Training modules for Martial Arts Chaplains also available! Koinonia is the annual national conference of the Christian Black Belt Association and Shiho Karano Kai International. It has become a gathering place for martial artists and their families from across the country since its humble beginnings 29 years ago. The Christian Black Belt Association was founded in 1970 to provide mentoring, support, and training to assist Christian instructors in ministry. The Shiho Karano Kai International was founded in 1982 to meet the need of those martial artists seeking fellowship and training but who did not wish to be a part of the CBBA. Attendees are able to participate in eight (8) seminars during the weekend. Koinonia also includes daily worship led by Conference Pastor, Fran Pultro from King s Highway Calvary Chapel as well as activities for the non-martial artist in the family including a Ladies Tea for wives, mothers and daughters of martial artists. Participants have their choice of accommodations from lodge to cabin style housing. The food is terrific and the training atmosphere is uplifting and inspiring. Facilities KOINONIA 2018 April 27-29, 2018 Annual National Conference of the Christian Black Belt Association & Shiho Karano Kai International CONFERENCE INFORMATION Please join us as we celebrate our 29 th Annual Conference at beautiful Hidden Falls Camp located in Bedford, Indiana. Individuals are encouraged to consult the Hidden Falls Camp website www.hiddenfalls.salvationarmyindiana.org for pictures of the accommodations and floor plans. Also, please understand that housing is assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis and can only be reserved with a monetary deposit. The earlier you pre-register, the better your chances for obtaining the housing you want. The Cy & Mary Edwards Ober Lodge (referred to as Ober Lodge for short) is an ideal setting for small group retreats. The Lodge houses 24 individuals in 12 double rooms with centrally located restroom/ shower facilities. Ober Lodge is divided into two wings connected by a common lounge complete with fireplace, piano, and several conversation groupings. This is a perfect area for fellowship. Pillows and linens are not provided. Highcrest Village is comprised of 3 cabins capable of housing up to 24 individuals each. The Forest Village provides dormitory style housing with centrally located restroom and shower facilities. Each cabin can house up to five people in each large room plus two in each of the smaller rooms for a total of 24. Pillows and linens are not provided. The cost of housing also includes 5 meals (Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast) provided in the dining hall. Off-Grounds. Some individuals may choose to stay off grounds while still participating in all or some of the weekend. The cost for Off-Ground individuals covers the price of each seminar as well as 5 meals provided in the dining hall. Check-In & Check-out Check-in will occur in Ober Lodge from 4:00 5:30pm on Friday and 9:00-10:00am on Saturday. Conference begins at 5:30PM on Friday with dinner and ends at 1:15PM on Sunday with our final seminar. In consideration of being allowed to participate in martial arts activities at said location, the undersigned does hereby release and discharge the KOINONIA 2018 MARTIAL ARTS CONFERENCE, CHRISTIAN BLACK BELT ASSOCIATION, and SHIHO KARANO KAI INTERNATIONAL, and all their black belt instructors and/or employees from any and all claims for damages for personal injury, death, or property damage which I may have, or which may subsequently accrue to me as a result of my participation in said martial arts activities, and I do hereby promise to use all prudent safety precautions while participating in said martial arts activities.
