Safety Warnings and Precautions WARNING: When using tools, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment. Read all instructions before using this tool!. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas invite injuries.. Observe work area conditions. Do not use machines or power tools in damp or wet locations. Don t expose to rain. Keep work area well lighted. Do not use electrically powered tools in the presence of flammable gases or liquids. 3. Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the work area. Do not let them handle machines, tools, or extension cords. 4. Store idle equipment. When not in use, tools must be stored in a dry location to inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and keep out of reach of children. 5. Use the right tool for the job. Do not attempt to force a small tool or attachment to do the work of a larger industrial tool. There are certain applications for which this tool was designed. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was intended. Do not modify this tool and do not use this tool for a purpose for which it was not intended. 6. Do not overreach. 7. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry as they can be caught in moving parts. Protective, electrically nonconductive clothes and nonskid footwear are recommended when working. Wear restrictive hair covering to contain long hair. 8. Use eye and ear protection. Always wear ANSI approved impact safety goggles when using air tools. Wear a full face shield if you are producing metal filings or wood chips. Wear an ANSI approved dust mask or respirator when working around metal, wood, and chemical dusts and mists. 9. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect tool cords periodically and, if damaged, have them repaired by an authorized technician. The handles must be kept clean, dry, and free from oil and grease at all times. 0. Disconnect power. Unplug air compressor (not included) when not in use.. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Check that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from the tool or machine work surface before plugging it in.. Avoid unintentional starting. Do not carry any air tool with your finger on the trigger, whether it is plugged in or not. 3. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, use common sense. Do not operate any tool when you are tired. 4. Check for damaged parts. Before using any tool, any part that appears damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment and binding of moving parts; any broken parts or mounting fixtures; and any other condition that may affect proper operation. Any part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified technician. Do not use any air tool if its switch does not turn On and Off properly. 5. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. 6. Do not operate air tools if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels if taking prescription medicine to determine if your judgment or reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the tool. 7. Maintenance. For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed regularly by a qualified technician. 8. Before using any air tool, read and adhere to all instructions and safety warnings provided in the instruction manual of the tool being used. 9. Unpacking When unpacking, check to make sure all parts are included. Refer to the photo below, and the Parts List and Diagram located at the end of this manual. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number on the cover of this manual. Wrap pipe thread seal tape (not included) around the fitting of the Pressure Gauge (48) a couple turns.. Carefully screw in (clockwise) the Pressure Gauge (48) fitting into the Body (). Do not overtighten. Stop turning the Pressure Gauge when the scale is facing up as shown above. 3. Screw the Plug (5) into the other side of the Regulator Body (). 4. Verify that the air Filter Element (7) is in place on the Bowl Baffle (6), then place the Water Bowl (), with O-ring (5), inside the Shatter Guard (3). 5. Slide the Guard Ring (4) over the Shatter Guard (3) and place into the Regulator Body (). Securely tighten the Guard Ring (4) by turning clockwise. 6. Place the Oiler Bowl (3), with O-ring (5), into the Shatter Guard (3). 7. Slide the Guard Ring (4) over the Shatter Guard (3) and place into the Oiler Body (30). Securely tighten the Guard Ring (4) by turning clockwise. 8. Secure the unit assembly by the Mounting Bracket (44) to a flat surface using appropriate hardware (not supplied). 9. Remove the Oil Fill Screw (37) on top of the Oiler Body (30) and add air tool oil to the maximum level. Replace Oil Fill Screw. Air Connections Caution: Avoid injuries. Before connecting this unit to the air compressor, be certain that the air compressor is unplugged from the power source, and all pressure is released from its tank. The illustration below shows the general connection for the Air Filter-Regulator and Lubricator.. Wrap pipe thread seal tape around both ends of a double-sided connector (not supplied), and screw into the air inlet of the Regulator Body (). Securely tighten.. Wrap pipe thread seal tape around both ends of a double-sided connector (not supplied), and screw into the air outlet of the Oiler Body (30). Securely tighten. 3. Connect the compressor air output hose or pipe to the air inlet connector (not supplied) on the Regulator Body (). Quick connectors and couplings (not supplied) may be used for convenience. Use pipe thread seal tape in all connections. 4. Connect the air output hose to the air outlet connector (not supplied) on the Oiler Body (30). Operation. Turn on the Compressor and check for air leaks. If any are found, turn the Compressor off, drain air from tank, and fix the leak before use.. With the Compressor ON, gently pull up and turn the Regulator Knob (6) to adjust the air pressure as read on the Gauge (48). Gently press the Regulator Knob down to lock it. 3. Adjust the oil flow by viewing the Outer Cup (39) and adjusting the Adjusting Screw (36) next to it. Maintenance. Check oil level in Oil Bowl (3) daily.. Periodically disassemble the Air Filter and Lubricator assemblies and remove all dirt and debris. Remove air pressure before cleaning. 3. The Water Valve Piston (6) should automatically drain the water from the water bowl when the system is no longer under pressure. If it fails to open on its own, press it in to expel any accumulated moisture from the Air Filter. Do this daily.
