ANNUAL PERFORMANCE RECAP DATES AND TIMES Recital Photo Shoot Technical Rehearsal AT Dress Rehearsal Friday May 5 th AT NDC DO NOT ARRIVE IN COSTUME Tuesday May 30 th beginning at 4:15 SHARP Methuen Performing Arts Center MHS Thursday June 1 st beginning at 5:00 SHARP AT Methuen Performing Arts Center MHS. Students must arrive by 4:30 PM Performances Saturday June 3, 2017 Students must arrive by 1:15 PM Methuen Performing Arts Center MHS Our recital is the students time to shine and they deserve every chance to practice and perfect what they have learned. Being on the stage is very different than dancing in the studio. PLEASE LEAVE SIBLINGS HOME DURING TECH/DRESS. I anticipate that technical rehearsal will run 4-4.5 hours from beginning to end. This rehearsal will run out of sequence of the actual recital. Depending on the kinks that must be worked out it could take less or more time PLEASE BE PATIENT (younger dancers will not be at the high school the entire time please plan to be there around 1.5 hours) The technical rehearsal will run out of recital sequence please refer to schedule at the end of your packet. THE THEATER IS TO REMAIN QUIET AT ALL TIMES. PLEASE STRESS TO YOUR CHILD THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD BEHAVIOR. Dress rehearsal will run as a mock recital. I anticipate dress rehearsal to run approximately 2 hours. Students must arrive at the high school BY 4:30 THESE REHEARSALS (TUESDAY TECH AND THURSDAY DRESS) ARE MANDATORY. ABSENT STUDENTS WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN RECITAL
GENERAL PRODUCTION INFORMATION TECHNICAL/DRESS REHEARSAL DO NOT ARRIVE IN THE THEATER IN COSTUME! Technical/Dress Rehearsal is a CLOSED rehearsal. ONLY MOMS OR DADS are allowed-one parent or legal guardian should accompany your child, no siblings, friends, grandparents etc. These rehearsals are for the dancers to adjust to the stage environment-a noisy chaotic audience at dress rehearsal is very distracting and time consuming. PLEASE MOMS OR DADS ONLY. Also, we ask that parents allow us to do our jobs, extra voices telling the children what to do only creates confusion and wastes time. EVERYON IN THE AUDITORIUM IS EXPECTED TO BE QUIET. Dress rehearsal is not meant to be viewed as the performance. Students will need to remain backstage for the entire Dress Rehearsal there is absolutely no running or fooling around at the theatre or backstage. Technical Rehearsal will begin promptly at 4:15 PM. Each class will sit together in a designated area in the auditorium and wait quietly for their turn. Dress Rehearsal will begin promptly at 5:00 PM. Students must arrive by 4:30 NO FOOD OR DRINK OF ANY KIND ALLOWED IN AUDITORIUM ATTENDANCE @ DRESS REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY!! NO EXCEPTIONS. WHY? 1) The safety of the dancers- the stage environment is VERY different than the studio environment-it is larger than the studio and can be overwhelming for the children. 2) A full onstage costume experience costumes can be distracting to the students-itchy, cumbersome etc. 3) Practice changing costumes for the students with many costume changes 4) Music sounds very different on stage than in the studio 5) The backstage staff must work out all the kinks-music, lights, changes, props, etc. It is not only unsafe but also unfair to the entire class to allow a student to participate in recital who has not participated in our dress rehearsal. Sometimes choreography involves partners and group work which is confusing enough without missing people. It can be a very unpleasant experience to go onstage having never been on stage before SHOW FORMAT We expect that the show will last approximately 2-2.25 hours and will begin promptly at 2:00 PM. Latecomers will be sat at INTERMISSION-please pass this information on to family, friends. Please remember that children are not allowed in the lobby/auditorium at any time. Students must arrive by 1:15. Parents must leave the backstage area by 1:30. Students will remain backstage for the entire show. Please send something with your child to keep them occupied, cards, books, something that is quiet yet entertaining. NO MARKERS, NO ELECTRONICS!!! No one will be allowed in and out of the auditorium while the show is in progress. The students have worked so hard all year long and to have audience members constantly entering and exiting the auditorium during the show is very disheartening. The kids deserve to have a wonderful, attentive audience with no distractions.
BACKSTAGE AREA/DROP OFF-PICK UP PROCEDURE NO FOOD OF ANY KIND ALLOWED BACKSTAGE DANCERS MAY BRING WATER ONLY Children under 12: Once you have brought your child into their dressing area please leave the dressing/backstage are and take your seats.
