Codes of Behaviour Coaches & Parents Code of Behaviour Remember that young people participate for pleasure and winning is only part of the fun. Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience. Be reasonable in your demands on players time, energy and enthusiasm. Never ridicule or yell at a young player for making a mistake. Operate within the rules and Spirit of Cricket and teach your players to do the same. Any physical contact with a young person should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the players skill development. Avoid overplaying the talented players all young players need and deserve equal time, attention and opportunities. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all individuals within the context of Cricket and do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, ethnic background or special ability. Obtain appropriate qualifications (Coaching Accreditation & Working with Vulnerable People Registration) and keep up to date with the latest cricket coaching practices and principles of growth and development of young people. Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players. Display and foster the respect for umpires, opponents, coaches, parents and spectators. Players Code of Behaviour Play by the rules. Work equally hard for yourself and your teammates. Your team s performance will benefit and so will you. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether made by your team or the opposition. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging of other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted behaviour in cricket. Co-operate with your coach, teammates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition. Treat all participants in cricket as you would like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage. Be a good sport yourself actions speak louder than words. 3

Hurricanes Junior League Playing Conditions Category Two Season 2017/18 4

Hurricanes Junior League Category Two Summary of Rules Hours of Play Monday Evenings from 5:30pm 7:35pm. Age Eligibility Players must be Under 12 as at 31 st August 2017. Protective Helmet (including Wicket-Keeper when keeping up to stumps). Equipment Pads, Gloves & Protector. Ball Kookaburra Rookie 135g (Red) (supplied by CT). Boundary 40 metres maximum. Boundary is measured from the batters end stumps. Team Seven (7) players per team (on field). Maximum nine (9) players allocated to a team Innings 20 overs per team. Pitch The wicket shall be 16 metres in length (from wicket to wicket). Batting Batters are to retire after 17 balls (based on 7 players in a team) If there is an extra bowl to be bowled, the batter facing at the time will face the extra delivery (i.e 17 balls x 7 players = 119 balls) All balls regardless of wides/no balls will be included in the batters ball count Batters are to swap ends following a dismissal. If there is a run out, the not out batter should face the next delivery. Bowling All players are to bowl (including the wicket-keeper) eg 6 players x 3 overs & 1 player x 2 overs. Maximum six (6) balls per over (including No Balls & Wides) As per CA Youth Pace Bowling Guidelines: U/11 s Two (2) Overs Maximum Each Spell U/12 s Four (4) Overs Maximum Each Spell In the interest of time, all overs are to be bowled from one end for the entire match Fielding If more than 7 players are present at a match, teams should rotate extra players onto the field during the innings. Wicket-Keepers 2 Players x 10 Overs each No fielders within 15 metres of batter or each other (except wicket keeper) to encourage singles and safety Dismissals Unlimited dismissals. Each player will face the nominated number of balls each (ie 17 balls for 7 players in a team). For each wicket lost, four (4) runs shall be added to the opposition at the end of the innings 5

Hurricanes Junior League Category Two Description The Hurricanes Junior League Category Two competition is Stage One of Cricket Australia s Junior Formats. This format is designed for those kids who have completed the MILO T20 Blast program and are ready for their first taste of junior club competition. Designed to stimulate action and test game sense and skills whether batting, bowling or fielding. Skill Objectives Hit moving ball on two sides of the field. Run between wickets with judgement and calling. Bowl over 16 metres with a straight arm and within the batter s reach. Participants can catch and throw >20metres. Can perform tasks when asked at training and during the game. Basic self-awareness and respect for others. Participates in all activities at training. Eats before a training/game and brings drink bottle to training and on game days. Engages positively at training and on game day. Wears appropriate clothing and footwear to training. General Rules Age Eligibility - Players must be Under 12 as at 31 st August 2017. Hours of Play - Monday Evenings from 5:30pm 7:30pm. Number of Players - Teams shall consist of seven (7) players on the field at one time, with nine (9) players maximum to a team. If the team numbers are not even, coaches may mix players with the opposition to ensure an even contest, without exceeding seven (7) fielders on the ground at any one time (see page 8 for minimum players and impact). Balls - Kookaburra 135g Rookie Ball (Red) are to be used (Cricket Tasmania Supplied). Scoring and Entry of Match Results in MyCricket Teams have the option to either: Score with the MyCricket Live Score App (Apple or Android) which is applicable to Category Two Rules and Regulations, with the match automatically uploaded to MyCricket when you enter an internet connection or; Use Cricket Tasmania supplied scoresheets and match results (and player scores) can be entered in MyCricket following the conclusion of the match Protective Equipment - Batters and Wicket-Keepers are required to use full protective equipment including; helmets with full face protection, protectors, pads etc (thigh pads are optional). The umpires shall not allow play to commence until both batters are wearing protective equipment. Inclement Weather - If conditions are inclement, coaches are to use their discretion to achieve an even/fair match. 6

