PAGE 4 Stage 1 1S children have been engaging in many activities during the term. Tuesday afternoons is an opportunity to get together with 1DT for skipping. Many personal bests are being achieved through practising, as children exercise. There are some amazing skippers in 1S. In the classroom we collect fruit and vegetable scraps for the compost to help our environment. We also have wrapper free lunches on Trashless Tuesday. We know that healthy and delicious lunches don t need a plastic wrapping. Clear Minded for Life classes have given us a variety of ways to relax when feeling stressed. Our reading skills are improving with the assistance of parents and grandparents who participate in Reading Groups.

PAGE 5 Stage 1 1DT have been enjoying having lovely parent helpers during reading groups. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers. 1DT have been learning about mass during mathematics lessons. They had fun hefting different objects, estimating the weight of objects and recording their findings. We introduced a new Soundwaves spelling program this year at Belrose Public School. 1DT enjoyed the interactive whiteboard activities and games from this program.

PAGE 6 Stage 1 2IW have been doing some wonderfully descriptive writing this term based on our theme of The Daintree Rainforest. 2IW really enjoy reading and are so thrilled when we have parents come in to help us! In 2/3J, we have been learning about measurement and length. We used our hand span and our foot span to measure our partner s body length. After that we then used a tape measure and recorded our measurement in centimetres.

PAGE 7 My CARES excursion On Tuesday 13 of March Year 5 went on an excursion to CARES. At CARES you learn about bike safety, you learn to give way, turn, and use roundabouts. You have to follow the signs otherwise you would crash. The Blue group which I was in did some challenges, first we had to go in and out of cones and try to drive straight. At the end of the challenges we had a slow race. I made it to the next round. I had to verse Calean, sadly. I put my feet down. Then we had morning tea. After morning tea the blue group went into the classroom and learnt that you have to wear a helmet otherwise you could get critically injured. Then we had lunch. After lunch we went on the road and we drove around. There was 1 set of traffic lights. I got 1 demerit point for not stopping but I looked behind me and no one was there. Then we drove back on the bus. What a phenomenal day. By Georgia 5K CARES excursion BANG, CRASH, SKID! Just kidding. There was not any crashes except for after at the traffic lights. I will tell you what we did and what you might look forward to if you have not gone yet. The first thing we did was greet Sargent s Cooper and Gould. My first activity (I was in red group) was about videos on road safety and helmet importance and road injuries. Our second activity was a riding an obstacle course which was great fun! The third was we got a seven point licence and went on a mini-track. It was great, if you have not been then look forward to it. By Kade 4/5S CARES excursion CARES was so much fun and we learnt so much. Firstly 5S went in a room and we watched a few videos that mostly talked about the importance of wearing a helmet and about the road rules. The last one showed what can happen if you are not wearing a helmet. After recess we got to ride a bike and they showed us hand signals and how to give way and all the signs and what to do when you see one. After lunch we got our bikes with a fake licence with demerit points. How it works is we went on a fake mini road to show what it is like in real life when you are on a road. If you make a mistake you lose one of the seven demerit points. Sadly I did lose a demerit point but it was still SOOO much fun. Best excursion ever. By Toni 4/5S
