This trophy is awarded to the fastest 12/U/200 m Individual Medley Female Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer in L.C. events and State Championships conducted by Swimming SA. First Awarded: 1973 Sumin Song Bill Grier Trophy 12 AND UNDER INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY MALE Perpetual trophy donated by Bill Grier (a parent of Karen Grier, a Club early record holder). This trophy is awarded to the fastest 12/U/200 m Individual Medley Male Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer. In L.C. events and State Championships conducted by Swimming SA. First Awarded: 1973 Christian Valente Ted Geary Trophy LONG SWIM This was named after Ted Geary (a senior member of the Norwood Club who specialized in long swims). The trophy is awarded to a Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer who is the highest ranked swimmer who has competed in long swims or who has represented the Club for the first time. The aim is encourage swimmers to compete in long distance swimming. First Awarded: 1979 Michael Carter Norwood Swimming Club Female Improvement Shield HIGHEST CONSISTENT IMPROVEMENT FEMALE Donated by the Broom family (Terry Broom was a previous Norwood Committee Member). This trophy is awarded to a Female Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer who has achieved the highest consistent improvement throughout the year calculated on times swum at both short and long course events at Swimming SA meets over the course of the swimming year as a percentage improvement based on the swimmer s personal best times at the beginning of the swimming year. All strokes and distances are included. First Awarded: 1996 Lauren Smallman Norwood Swimming Club Male Improvement Shield HIGHEST CONSISTENT IMPROVEMENT MALE Donated by John and Kathryn McKenzie (Previous Norwood Committee Members) and awarded to the Male Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer who has achieved the highest consistent improvement. 2 Symons Trophy OPEN CARNIVAL Donated by the late Mrs Lesley Symons (Norwood Swimming Club Life Member). This trophy is awarded to the Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer who gains the most points for the Club at Open Carnivals in both scratch and handicap events. Points are awarded as follows: First = 3, Second = 2, Third = 1. Points are awarded as follows: 1 st : 8 points. 2 nd : 7. 3 rd : 6. 4 th : 5. 5 th : 4. 6 th : 3. 7 th : 2. 8 th : 1. Points are obtained by checking all Carnival results on Swimming SA website. First Awarded: 1980 Callum Causer Family Relay Trophy The Family Relay is usually held at a State Swim during a Club event. Family Team can consist of 1 parent and 1 child from one family and 2 other swimmers. Preferably 1 child and 1 senior swimmer (16 and over). This is a handicap event. First Awarded: 1982 NOT SWUM National Age Championship SKIT CHAMPIONS At each Australian Age Championship, before the competition commences, as a team building exercise all the swimmers attending are divided into small groups of 3 or 4. They all perform a skit based on a mutual agreed theme e.g. TV ads/films. Comprises: A perpetual trophy and a small replica. First Awarded: 1999 Leah Cutting, Taylor Rittenberg, Ben Edmonds Glenda Bowen-Pain Trophy SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SWIMMING LONG COURSE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP Named after Norwood Swimming Club Founder and Life Member. It is awarded to a Norwood Club Swimmer achieving the best performance at Swimming SA Long Course State Championships who achieves or is closest to a South Australian Record or Best by South Australian All Comers Record. Each swim time is assessed as a percentage of the appropriate record, thus allowing different swim distances and styles to be compared. If more than one swimmer breaks a record, the closest to a National Record is chosen. The winner may be either Male or Female. First Awarded: 1981 Bill and Joan Hall Trophy SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SWIMMING LONG COURSE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP Named after Norwood Swimming Club Founders and Life Members. This trophy is also awarded for the best performance at Swimming SA Long Course State Championships. The selection criteria are the same as for the Glenda Bowen-Pain Trophy, except that this trophy must be awarded to a Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer of the opposite gender from the winner of the Glenda Bowen-Pain Trophy. Christian Valente Geoff Moffat Trophy OPEN SQUAD DEDICATION AND APPLICATION TO TRAINING Perpetual trophy was donated by Geoff Moffat (who twice swam the English Channel and father of Sean Moffat a Club Record Holder and National Swimmer). This trophy is awarded to an Open Squad Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer for dedication and application to training throughout the swimming year and is selected by the Squad Head Coach. First Awarded: 1986 Taylor Rittenberg Age Squad Trophy DEDICATION AND APPLICATION TO TRAINING This trophy was donated by the Potts Family. (Gary Potts was a Norwood Swimming Club Committee Member and Nicola Potts is Club Registrar and son, Declan Potts, Age and Open Champion Swimmer.) This trophy is awarded to an Age Squad Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer for dedication and application to training throughout the swimming year and is selected by the Age Squad Head Coach. Emma Duncan

