Prez Sez September is here already! That means Poway Rodeo and an opportunity for PVRA work hours. The bleachers are scheduled to arrive Sept. 5 and the Rodeo committee will begin their set up Sept. 17. The grounds will not be closed until Wednesday, September 20. If you feel the need to ride, please be careful where you ride, watch out for machinery being operated and be courteous. These folks are all volunteers trying to do a job that, ultimately benefits PVRA financially and civically. I will have a short work party Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10:00 am to noon. This will be to move all chairs, trash cans, etc. to the back of the property. PVRA work hours given. If you are interested, you can get in touch or just show up. Thank you, in advance. September, also, brings the revival of Poway Days beginning with the parade Sept. 9. Please visit powaydays.com for complete information on three weekends of fun things to do in our great City. Enjoy your Club, Nancy

Membership: Pony Club is down to 9 families. Parente resigned. Otherwise, no changes. Treasurer s Report: Checking: $7,347.37 MM: $38,289.66 Total: $45,637.03 Question: Any big pending payments soon? Liability insurance in October or November. Horse Shows Chuckwagon: Nancy and AJ are doing that on a regular basis. Budgeted $4000 for Chuckwagon, may be lucky to get half way there. Drill: Just started at PVRA. Rodeo: Geared up for weekend of September 23. Boards came, are lying behind bleachers. Need a work party. BMOM: July is Daniel, August is Nancy. Old Business Saddle Series: Nancy called Taya about the saddle series. Clarified, she wants to keep the buckles series June-July-August, and have saddle series Oct-Nov-Dec. This could be risky in rainy season. New Business Wash rack: The drain is 4 JULY BOARD HIGHLIGHTS clogged. It needs to be reamed out every 1-2 months to keep it working. Now something is in there. Would be $50-100 to clean it out. Pony Club uses wash rack and polo uses it during tournaments. Polo is using hoses next to trees. Laborer: Need to find someone who is there all day, ideally Friday and Monday or Tuesday, to get ready and clean up after shows and to get the projects done, not piecemealing the hours. Jump moving: Discussed how to get jumps moved out for shows. Profit & Loss statement: Gillian has updated versions. Tack Sale: Gillian says we are still having it on July 30 (Hunter Jumper show), but no one has signed up as a vendor yet. Will have them up front if just a few vendors. Complaints: Complaints about jumps at Hunter Jumper show were discussed. Gillian mentioned the binder for jump layouts that PVRA has. Daniel mentioned to be sure to leave room for water truck/ tractor around jumps. CPR/First Aid/AED flyer: Possible first aid/cpr clinic proposal was discussed. Adjourned at 8:39 PM, motioned by Ann, seconded by Murray.

AUGUST GENERAL MEETING MINUTES Called to order, 7:08 PM, Minutes: Motion to table approval of the July minutes (because Horse Tales did not get out) by Janice, seconded by Louann. Approved. Treasurer s Report: (Gillian) Checking $13,1194.11 Money Market $38,292.23 Total $51,486.34 Polo gave their 50% split from Polo Night. Half of proceeds went to charity, we got $350. Also have a new nonworking family, dressage show made almost $3,000, all breed made $4,600. Gillian will be sending out mid-year billing, but not many people qualified for billing because people have been participating and doing their hours. Membership Report: (Gillian) Rick Crane (WF, polo), and Cathy Beausang (from polo) are joining. Committee Reports Rodeo: (Nancy) Rodeo on September 22 & 23; Rodeo will take over grounds on September 17. We are replacing 29-32 boards in the bleachers, will have work parties, first will be this weekend on Saturday starting at 8 AM, but will be done before the Gymkhana. Drilling, hammering, sawing, painting, bring your own tools. Trish asked when tickets go on sale; check the rodeo web site. Chuckwagon: (Sam) Took in about $90 on Hunter Jumper show, got a big tip from Parker. Sam will not be here this weekend. AJ will take care of it. BMOM: August BMOM is Nancy Kirchhofer. Drill: Just starting doing Monday and Wednesday nights, have 9 girls on team, one is an alternate. Pony Club: Just went to Kentucky for championship quiz rally, one took 4 th (Emily s group), one took 9 th (Evie s group). Emily and Evie went. (Dani emailed the following) I talked to Emily and her mom a bit about Pony Club. They said Nina is pretty much completely out and the parents are doing most of the stuff. It's difficult since most are working parents with no horse experience so not much is getting done. They were disheartened. Polo: Dark during month of September due to bleachers. No official polo scheduled, might have unorganized polo. Trails: (Ann) No updates. Work Hours: Most people have enough hours and no billing is required. Gillian is not billing for 2-3 hours, but will bill for more hours. Horse Shows All Breed: (Mikey) Had a double judged show, was not as well attended. It was hot, and people were on vacation. Double judging was just a bit much, probably won t do that again. Made $4,672, had 39 exhibitors. $3,648 in show fees, $342 grounds fees, drug fees. $390 on raffle, Professional Choice and Elston s did a lot of nice items, cousin made nice jewelry. Next show is at end of August (August 27 is last show); Nancy will make sure there is no bleacher repair going on. Getting good feedback, people enjoyed them, running smoothly, judge complimented them. Thanks to all volunteers!! Asked if they could use Pony Club poles, Nancy says yes, they belong to PVRA. Bridge is a little high and not wide enough, so don t use it for the trail horses. Got pre-entries already for next show. Dressage: (Janice) Next show is August 20, a week before all breed show, last dressage show of the season. Need volunteers, contact Janice. Gillian had asked why attendance is down. CDS started 2 more schooling shows, people are spread out more. Shows are still pretty well attended. Had 32 horses, went all day with one arena. Really hot. Chuckwagon wasn t open, except they had drinks (i.e., water; leftover water was left in Chuckwagon). Sam offered to set up a cooler with drinks to sell. Fun Shows: Next one is in October, the Halloween fun show. (Dani emailed the following) October is looking good; we'll put up the premium soon. Gymkhana: Next weekend (August 12). Hunter Jumper: Nancy thinks they are finished. (Dani emailed the following) Hunter Jumper went pretty well, smaller but everyone had fun and went smoothly. Tack sale had about 4 vendors, they seemed happy as well. Show ended at 2. Rhonda has them running very nicely, Suzy (Juelena's assistant) checked all the jump courses set before the show to make sure they were good so no one would be upset like at the last show. CT: Rhonda wants to reschedule CT for an October date. She does want to do it. High Point: Will be up to date in Horse Tales. Old Business Calendar: All weekends are full with shows till end of September. Worker: (Nancy) We are looking for a new laborer. Mikey says in ring 2, right where gate opens, there is a little shelf along the rail, needs to be smoothed out. New Business Possible rental: AJ knows someone who might be interested in renting part of grounds for a clinic and asked about the rental rate. Front Gate Damage: (Dani emailed the following) Someone at the show ran into the front gate again. Minimal damage, Gillian looked at it and said she'd let Joe know to see if he could fix it. The latch on the gate towards stock farm is bent a bit so it cannot be opened from horseback. Both gates need to be opened, then gently placed together at the same time to close the gate now. Nancy says it is all fixed now. Per Gillian, pin had been bent because someone scraped their truck side along the gate. Nothing was broken. Nominating Committee: Need to form that at the August general meeting. Committee needs to contact sitting board members, and then report to September general meeting, then continue on, then report at October general meeting and we take nominations from the floor. Sam will help, also Colleen and Virginia. Need 7 positions, Murray and Veronika have completed 2 years. Janice will help with voting procedures. Motion to adjourn by Janice, seconded by Louann, approved. 5 Adjourned
