Our Recreation Department staff and volunteers have spent the last several months planning what will prove to be an exciting week of youth baseball. In coming to North Charleston, you will have the opportunity to play on one of the finest baseball facilities in the southeast at. 2014 15U Dixie Boys Baseball Regional Tournament Home Run Derby Rules The Home Run Derby will take place at MWV/Kapstone Park on Thursday June 19 th at 6:00pm. One player from each team will be selected by their Head Coach no later than 12:00pm on Friday June 13, 2014. This selection must be submitted to T.J. Rostin at tjrostin@northcharleston.org or 843-813-3058. The Head Coach must also select one (1) pitcher for each contestant. This pitcher must be listed on the official tournament roster. It can be a player or coach. This selection must also be submitted to T.J. Rostin no later than 12:00pm on Friday June 13, 2014. Each contestant and their pitcher must wear their team s official uniform during the Home Run Derby. The hitting order for the first round will be determined during a drawing at the Good Old Fashioned Cookout on Thursday June 19 th. Only contestants and their pitchers will be allowed on the field during the Home Run Derby. 1 st Round **All Hr s must be hit in fair territory** Eight (8) players will compete in the first round. Each contestant will have eight (8) outs in this round. An out is registered when a player swings at a pitch and fails to hit a HR in fair territory The Top four (4) players with the highest HR total will advance to the Semi-Final Round Tie-breaker If one or more contestants are tied at the end of the first round, the tied contestants will have a swing off. During the swing off, each player will have one (1) out. The contestant that hits the most home runs will advance to the Semi-Final round. If contestants are still tied, the contestant with the longest non-hr will advance to the semi-final round. The longest non-hr will be determined by the length that the ball travels in the air. The ball will be marked once it hits the ground. Semi-Final Round - **All Hr s must be hit in fair territory** Four (4) players will compete in the semi-final round. Each contestant will have eight (8) outs in this round. An out is registered when a player swings at a pitch and fails to hit a HR in fair territory The Top two (2) players with the highest combined HR total from the first round and semi-final round will advance to the Championship Round. (Ex. Player A hits four (4) HR in the first round and three (3) HR in the semi-final round, his combined total is seven (7) homeruns) Tie-breaker If one or more contestants are tied at the end of the semi-final round, the tied contestants will have a swing off. During the swing off, each player will have four (4) swings. The contestant that hits the most home runs will advance to the Championship round. If contestants are still tied, the contestant with the longest non-hr will advance to the Championship round. The longest non-hr will be determined by the length that the ball travels in the air. The ball will be marked once it hits the ground. Championship Round - **All Hr s must be hit in fair territory** Two (2) players will compete in the Championship round. Each contestant will have eight (8) outs in this round. An out is registered when a player swings at a pitch and fails to hit a HR in fair territory The player with the most HR in the Championship Round will be declared the winner. Home run total from the first two rounds will not carry over into the Championship round. Tie-breaker If the two contestants are tied at the end of the Championship round, the tied contestants will have a swing off. During the swing off, each player will have four (4) swings. The contestant that hits the most home runs will be declared the winner. If contestants are still tied, the contestant with the longest non-hr will be declared the winner. The longest non-hr will be determined by the length that the ball travels in the air. The ball will be marked once it hits the ground. Inclement Weather Clause: In the event the Home Run Derby is cancelled due to inclement weather, it will not be rescheduled.
