Format: 1) All tournaments will consist of 4 game minimum made up of 3 pool games used in seeding into single elimination play. NSA rules apply. 2) Pitching distances will be 35 feet for 10U, 40 feet for 12U, and 43 feet for 14U and 16U. 3) Best overall Record 4) Head to Head record (only applicable if all teams involved) 5) 16 team max for all levels 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U 6) Fewest runs allowed 7) Coin Toss (if more than two teams involved, a draw out of a hat is used) 8) Forfeits will be recorded as a score of 7-0 per NSA 9) All levels may Bat the Bench. Note that if you bat the bench and a player is hurt while running and cannot continue, the injured player will be out. If a player leaves the game, she is automatically out in the batting order until the end of the game. She will not be charged an out when she comes up in the batting order thereafter. 10) All tournament levels will follow the NASA fastpitch softball rules 11) Game times: One hour and 30 minutes time limit in pool play. No new innings shall be started beyond one hour and 30 minutes, however any inning started shall be completed. No time limit in semi-finals and final game. 12) NSA mercy rule 12, 10, 8 runs ahead after 3,4,5 innings for all games. 13) International tie breaker, NSA rule only applies to playoff games after 7 innings or after 1 hour 30 minutes, regardless of time and regardless of innings. Pool play may end in a tie. 14) During pool play, the home team will be determined by a coin toss. The team traveling the farthest may call the coin toss. In all playoff games, the highest ranked team has the choice of being home or away. In the playoffs, the highest seeded team will occupy the first base dugout. 15) Two umpires per game will be offered for 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U levels. Tournament Rules: 1) Age as of January 1 per NSA 2) NSA official rules will apply. Protests resolved as the time of the protest and carry a charge per NSA. Tournament director or UIC (when available) will have the final say. 3) No batting or infield practice allowed on game diamonds. Outfield practice is permitted. 4) Each team is responsible for their insurance per NSA. Lou Gehrig, the Town of Amherst, Lou Gehrig Youth Baseball and Softball League, tournament directors and the umpires in chief assume no responsibility for insurance or injury. P a g e 2 Version 8
Location: Our tournament will be held at the main Lou Gehrig complex located at 50 Dann Road in East Amherst, NY. Registration: You must submit your roster with player s date of birth and insurance certificates no later than 30 minutes before your first scheduled game. Proof of players date of birth (birth certificate) will not be collected but must be available to be viewed on demand at any time during the tournament. Failure to provide this document will result in player disqualification. Complex: Our main complex has bleachers on every diamond, restrooms, picnic benches, shelters, handicap parking, paved walkways, ample parking, and a very well equipped concession stand. The concession stand serves hot and cold food and refreshments including but not limited to hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, pizza, fries, nachos, coffee, sport drinks, water, ice cream and much more. NO pet animals are allowed on the complex. Bicycles are not permitted on the walking paths. Skateboards and roller blades are prohibited. Safety: Ice and a small supply of bandages are available in the concession stand. Managers should have an emergency supply kit for their team and spectators available at all games. AED is located in the main concession stand, phone police and/or emergency vehicles (911). See map for directions to the local hospital. We have very few trees but have recently upgraded dugout areas to include overhead tarps. Teams and spectators are encouraged to bring a tarp or portable canopy as needed. We will use the double first base orange and white bag for safety purposes. Batter helmets must have double ear protection and safety straps and cages must be NOCSAE approved. Catcher s helmets must have both ear and throat protection. Catchers must have helmets on while warming up pitchers. Player Bats must be certified ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, ISF. Rain: In the event of inclement weather, please ensure that all managers and coaches have provided cell phone numbers to the tournament directors. Lou Gehrig will be using their voice mail system and home page of www.laserstravelsoftball.com for up to date field conditions. Tournament directors can also be directly contacted for up to date information. The Level Tournament Director and/or Travel Team Director reserves the right to make changes in the amount of guaranteed games based upon unforeseen circumstances including, but not limited to weather, and in case of a rain out, no refund is guaranteed but may be given, in whole or part, at the discretion of the Travel Team Director.
