A warm welcome to Trent Park Golf Club I am honoured to serve as Captain of Trent Park Golf Club. And with so much on, this season is going to be fantastic. For competitive golfers of all standards, Trent Park Golf Club offers everything. This year, members can enter at least 4 competitions a week, every week of the season. And that includes 8 major weekend competitions where we normally attract over 80 competitors, and offer some amazing prizes to boot. All members also get a CONGU handicap that is updated weekly and all your competition scores are loaded onto the web site each week. As captain, it is difficult to meet all our members. So, to counter that, we are making every Monday night a Club night. This is where we can meet and discuss any issues and help arrange matches if you are new to the club. I look forward to meeting you and wish all an enjoyable and good golfing season. Dave Berkoff Captain

Then submit these cards/handicap certificate either in to the Handicap Committee on a Monday night from 6-8pm, or post your 3 cards into the card box situated in the club house. 5. The Club Competitions - Basic Rules Stroke play Competitions In stroke play competitions the player is competing against the entire field and must hole out for a score to be recorded for that hole. The two basic types of stroke play competition are Medal and Stableford. In Medal competitions players must record a score for every hole and the total for all 18 holes is the player s gross score for the round. The player s net score is determined by subtracting the player s handicap from their gross score. In Stableford competitions the player s score for each hole is converted into points according to the following scheme: hole played in points more than one over net par or no score returned 0 one over net par 1 net par 2 one under net par 3 two under net par 4 three under net par 5 four under net par 6

In order to determine a player s net score, their handicap is distributed shot by shot over the 18 holes according to the stroke indices of the individual holes. A player of handicap 1 will receive a shot only on the stroke index 1 hole, a player of handicap 2 will receive shots on stroke index 1 and 2 and so on. A player who can no longer score any points on an individual hole does not need to hole out and may instead pick up their ball. Matchplay Competitions The Formats: Singles each side comprises of individual players. 4 Ball Better Ball (4BBB) each side comprises of two players each of whom plays their own ball. Greensomes an alternate shot competition with each side comprising of two players. On each hole both players hit tee shots, the players then select one of those tee shots and thereafter play alternate shots until the completion of the hole. In match play competitions one side plays against another over the course of 18 holes. The game is played by holes with the player taking the fewest shots on a hole winning the hole. The winner of a match is the side that is more holes ahead than there are holes left to play. For the side receiving handicap shots, those shots are allocated on the basis of the stoke indices of the individual holes. The first handicap shot is received on the stroke index 1 hole, the second handicap shot on the stroke index 2 hole and so on until all of a players handicap shots have been allocated. In the case of matches which have been suspended and remain unfinished as at the close of the round, or in the case of a final the close of competition, then the current status of the match will be taken as the result of the match. This applies to all matches including finals. If the competition committee decide to run a qualifying competition for a match play knock-out competition then additional conditions of competition will normally be published on the club notice board at least 8 weeks prior.

6. The Club Competitions Medal - Medal competitions are usually run on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month.