Hurricanes Junior League Category Two Match Each innings shall consist of a maximum of 20 six-ball overs. A maximum of six (6) ball overs is to be applied. Note bowlers DO NOT re-bowl wides and no balls. The wicket shall be 16 metres in length (from wicket to wicket). Maximum length of the boundary shall be 40 metres from the batters end stumps The break between innings should be no more than five (5) minutes. Scheduled Hours of Play Start Time Break End Time Max. Maximum of 6 balls per over (including No Balls and Wides) As per CA Youth Pace Bowling Guidelines: U/11 s Two (2) Overs Maximum Each Spell U/12 s Four (4) Overs Maximum Each Spell All players are to bowl (e.g. 3 players x 4 overs, 2 players x 3 overs, 2 players x 1 over (WK)) Coaches should rotate the opportunity for players to bowl 4 overs each week Each Wicket-Keeper is to bowl at least one (1) over each In the interests of time, all overs are to be bowled from one end. Fielding Wicket-Keepers Two (2) players are to wicket-keep for ten (10) overs each. Wicket-Keepers must wear a helmet when keeping within ten (10) metres from the batter. Rotation of Fielders is recommended to ensure all players experience all fielding positions. Fielding Restrictions No fielders are to be within fifteen (15) metres of the batter (excluding the Wicket-Keeper and slip fielders). 7

Hurricanes Junior League Category Two Dismissals Unlimited dismissals. Each player will face the nominated number of balls each (ie 17 balls for 7 players in a team). For each wicket lost, four (4) runs shall be added to the opposition at the end of the innings Umpiring & Scoring Extras - Wides and No-Balls are one (1) run plus runs scored off them (off the bat) and all extras shall be credited to the batter on strike. LBW - There is no LBW in the HJL Category Two competition. No Balls - A ball pitching off the synthetic surface is a no-ball. Batters can hit this ball and fielders must not attempt to gather the ball prior to the batter attempting to hit it. Normal front foot no-ball rules apply after one warning. A ball passing on the full above waist height and short pitched deliveries passing above shoulder height shall be called no-ball. Minimum Players & Impact The optimum team size is 7 players; however, it is understood that teams often contain additional players in community setting to cater for kids being away, ill or with clashes in commitments Minimum 5 players per team required to play the game. Maximum 9 players allocated to a team (only 7 on field). The number of players impact the players opportunity in the game, for example; 5 player team 5 players bowl 4 overs; batting retirement 24 balls 6 player team 2 players bowl 4 overs; 4 players bowl 3 overs, batting retirement 20 balls 7 player team 3 players x 4 overs, 2 players x 3 overs, 2 players x 1 over (WK), batting retirement 17 balls. 8 player team - 6 players x 3 overs, 2 players x 1 overs (WK), batting retirement 15 balls 9 player team - 4 players x 3 overs, 3 players x 2 overs, 2 players x 1 overs (WK), batting retirement 13 balls Match Result The result will be determined by the team who scores the most runs. Remember - For each wicket lost, four (4) runs shall be added to the opposition at the end of the innings. Although we do not have points or ladders in the HPL Category Two competition, we require all match results and player scores from the Category Two competition entered in MyCricket. Hurricanes Junior League Category One Summary of Rules Hours of Play Wednesday Evenings from 5:30pm 7:30pm. Age Eligibility Players must be Under 12 as at 31 st August 2017. Protective Helmet (including Wicket-Keeper when keeping up to stumps). Equipment Pads, Gloves & Protector. Ball Kookaburra Practice 142g White (supplied by CT). Boundary 45 metres maximum. Boundary is measured from the middle of the pitch. Team Nine (9) players per team (on field). Innings 20 overs per team. Pitch The wicket shall be 18 metres in length OR 17.7m (from crease line to crease line). Batting Batters are to retire after 20 balls, if they are not dismissed (this assumes some wickets will fall and therefore the ball count has been increased from a straight division of total number of balls) Retired batters can return when all others have batted, in the order they retired. Wides and No-Balls count towards balls faced. Bowling Fielding team are to change bowling ends after 10 overs All players are to bowl (including wicket-keeper) eg 1 player x 4 overs, 3 x 3 overs, 1 x 2 overs and 3 x 1 over. As per CA Youth Pace Bowling Guidelines: U/11 s Two (2) Overs Maximum Each Spell U/12 s Four (4) Overs Maximum Each Spell Maximum eight (8) balls per over except for the last over where six (6) legal deliveries must be bowled Fielding Rotation of fielders in a clockwise direction (recommended) Wicket-Keepers are to change after ten (10) overs. No fielders within ten (10) metres of the batter (except for regulation off side slips, gully and wicket keeper) to encourage singles. Dismissals All dismissals. LBW - There is no LBW unless the batter does not play a shot. A warning is to be given in the first instance. 10

