TROY BRODBECK AINSWORTH HIGH SCHOOL BOY'S BASKETBALL ASSISTANT COACH Troy Brodbeck enters his 2nd season as an assistant coach with the Ainsworth Bulldogs. Coach Brodbeck is an Ainsworth High School Alumni, Class of 2005. While attending Ainsworth High School, Troy was a 3-year letter winner in Basketball, 3-years in Track & Field, 2-years in Football, and 1-year in Cross Country. In his Junior and Senior seasons, he was voted Nebraska All-State honorable mention in basketball. Prior to the assistant coaching position, Troy coached the Junior High Boys Basketball program for 2 seasons. Coach Brodbeck helped start the Ainsworth Youth Basketball program in 2008, which is now part of Ainsworth Youth Sports. He has also coached numerous levels of baseball throughout the summers. The 10 years of coaching experience he brings to the court is an asset to Bulldog Basketball. Coach Sterkel thoughts on Coach Brodbeck: Troy brings a WEALTH of knowledge to this upcoming season. He is familiar with the conference, opponents, and the landscape of NSAA State Championship Basketball. Troy had the luxury of coaching under two of the greatest in the state in former Head Coach Brian Delimont & Harlan Welch.
Nicholas Martin Ainsworth High School Boy s Basketball Assistant Coach Nicholas Martin graduated from Ainsworth Community Schools in 2013. Accepting a basketball scholarship went on to Midland University located in Fremont, NE. Nicholas played 3 years for the Warriors at Midland where they made the national tournament his first two years and received runner-up of the national tournament his sophomore year. Nicholas was named a 2016 Scholar Athlete his junior year. He graduated with honors in only three years at Midland University being on the Dean s list every semester. Nick graduated from Midland with a Bachelor in Arts in which he majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Coaching. While at Ainsworth H.S. Nick was a four-time letter winner in basketball and a three time letter winner in Cross Country. Coach Martin was a part of the 2009, 2010, and 2012 State Championship Runner-up teams in Cross Country. Coach Sterkel on Coach Martin: First and foremost Nick is a GREAT person. In our program WE only want those that are willing to put the TEAM first. Nick is a testament to hard work and getting things done. He finished his Bachelor s at Midland University in three years and is in operations back on the family ranch. He is an individual of high character who WE are excited to have in our FAMILY! Coach Martin will help us immediately at individual skill development and play a vital role in our ability to defend in the full-court.
Marcus Fairhead Ainsworth High School Boy s Basketball Assistant Coach (Volunteer) Marcus Fairhead graduated from Gordon-Rushville High School in 2012. He went on to study at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he graduated this past spring with Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree majoring in Business Finance and minoring in Agriculture Economics. a While at Gordon-Rushville Marcus was a three-time letter winner in basketball. In 2011 he received the Mr. Basketball award, voted by his teammates and coaches for most valuable player. Also in 2011 he was nominated All-State Honorable Mention. In 2012 Marcus was named the Outstanding Senior, again voted by his teammates and coaches. He also set and holds the record for most rebounds in a season at Gordon-Rushville. In 2012 after his senior season, he was elected to play on the Panhandle Prep All-Star game in Scottsbluff. After graduating from UNL in May, Marcus accepted a loan officer position at West Plains Bank in Ainsworth. I m excited to be in this community. It s an honor to be a part of such a successful program. Being able to help these young men achieve their goals will be a very gratifying experience. Coach Sterkel on Marcus: Ainsworth Basketball is EXCITED to have Marcus on board! Marcus will teach our younger post players and wing players how to ATTACK the glass on both the offensive and defensive end of the floor. It will be great to have another quality individual join our program. WE are excited to welcome Coach Fairhead and his girlfriend Reagan Fernau to the program, it is more than basketball, it is FAMILY!
