Consuelo purchased the land in the 1930s and her home eventually became Pine Hollow s clubhouse. The property was sold to a private group in 1955 who built a championship golf course on the surrounding land. More than 1000 trees and shrubs were transplanted to help frame the individual holes. In 1958, Pine Hollow hosted the Pepsi Open which was won by Arnold Palmer. The purse was the largest on the PGA TOUR that year.