Hurricanes Junior League Category One Description The Hurricanes Junior League Category One competition is Stage Two (T20) of Cricket Australia s Junior Formats. It is a format that looks to further develop the cricket skills of kids that are playing their second or third year of junior cricket. The emphasis here is on continuous and active participation, where all players get to bat, bowl and field in a 2-hour window. Skill Objectives Equipment is appropriate and suitable for height and ability Hit moving ball on 2 sides of field with horizontal and vertical bat shots Judge where and when runs can be scored Bowl over 18m with straight arm and within batter s reach Catch and throw > 30m Encourage bowlers to set their own field with use of outfielders and infielders Can communicate with team mates and officials Demonstrate respect for others and an understanding of team dynamics Contribute to and influence the outcome of the game Can identify and participate in cricket related fitness activities With guidance develop their own objectives for the season and communicate with team Motivates themselves and others at training and game day Develop an understanding of adequate amounts of fluid before/during/after the game Demonstrates focus at training and on game day Approaches training with a positive attitude, desire to learn and contribute to the team Listens and responds to feedback at training General Rules Age Eligibility - Players must be Under 12 as at 31 st August 2017. The break between innings should be no more than five (5) minutes. Overs shall not exceed eight (8) balls, including the re-bowling of no balls and wides. The wicket shall be 18 metres in length OR 17.7m (from crease line to crease line). Maximum length of the boundary shall be 45 metres maximum from the batters end stumps Scheduled Hours of Play Start Time Break End Time Max. Overs Per Innings 5:30pm 6:30pm 6:35pm 7:35pm 20 Overs Batting Rules In the HJL Category One Competition, teams are to bat in regular batting order. If a player is given out, they are dismissed and replaced by the next batter in line. Batters are to retire after 20 balls, regardless of how many runs are scored. A batter may resume their innings at the end of the team s innings in order of retirement (if overs permit). No Balls and Wides count towards balls faced (regardless if they are not scored off) 12

Hurricanes Junior League Under 13 Competition Summary of Rules Hours of Play Sunday mornings from 9:00am 12:00pm. Age Eligibility Players must be Under 13 as at 31 st August 2017. It is a format that looks to further develop the cricket skills of kids that are playing their second or third year of junior cricket. The emphasis here is on continuous and active participation, where all players get to bat, bowl and field in a 2-hour window. In this instance, Cricket Tasmania will advise clubs if grounds have been closed Matches are not permitted to be played if a local council or club which manages the ground has closed the ground, or in the event both umpires deem playing conditions unsafe during the scheduled match time. 32

