THE VENUE Lakewoods Resort 21540 County Road M Cable, WI 54821 800 930-6657 lakewoodsresort.com For years, snowmobile enthusiasts have known Lakewoods as the place to ride. It has been voted the number one snowmobile resort in the nation six times by SnowGoer magazine and with good reason. There are more than 750 miles of groomed trails in Bayfield County alone. Sawyer County and the Hayward Lakes add another 450 miles, starting just four miles away from the resort. There are still more trails in Ashland County, only eight miles away. At Lakewoods, they take special care of the snowmobiler. They offer a full service snowmobile shop with light repairs, gas and oil, along with Arctic Cat snowmobile rentals. Important: You will need a Wisconsin trail pass. The Wisconsin trail pass may be purchased over the counter at authorized sales locations in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. Call the Wisconsin DNR at Directions to Lakewoods Resort from the Twin Cities Take 35W or 35E North (these will combine into 35 North in Forest Lake). Continue on 35 North to the Grantsburg exit (Highway 70). Take Highway 70 East (take a right at stop sign off the exit ramp). Highway 70 will take you to Siren, where there is a stop sign. Turn left at the stop sign. You are still on Highway 70. Drive about five miles, where you will take a right (follow signs). You are still on Highway 70. Take Highway 70 to Spooner. Turn left onto Highway 63 at the traffic light in Spooner. Follow Highway 63 North to Trego. (This will join with Highway 53 for a couple of miles.) Turn right on Highway 63 North in Trego. Highway 63 North will take you to Hayward. Stay on Highway 63 North through Hayward to Cable (17 miles). Turn right on County Road embark M in Cable going east (the only road in Cable). FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS May I still ride if I haven t collected the minimum ($700 for veteran riders, $500 for new riders) yet? No. New for 2011, you will not be able to participate without confirmed donations totaling your required minimum. Be prepared with cash, check or credit card to charge your remaining balance at check-in. To whom do my contributors make out checks? Make checks payable to the National MS Society. Add your name and MS Sno Rally in the memo line of any checks you receive, and mail all checks to the National MS Society, Minnesota Chapter, 200 12th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55415. Where do my donations go? The Minnesota Chapter represents more than 10,000 people with MS in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The chapter provides educational and social programs across the area for people with MS and their caregivers, families and friends. More than 75 percent of every dollar is spent on programs and support services for people affected by MS and MS-related research. My wife, friend or family member would like to attend but doesn t ride. Can this person still come? Participants are not required to ride. Your friend or family member can definitely attend and receive all the perks of being a participant. However, everyone who attends is responsible for the donation minimum and registration fee. May I change to a different rider group? Absolutely. The MS Society works to form groups of participants with similar riding styles. If you prefer to be part of a different group, simply notify staff. May I room alone at Lakewoods Resort? Due to limited space, all rooms must be occupied by at least two riders. If my snowmobile breaks down, will there be support? Yes, we have a support crew available Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you break down or have any other sled issues within a 50-mile radius of the resort, call us with your whereabouts. If you can get to an establishment, that works best. We ll pick you up and tow your sled back. Are children allowed to participate? Due to a National MS Society policy change, all riders must now be at least 12 years old and accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old or older. All riders between ages 12 and 17 must have a parent or guardian signature with notary on their waivers. How do I get invited to the Sylvies awards banquet? Raise $3,000 or more, and you ll be invited to the Minnesota Chapter s awards banquet. Named after National MS Society founder Sylvia Lawry, this event celebrates and recognizes top fundraisers, volunteers, sponsors and donors. embrace Is there high-speed internet? itinerary Thursday, Feb. 10 Register your vehicle information with the front desk and check in with event staff in the Lakewoods Resort lobby from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Introductions and a rider welcome will begin at 9 p.m. Meet with your riding group and organize your ride for the next day. If you cannot arrive Thursday, please contact Allison at 612-335-7921. We will not be hosting dinner. You may choose to dine in the Lakewoods dining room or grab a bite on the way to the resort. Friday, Feb. 11 Enjoy a hot breakfast between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. before hitting the snowy trails. Ride as far and as long as your group decides. Support Crew will be available Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Check in with MS Society staff upon your return and relax. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. Afterward, sit back and enjoy each other s company while playing bags and Hammerschlagen. Saturday, Feb. 12 Fill up on a hot breakfast between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. before another full day exploring the trails. Check in with MS Society staff when your entire group has returned. The dinner and program will begin at 7:30 p.m. After the banquet, the silent auction will close promptly at 9:30 p.m. Afterward, spend time socializing and participating in bags and Hammerschlagen competitions. Sunday, Feb. 13 Enjoy a final brunch served between 8 and 10 a.m., pack up and say goodbye. Check-out is at 11 a.m. You will receive an official 2011 MS Sno Rally T-shirt and pin at check-in.
