Mark Reyes (3-8, 5.70) is slated to start on the mound for the Giants today. Visalia has won the first three games of the series earning victories of 4-3 on Thursday, 4-3 on Friday and 8-2 yesterday. Avoiding The Sweep The Giants need a victory this afternoon to avoid getting swept in a series for the second time this season. San Jose was previously swept in a four-game series by the visiting Inland Empire 66ers from May 12-15. First Half Finale The Giants are currently 30-39 overall with one game remaining in the first half. San Jose will finish the half in fourth place in the four-team North Division. It marks the first time since the 2003 season that the Giants will finish in last place in the first half North Division standings. Grant Heyman had two doubles and drove in three runs to lead the Visalia offensive attack as the Rawhide earned their third straight victory over San Jose to open the series. Visalia starting pitcher Justin Donatella picked-up the win after tossing 5 2/3 innings with two runs allowed and four strikeouts. Jonah Arenado (2-for-4, 2 RBI) drove home both Giants runs with a pair of RBI singles to lead the way at the plate in defeat. Ryan Howard (3-for-5) added three singles. San Jose starter Conner Menez was tagged for a career-high seven runs (all earned) on five hits over 3 1/3 innings. He walked four and struck out three. Six Giants Named California League All-Stars Six San Jose Giants catcher Aramis Garcia, shortstop Ryan Howard, outfielder Brian Reynolds and pitchers Mike Connolly, Ryan Halstead and Conner Menez have been named California League All-Stars. Garcia and Reynolds will serve as starters for the North Division team while Halstead will not participate in the game after his promotion to Double-A Richmond on June 1. The California League All-Star Game (North Division vs. South Division) will be played on Tuesday, June 20 at Visalia s Recreation Park. Home Vs. Road The Giants are a league-worst 10-24 at home this season and have won just two series at Municipal Stadium for the entire year. By comparison, San Jose boasts a 20-15 road record this season. The Giants are 4-14 in their last 18 home games overall. San Jose hits just.240 as a team and scores 3.6 runs per game at home compared to a.271 batting average and 5.7 runs per game on the road. The Giants have scored three runs or fewer in 21 out of their 34 home games this season. On The Mound Yesterday s 8-2 loss snapped San Jose s streak of allowing four runs or fewer at 12 consecutive games.