Hurricanes Junior League Under 17 Competition Wides & No-Balls Wides and No-Balls are one (1) run plus runs scored off them. Any ball that pitches off the synthetic surface shall be called a no-ball and batters can hit this ball. Fielders must not attempt to gather the ball prior to the batter attempting to hit it. Umpire Rulings Normal LBW rules apply. Reminder for an LBW decision to be adjudicated as out, the umpire must be 100% convinced that the ball pitched and hit the batter in line with the wickets, the ball is going to hit the wickets and the ball did not hit the bat prior to hitting the pad. Wicket-Keepers must wear a helmet when keeping within 10 metres from the batter. A bat-pad fielder is allowed, but it is compulsory to wear a helmet and a protector (box). The umpire must not allow play to commence until the fielder is wearing a helmet and protector and is positioned no closer than 10 metres from the batter. The interpretation of these rules shall be the responsibility of the umpires, in conjunction with the coaches of the teams. All umpire s decisions are final. Rain Affected Matches Should weather or other factors delay the start of a match by more than 30 minutes; the maximum number of overs shall be reduced using the following method: The time remaining for the match, less a 10-minute change of innings, shall be divided by 3.5 minutes for the number of overs left in the match. This number shall be rounded up and divided by two. This shall be the number of overs for each team. Rain Affected Matches Example Play cannot commence until 2.05pm (based on a 12:30pm start). Time left in match is 3 hours and 55 minutes. Total 235 minutes less 10 minutes change of innings = 225 minutes, divided by 3.5 minutes per over = 64.286 divided by two = 32.14 overs each, rounded up to 33 overs per team. The minimum number of overs to constitute a match shall be 20 overs per side for a rostered 40 over match and 10 overs per side for a Twenty20 match. Match Result The result will be determined by the team scoring the most runs. 34

Hurricanes Junior League - Under 14 Girls Competition Summary of Rules Hours of Play Tuesday Evenings from 5:30pm 7:30pm. Age Eligibility Players must be Under 14 as at 31 st August 2017. Protective Helmet (including Wicket-Keeper when keeping up to stumps). Equipment Pads, Gloves & Protector. Ball Kookaburra Rookie 135g (Red) (supplied by CT). Boundary 40 metres maximum. Boundary is measured from the batters end stumps. Team Seven (7) players per team (on field). Maximum nine (9) players allocated to a team Innings 20 overs per team. Pitch The wicket shall be 16 metres in length (from wicket to wicket). Batting Batters are to retire after 17 balls (based on 7 players in a team) If there is an extra bowl to be bowled, the batter facing at the time will face the extra delivery (i.e 17 balls x 7 players = 119 balls) All balls regardless of wides/no balls will be included in the batters ball count Batters are to swap ends following a dismissal. If there is a run out, the not out batter should face the next delivery. Bowling All players are to bowl (including the wicket-keeper) eg 6 players x 3 overs & 1 player x 2 overs. Maximum six (6) balls per over. Hurricanes Junior League - Under 14 Girls Competition Description The Hurricanes Under 14 Girls competition is Stage One of Cricket Australia s Junior Formats. This format is designed for those kids who have completed the MILO T20 Blast program and are ready for their first taste of junior club competition. Designed to stimulate action and test game sense and skills whether batting, bowling or fielding. Skill Objectives Hit moving ball on two sides of the field. Run between wickets with judgement and calling. Bowl over 16 metres with a straight arm and within the batter s reach. Participants can catch and throw >20metres. Can perform tasks when asked at training and during the game Basic self-awareness and respect for others Participates in all activities at training Eats before a training/game and brings drink bottle to training and on game days Engages positively at training and on game day Wears appropriate clothing and footwear to training General Rules Age Eligibility - Players must be Under 14 as at 31 st August 2017. Hours of Play - Tuesday Evenings from 5:30pm 7:30pm Number of Players - Teams shall consist of seven (7) players on the field at one time, with nine (9) players maximum to a team. If the team numbers are not even, coaches may mix players with the opposition to ensure an even contest, without exceeding seven (7) fielders on the ground at any one time (see page 8 for minimum players and impact). Balls - Kookaburra Rookie 135g (Red) Balls are to be used (Cricket Tasmania Supplied) Scoring and Entry of Match Results in MyCricket Teams have the option to either: Score with the MyCricket Live Score App (Apple or Android) which is applicable to Hurricanes Girls Under 14 Rules and Regulations, with the match automatically uploaded to MyCricket when you enter an internet connection or; Use Cricket Tasmania supplied scoresheets and match results (and player scores) can be entered in MyCricket following the conclusion of the match Protective Equipment - Batters and Wicket-Keepers are required to use full protective equipment including; helmets with full face protection, protectors, pads etc (thigh pads are optional). The umpires shall not allow play to commence until both batters are wearing protective equipment. Inclement Weather - If conditions are inclement, coaches are to use their discretion to achieve an even/fair match. 37

