Please help us keep the course in the best playable condition. Follow established guidelines regarding keeping carts in appropriate areas as much as possible. Over the next couple of months Trevor and his team will be working hard to repair damages that occurred during the dormant months. My request to you, the membership, is to observe course policies. We can t control Mother Nature, but we can control our own actions to limit the damage of hers. I want to thank all of our membership for their support and remind our membership that you are our best asset; you are our chief marketing tool. Your referrals are the lifeblood of our membership drive and the club still needs your support. Our spring membership drive continues to offer low dues to new members while reducing dues to our referring members to just $199. Please help us get the word out and share the great family experience that Cross Creek has to offer. In closing, I want to congratulate our newest employee of the month, Tena Cochran. Tena has been an asset to our team since she joined the staff 2 years ago. Tena has always carried herself with a great attitude, a diligent work ethic, and a smile on her face. During a recent interview she said, I loved serving people the first day and to this day I still do. At sixteen, while attending North Surry High School, Judy worked at Ray s Starlight as a bus girl cleaning and setting tables. One day her trainer, Mrs. Beamer, said, Judy, you are a natural waitress; we are promoting you today. In 1979, she joined the Cross Creek Country staff and loves her career and company. Judy s daughters Magen and Marie, are perpetual supporters and vital in all regards. In portraying and sharing the endearing care of Judy s service, we always look forward to her meticulous attention to making us feel special, remembering how we like things, and the personal touch that is vintage Judy. Her phenomenal memory prompts her to automatically bring wife Charlotte a cup of freshly brewed coffee immediately after seating and for me it s unsweetened iced tea. Her next trip to the table includes a basket of fresh yeast rolls and butter. Timing is a vital skill as she knows exactly when to ask Are you ready to order or do you need a few more minutes? She then describes a few wellchosen menu entrees unconditionally recommended. When I m there with an unfamiliar guest she extends the menu study time to accommodate the new guest. 3 May Events Kentucky Derby Pool May 2 Mother s Day May 13 Preakness Stakes Pool May 16 Memorial Day Cook Out by the Pool May 28 All phases of her duties are virtually without notice or fanfare. She returns twice to refill our drinks while are entrees are being prepared. She ll timely return to ask How are your meals? and will return toward the end to suggest a seven-item dessert menu by memory. Judy always remembers her clients preferred table and with reservations we always get our favorite seat. Her last visit is a heartfelt Thank you for joining us you honor us by being here. I joined Cross Creek in 1974 and paramount to its success is the servant s heart of our wonderful Judy. One can hardly imagine the countless people blessed by Judy Atkinson s presence. The most incredible service quotient is the effortless way she manages to bring us total satisfaction at every visit. Her professionalism is marked by an ever-present smile, neat dress, and constant acts of kindness, memory of our names and likes, and the desire to bring happiness to every guest. Judy says, I ve been blessed by many dear helpers who ve added to our success. The synergy that comes from our complementing skills is pure magic. Several selfless contributors are Vicki Snow, Sherry Gordon, and Terry Strickland who live to honor others before self. Frances Gravely was an integral part of the team prior to her passing in 2016. Teamwork contributes to phenomenal service. Before each evening meal, the team gathers to share the

Their perfectly choreographed presentation skills allow their team to serve 400 guests in a mere twenty minutes. Each Tuesday at noon the Mount Airy Rotary luncheon is held at Cross Creek and the wait staff is always on top of their game to consistently provide outstanding customer service in a timely fashion. The Surry Community College Foundation s Annual Golf Tournament has been held at Cross Creek each May for the past 21 years. The late Bobby Harold repeatedly shared his appreciation for the role Judy s team plays in making tournament guests feel welcome and appreciated. For thirty-eight years, knowing Judy has been a precious gift. Judy says, I ve been here long enough that many of my customers who were once in high chairs are now brides and grooms. I m proud to be part of a seasoned team of veterans who treat everyone with respect and dignity and who are confident in our ability to provide incomparable personal service and attention to detail for any event, small or large. We look forward to the opportunity to share, care, give and serve and we encourage potential patrons to choose Cross Creek Country for exceptional service and amenities for memories that last a lifetime. Maintenance With the majority of the winter season behind us we are experiencing longer days and occasional warmer 5 temperatures. The combination of Core Aerification, Topdressing sand, and Fertilize is not only key to keeping a green true and managing a healthy thatch layer, it will also help our greens to establish a healthy root system to aid us through the hot summer days that lie ahead of us. Right after aerification we will make a fertilize application that will help give our bent grass a kick-start in growth this will help us get a quick heal up from the pulled core. I hope everyone has a great transition to spring and I look forward to seeing everyone on the course! Trevor Thomas Course Superintendent Aerification We are scheduled to perform our Spring aerification of the greens on April 9-11 & Our Fall aerification is scheduled for August 27-29, weather permitting. The golf course & golf shop will be closed during this time. We understand that this is an inconvenience to golfers, but is crucial to the life and health of our greens. Hopefully the weather will corporate so the greens can heal quickly. Again, thank you for your patience throughout this process.
