The Flop How to Improve your Putting Putting is one of the most important aspects of the golf game. In a round of golf, not everyone will hit a 300 yard drive, but ALL golfers will have a 5-footer. Many times someone who has issues with their putting often struggle in two areas: LINE and SPEED. The LINE of a putt is important to putting because it determines if the ball is on the correct path to go in the hole. The SPEED of a putt dictates whether or not the ball will have enough pace to get to the hole. Below are two drills that will help you with the LINE and SPEED of your putts: Drill for LINE- Go to your local hardware store and get a Chalk Line. On the putting green at your home club or local course, find a fairly straight putt. Extend the Chalk Line 10 feet from the front of the cup so that there is small chalk line that you can see on the ground. Then practice putting from about 8 feet away on that line with the chalk line on the putting green. It will help you see not only the LINE of the putt, but you will be able to see your ball roll on that line all the way to the hole. Drill for SPEED- Pick a putt that is about 20 feet long (you can use a variety of distances to help with long and short putts). With 3 golf balls, try to hit the first one about six inches short of the hole. On the second putt, try to make it in the center of the hole. With the third ball, try and have it stop about six inches past the hole. Being able to determine the slight difference in speeds on the same putt will help you develop great feel for speed on the putting green. Thank You ABCC would like to thank ValleyCrest for their generous contribution of $10,000 to support pete s turn. We value our continued partnership with them and appreciate their helping in making this dream a reality. 3

Ball Machine Basics Tips to maximize your ball machine experience. Come on out and try the ball machine. Everyone that uses it loves it. We can already see improvement from those using it. Here are a couple of things worth considering: 1. Be mindful of overtraining. An injury is not the goal! 2. Take a lesson on one shot and practice that one shot till you get it. Ask the instructor to use the ball machine during the lesson so they can be on the same side demonstrating and practicing the shot with you. 3. Go to iplaymatetv.com to see some basic recommended drills. 4. Use the ball machine as 1) a way to improve a shot where you focus mainly on technique, 2) a calorie burner where you focus a lot more on fast footwork and stamina but your shots might break down or 3) a combo of both and find that perfect balance. 5. When playing with two or more on the ball machine, set it up so the second person is using the hitters shot as a practice ball whether on the net or the baseline. Get your annual ball machine pass now! Ball machine rates- Single annual membership $120 Household annual membership (two or more users) $180 Hourly rate $20. Pat Nall and Papa Don Phillips 5
