Tulsa, OK April 2017 Founded 1980 Inside this issue From the president s desk Just Around The Bend 2 Greetings to all current and future GCCM Club members! Meeting Minutes 3-4 Pace Car Schedule 6 Club Sponsors Birthdays and Anniversaries 9-13 Birthdays April 2-Franca Jackson & Micha Parsons April 10-Corky Bradford April 12-Fowler Jacobs April 16-Jamie Jackson April 19-Arnold Newman April 20-Janice McGhee April 23-Jaden Graham April 25-Beth Henson Anniversaries April 18-Jerry & Cherie Bergeron April 26-Roger & Elaine Bymun April 30-Ron & Millie Ramsey Coming up with an exciting newsletter each month is not always easy, but fortunately spring is around the corner and we're getting busy. We're all looking forward to pleasant weather for cruises and shows. By publication, I believe we will have had a good showing at the Knights for Autism Show and Shine at Bishop Kelley, a worthy cause. On April 7-9, members will represent the Club at the 100th Anniversary Tulsa Auto Show. They plan to recreate a small area as the 1917 show. I wish we could display the whole club but space is limited. We will try to represent examples of the evolution of the Mustang. Fortunately, we have a diverse group of very nice cars of different generations. I know Troy Rushing will want to discuss an opportunity for us to go the Furious 8 debut at the Admiral Twin Drive-In on April 15th. People looking for project parts can find them at the Early Ford V-8 Club annual Swap Meet at the Creek County Fairgrounds on April 21-22. Club members can attend the Eufaula Ok Heritage Days Show will be on April 22nd in Eufaula. On a personal note, we've had members with injuries and health issues. Scott Cool has been recovering from a massive stroke that occurred last year. I visited him at home recently and he is doing well. Jim Liner now is driving his black 5.0 (plus) with new racing wheels following 5 months of hip injuries. Cherie's broken wrist is healing from her nature hike. It was good to see Mary Brawley with John at Ron's Hamburgers. She had been receiving treatments in Houston. Our prayers for all of them. Hope to see all members at the upcoming club events. Respectfully, Roger Bymun GCCM President

Green Country Classic Mustangs General Meeting March 7, 2017 Speedy's 57 in attendance Robert & Cathy Sloan-15 Red Conv Steve Pooler -07 GT (new member) Kevin Keith -03 GT Magnetic Grey Treasure Report- Mary Secretary Report- Cary Minutes accepted. Round-up Troy provided more information about the Round-Up. He said we are on calendar for Sept. 23, 2017. Roger is checking with Debra to verify date. There is also a chalk art event on Sept. 16, 2017, that we may be able to jump into if 23rd doesn t work. Gatesway is no longer an option because they lost the venue. There is no estimated time when a new location will be available. We are checking to see what we would need to do to put on the show on our own. T-shirt contest Entries are due at May meeting. Arnold s Car Show The car show doubled attendance from last year s show. There were 102 cars last year, and more than 200 this year. Restaurant officials are thinking about charging $10 registration next year. Frank Arnold said he only made $100 over what they would have made with the restaurant open all day without the show. He did have new sod installed in the empty lot where the cars were parked. Arnold also said next year, he will have employees there at 7 to get cars parked early. Pony Cruise There was a cruise last weekend to Muskogee. Guest Speaker Bill, Adam s Polishes, a premium line of car care products. He normally has a $500-$1,000 buy-in case requirement. Bill will have no buy-in and no case requirements, but members cannot access the discount through the Adam s Web site. He would need an agreement signed by the club, and we would need to abide by the terms, i.e. no selling them on ebay or other similar Web sites. He usually attends Tuesday night cruises, and club members would be able to get the 20 percent discount there as well. Bill said he plans to do a tech session. We will decide what to do at the next board meeting. Last year s calendars now are going to be sold for $1. Old t-shirts now are $5. Mel Sr. has some large and extra large T-shirts available. At the April general meeting, we will be drawing names for next year s calendar. Remember, if your car was in the calendar this year, you will not be able to be in calendar next year. There will also be a dinner cruise to Ron s in Jenks on March 20. Meet at restaurant at 6pm. MCA news MCA information has been turned in and received.

Track news Jerry- no report George- 4/9-10 Topeka track, 120 cars all classes Miscellaneous announcements John Brawley is in Houston with Mary. No word yet. $10 for dinner--- Unknown (Please let us know if you were the winner.) 50/50: $78.50--- Unknown (Please let us know if you were the winner.) Green Country Classic Mustangs Board Meeting March 28, 2017 Speedy's Car Show It still is undecided where to have the club car show. No location has been secured because of a variety of factors. In Broken Arrow, if Yvonne gets elected to the City Council on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, she will no longer be able to schedule events on city property. A member of her staff could do this, however. A decision about dates also would have to be made because the city already has a Chalk art event for Sept. 16. Another option would be to combine our show with Grills and Wheels. Roger will try to find out more details from the city. He said more information should be available in April. Steve Young said the Marriott will not rent out their parking lot without 100 room reservation. He also has not received information back from River Spirit Casino. He said his initial contact person left, but it was discussed to use their south parking lot. Free meal tickets for the casino also would be included. Casino officials were interested in Sept. 16. No word on making any commitment to schedule the show at either site. John Hemby said we need to set a deadline for a location so information can be published on our Web site and other social media outlets. T-shirts and other items also could be ordered. Tulsa Auto Show Roger has the show set-up. Show representatives only gave our club 120 liner feet. This allows for 12 cars. An e-mail was sent out to all members notifying them of who can participate. Roger said he chose members with cars that represent a multi-generation of the Mustang. Sponsorships Steve Young confirmed that O Reilly s is renewing their sponsorship for Best of Show. The club does not do show and shines for show sponsors. Adam s Contract Board members unanimously approved to sign a contract with the Adam s distributor. John Hemby made the motion to vote. Club members would receive a discount on the detail car products. The club would not be accountable to meet a minimum and it is not a binding contract. You have to go through the distributor representative for the discount. Club Calendars Drawing Members will be randomly selected through a drawing for the calendar. The drawing will happen Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the general meeting. Mustang Club License Plate John Hemby has contacted officials to create a Mustang Club license plate to replace the new Oklahoma tags. More information will be available in the future. Dinner Cruise Members need to meet at the QuikTrip at I-44 and 193 rd on April 27. People can arrive starting at 5:30 p.m. and will leave to go to the restaurant at 6 p.m. Restaurant will be announced at a later date.
