Mock Trial A few months ago, the Mock Trial team received an invitation to attend a workshop and scrimmage hosted by UC Berkeley as their Cal team was looking for schools who had been extremely successful in their county competitions. The Cal students worked with our team by giving us hands-on training and to test our skills against other schools from other counties. Overall, their goal is to educate high school students on how to be the best mock trial competitor they can be. We diligently sold almost 11,000 pretzels to raise the money we need for tuition, transportation, food, and lodging and soon enough on Dec. 2, we were on our way to UC Berkeley. After an exhausting 8-hour trip, some dinner, and a good night s rest we were ready to attend Saturday s trainings and lectures. We put all our new information to the test on Sunday during 2 rounds of scrimmages. Our prosecution team came out victorious during round 1 and round 2 our defense team tied with their competitor. Overall, our Mock Trial team represented the Islands well. They will not be forgetting our names anytime soon. Special thanks to all the student team members, attorney coaches, staff, and parents that helped us on our journey to get to Berkeley. Go CI Mock Trial!