This trophy is awarded to a Top Squad Norwood Swimming Club swimmer for dedication and application to training throughout the swimming year and is selected by the Top Squad Head Coach. First Awarded: 2008 William Duncan Competitive Squad Trophy DEDICATION AND APPLICATION TO TRAINING This trophy was donated by the Carter Family, (Chris Carter was a Foundation Member of the Norwood Swimming Club and Kathryn Carter is a Norwood Swimming Club Committee Member). This trophy is awarded to a Competitive Squad Norwood Swimming Club swimmer for dedication and application to training throughout the swimming year and is selected by the Competitive Squad Head Coach. Lauren Smallman Angie Mondello Pursuit of Excellence Trophy DRY LAND TRAINING This perpetual trophy was donated by Angie Mondello who was a previous Norwood Swimming Club Committee Member and extraordinary fundraiser. She is the Norwood Swimming Club Dry Land and Fitness Trainer and Norwood Swimming Club Team Manager. It is awarded to an Open or Age Norwood Swimming Club swimmer for dedication and application in pursuit of excellence in Dry Land and Fitness Training and is selected by the Dry Land Fitness Trainer. Lucas Ciacciarelli Kim Wong Trophy DEDICATED CLUB SWIMMER This trophy was donated by the Wong Family. (Kim Wong was a very active Norwood Swimming Club Committee Member over many years and a qualified Swimming Australia Referee.) This trophy is awarded to a Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer for their dedication and valued support throughout the year to the Norwood Swimming Club and fellow swimmers. It is selected by all of the Norwood Swimming Club Squad Coaches and the Dry Land Fitness Coordinator. Lucas Ciacciarelli Chipperfield Family Trophy FOR LEADERSHIP/ROLE MODEL This trophy was donated by the Chipperfield Family. (Ann Chipperfield was the Editor of the Winners, Norwood Swimming Club Team Manager and Organiser, Martin Chipperfield was the Winners and Web Page Editor, Hannah Chipperfield was an Age and Open Swimmer and is now an ASCTA Swimming Coach and Grace Chipperfield was an Age Swimmer.) This trophy is awarded to a National Open or Age Swimmer who has demonstrated consistent and excellent leadership, team spirit and dedication to the Norwood Swimming Club and is a role model to all young swimmers. This trophy is selected by the National Open and Age Squad Head Coach and is not necessarily awarded to a Club Captain. Jenni O Neil Broom Family Trophy NORWOOD SWIMMING CLUB RECORDS BROKEN FEMALE This trophy donated by the Broom Family (Terry Broom was a previous Norwood Committee Member). This trophy is awarded to a female Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer who obtains the highest FINA point score for an individual Olympic event at Swimming Australia, Australian Long Course Swimming Championship. David Bishop Open National Trophy SWIMMING AUSTRALIAN LONG COURSE CHAMPIONSHIP MALE Donated by David Bishop Norwood Swimming Club Life Member. This trophy is awarded to a male Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer who obtains the highest FINA point score for an individual Olympic event at the Swimming Australia, Australian Long Course Swimming Championships. First Awarded: 2006 Hayden Stoeckel J F Howson Trophy SHORT COURSE This trophy was won by the Norwood Swimming Club at the 2008 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships. This was the first time in the history of South Australian swimming that a South Australian Club has come first in Australia. The Norwood Swimming Club had previously in 2008 come second in the Telstra Australian Open Championships and third in the 2008 Australian Age Championships. This trophy is awarded to a Norwood Swimming Club swimmer who obtains the highest FINA point score for an individual event at any recognized FINA Short Course Swim Meet including Swimming Australia s, Short Course Championship. Charlotte Clarke Matthew Cowdrey Jane South National Age Trophy AUSTRALIAN AGE CHAMPION FEMALE Donated by the South Family (John South, Norwood Swimming Club Life Member). This trophy is awarded to a female Norwood Swimming Club Swimmer who obtains the highest FINA point score for an individual event at Swimming Australia, Australian Age Swimming Championships. First Awarded: 1973 The Club uses the FINA Point Score for determining all trophies as applicable or as determined by the Club Management Committee. For the Swimming Year 2009/2010, the Club is using Australian Swimming Point Score and Rankings. These are based on December 31 st 2007 swimming times before the introduction of the new swimsuits or as determined by the Club Management Committee.