Hurricanes Junior League - Under 14 Girls Competition Match Each innings shall consist of a maximum of 20 six-ball overs. A maximum of six (6) ball overs is to be applied. Note bowlers DO NOT re-bowl wides and no balls. The wicket shall be 16 metres in length (from wicket to wicket). Maximum length of the boundary shall be 40 metres from the batters end stumps The break between innings should be no more than five (5) minutes. Batting Rules Batters are to retire after 17 balls, regardless of how many runs scored and times dismissed All balls (including of wides/no balls) will be included in the batter s ball count Batters are to swap ends following a dismissal. If there is a run out, the not out batter should face the next delivery. Bowling Rules All players are to bowl (including wicket-keeper). Maximum of 6 balls per over (regardless of No Balls and Wides) All players are to bowl (e.g. 3 players x 4 overs, 2 players x 3 overs, 2 players x 1 over (WK)) Coaches should rotate the opportunity to bowl 4 overs each week Each Wicket keeper is to bowl one over each In the interests of time, all overs are to be bowled from one end. Fielding Wicket-Keepers Two (2) players are to wicket-keep ten (10) overs each. Wicket-Keepers must wear a helmet when keeping within ten (10) metres from the batter. Rotation of Fielders - Fielders are to rotate in a clockwise direction every five (5) overs. Fielding Restrictions No fielders are to be within ten (10) metres of the batter (excluding the wicket-keeper, slip fielders and the gully). Umpiring & Scoring Extras - Wides and No-Balls are one (1) run plus runs scored off them and all extras shall be credited to the batter on strike. LBW - There is no LBW in the Hurricanes Under 14 Girls Competition. No Balls - A ball pitching off the synthetic surface is a no-ball. Batters can hit this ball and fielders must not attempt to gather the ball prior to the batter attempting to hit it. Normal front foot no-ball rules apply after one warning. A ball passing on the full above waist height and short pitched deliveries passing above shoulder height shall be called no-ball. 38

The number of players impact the players opportunity in the game, for example; 5 player team 5 players bowl 4 overs; batting retirement 24 balls 6 player team 2 players bowl 4 overs; 4 players bowl 3 overs, batting retirement 20 balls 7 player team 3 players x 4 overs, 2 players x 3 overs, 2 players x 1 over (WK), batting retirement 17 balls. 8 player team - 6 players x 3 overs, 2 players x 1 overs (WK), batting retirement 15 balls 9 player team - 4 players x 3 overs, 3 players x 2 overs, 2 players x 1 overs (WK), batting retirement 13 balls Match Result The result will be determined by the team who scores the most runs. Remember - For each wicket lost, four (4) runs shall be added to the opposition at the end of the innings. Although we do not have points or ladders in the Hurricanes Girls Under 14 competition, we do require all match results and player scores from the season entered in MyCricket.
