1. Layout the contents of the box to check you have all the components. 2. Select a flat, level grass area with dense soil to install the Be-Safe Pool Fence. *Please note this fence is only suitable for dense grass areas with a solid foundation. Soft clay, sand bases or any type of loose soil will not be stable enough to support the fence* 3. Entryway - Planning your entryway is an important step that should be taken in consideration prior to deciding where you construct your Be-Safe Pool Fence. 4. Lay the gate base plate (Part C) down where you would like your entryway. 5. Place 4 ground spigots (Part I) in the large holes of the base plate. 6. Insert the 30cm long post section (part D) in each spigot and one at a time hammer the spigot into the ground. Note: Do not directly hammer/hit the top of the ground spigot. *Be sure to check each spigot is straight & level as it enters the ground*
7. Insert the gate post sections into the ground spigots. Note: Gate should open out away from the pool. 8. Insert the top archway over the inner gate posts. 9. Tighten the locking screws on each ground spigot and archway (Part F). *Please note it is important at this stage to check the safe and consistent operation of your gate. Conduct repeat tests of opening the gate fully and allowing it to slam shut. Every time the gate shuts it should latch close. If you find the gate is not latching shut every time please check the level of the gate assembly and reposition or adjust to ensure safe and consistent operation of the gate mechanism*
10. Layout your fence panel sections to position the ground spigots. 11. Once you are satisfied with the position of the fence sections begin installing the ground spigots as per the process in point 6. Note: Be sure to check each spigot is straight & level as it enters the ground 12. With the ground spigots firmly in place begin inserting each fence section post into the spigots, starting from either side of the gate & working your way around. Note: When you are first installing the fence, tension at the top of the poles is not achieved until after the sections of fence are fully attached to one another by the hook and eyes. 13. With all fence posts inserted into the ground now tighten the locking screws on each ground spigot. 14. Connect the hook & eye latches (Part H) at the top of each post where one fence section meets another. 15. Insert the tent pegs (Part J) through the eyelet in the bottom of each mesh fence panel and hammer into the ground to secure the base of the mesh. 16. Attach your CPR chart to the fence or gate with the supplied cable ties.
Congratulations your Be-Safe Pool Fence is now complete! Please read & understand the following important information: It is very important to regularly check the safe and consistent operation of your gate. Conduct repeated tests of opening the gate fully and allowing it to slam itself shut. Each time the gate shuts it should latch close. If you find the gate is not latching shut every time please check the level of the gate assembly and reposition or adjust to ensure safe and consistent operation of the gate mechanism. This fence is only suitable for dense grass areas with a solid foundation. Soft clay, sand bases or any type of loose soil will not be stable enough to support the fence. Regularly inspect the fence, mesh, posts and ground spigots for any damage or wear. Ensure all ground spigots are tight and unable to be easily removed at all times. Do not hang anything on the fence, like towels or toys. Regularly check the hinges and gate latch for safe operation. A general purpose grease should be applied to the operating parts of the gate to ensure smooth operation at all times. If you are NOT making a complete circle with your fence take into consideration that the fence must be attached to a fixed structure, then use the hook and eye to attach it and create tension. There are certain criteria you should use when deciding where to locate your fence. Make sure the fence isolates the pool area from all exits of the house. All sides of your pool area should be enclosed. Layers of protection such as a fence, pool alarm, door alarm, personal immersion alarms and constant competent adult supervision in and around your swimming pool can help reduce unauthorized access to the pool area. Your Be-Safe Pool Fence will require approval from your local council. Please contact your local council to discuss the installation and approval of your fence before attempting assembly. The Be-Safe Pool Fence complies with Australian Standard AS1926.1-2012 Safety Barriers for Swimming Pools. A copy of this test report & certificate are supplied with this manual. For a copy of the report & certificate please contact Hunter Products. Refer to Australian standard AS 2818-1993 Guide to swimming pool safety & AS 1926.2-2007 Location of safety barriers for swimming pools for further guidance on where to locate & construct your Be-Safe Pool Fence Maintenance of your Be-Safe Pool Fence : The Be-Safe Pool Fence is generally maintenance free but below are some helpful tips: If the fence gets dirty clean only with soapy water mild detergents. Do not use harsh chemicals like bleach. After a day of splashing from the pool, hose down the fence with a garden hose. Depending on the level of chlorine in the pool, pool water left on the fencing could pose deterioration issues. Store the pool fence in a dry, mould free area. Do not store with pool chemicals as the vapours or leakage may cause deterioration issues. If you have trouble inserting the posts into the ground spigot use a metal file or sand paper over the end of the post to smooth it and remove any defects that may cause it to jam on the spigot.
