only have a few weeks left to complete our decorations. If you would like to volunteer, contact Amy Dillenburg at amyjean1104@gmail.com. JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER... The PTO membership and directory is online. Please go to stcharleseastpto.membershiptoolkit.com to sign up for PTO membership and to volunteer for PTO events. The schedule for Middle School Summit is: (The meetings will be similar, you can attend any of the three meetings) Thursday, April 14 Thompson Middle School 6:30 8:30 PM Monday, April 18 Haines Middle School 6:30 8:30 PM Thursday, April 21 Wredling Middle School 6:30 8:30 PM The feedback from these meetings will be presented to the Board of Education at a Special Meeting of the Board on Monday, April 25, at 7:00 PM in the Board Room of the District 303 Administration Building, 201 South 7th St., St. Charles.
