Draft Monthly Electronic Funds Transfer Draft is a payment plan that allows a member to pay for a continuous membership in equal monthly payments that are automatically deducted from one s checking or savings account for as long as one belongs to the Y. This payment plan does not lock you into a set period of time, but does require 30 days written notice for cancellation. Due to widespread credit card fraud, credit card draft is no longer available. Other Payment Plans Memberships can also be paid-in-full at time of application using cash, check, major credit and debit cards. Annual membership payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event that a member does not use his/her membership to the extent that was anticipated, no refunds or credits will be issued. CHILD WATCH HOURS Parents using the Y recreationally may use this service on a space available basis. The Y reserves the right to change hours and policies. Parents must remain on premises. Children must be 6 months or older. Torrington Mon/Wed/Fri: 8:30 am -12:00 pm Tue/Thur: 8:30 am - 1:15 pm Mon-Thur: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Sat: 9:00 am - 11:00 am AGE POLICY In all areas of the YMCA, children under 13 need to be supervised by an adult (18+) unless in a YMCA program. Must be 13 years of age and older to enter and use the Fitness Center. REFUND POLICY Membership fees may be refunded if you move from the Y s service area or due to medical reasons. Refunds are from the date of notification forward, not retroactive. Program Fees will be refunded in the event the Y cancels a class due to insufficient enrollment or facility conflict. If you wish to withdraw from a program the following will apply: 1. All refund requests must be made in writing. 2. If you notify the Y before classes begin, class fee paid less $10 service charge. 3. If you notify the Y after one class meeting, 75% refund less $10 service charge. Y LITERACY VOLUNTEERS Y Literacy Volunteers provides tutoring services at no charge to both students and tutors of Litchfield County. Services include: one-on-one or small group tutoring, ongoing training for tutors, English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), pair support and continuous collaboration with local libraries. PLANNED GIVING Many friends of the Y choose to help extend the Y s influence beyond their own lifetimes by sharing some of their personal assets. They accomplish this by making a planned gift to the Y s permanent endowment fund. The endowment fund is a powerful permanent legacy to further the work of the Y. WINCHESTER YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU The WYSB has been serving the children and families of the Winchester/Winsted area and surrounding communities for over 35 years. Currently serving over 700 children, we strive to make our area a better place for all families through programs and counseling. WYSB services include art therapy, counseling & case management, therapeutic recreation, as well as, our therapeutic day camp, Rising Star Camp. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Financial assistance for Membership and Programs is available to qualifying individuals and families. Awards are determined on a sliding scale using total household income. There are three ways to receive financial assistance: 1. Income based membership application, 2. Y Cares Membership Assurance Program (free 6 month Membership for existing members losing full-time employment) 3. Financial Assistance application. Applications are available at the membership service desk of each branch. In 2016, over $235,100 was provided to children & families in Northwest CT. Y CARES MEMBERSHIP ASSURANCE PROGRAM Y members who have had an active Y membership in good standing for the past six months and lose their full-time employment are eligible for the Y Cares Membership Assurance Program, which grants them a free membership for up to 6 months. USE ANY YMCA IN NEW ENGLAND Your membership can be used for facility use only (no programs) at any YMCA in New England at no extra charge. VISIT Y S ACROSS THE U.S. THE Y NATIONWIDE MEMBERSHIP program- Visit other Participating YMCA s throughout the country. Many participating YMCAs have no restrictions on visiting Y members, however some restrictions may include a visit limit or a small guest fee. YOUTH PE & MORE - TORRINGTON PROGRAM FEES 8 Week Classes 1x per week Facility Member: $41 Program Member: $82 2x per Week: Facility Member: $63 Program Member: $106 LITTLE KICKERS SOCCER Ages 3 to 5 Years. Children will learn basic rules, skills and sportsmanship through fun drills and games. This is an introductory class to the sport of soccer. No hands! 45 minutes. Torrington: Wednesdays 4:00 pm BIG STRIKERS SOCCER Ages 6 & Up. Children will learn advanced rules, individual skills and sportsmanship through high energy drills and games. Children should be familiar with the sport and rules of soccer through other outside programs. 45 minutes. Torrington: Wednesdays 5:00 pm LEARN TO LIFT Ages 9 to 18 Years. Teens will be instructed on multiple cardio machines, flexibility movements and strength exercises to create the perfect routine for a healthy body. Low impact movements and general healthy nutritional concepts will be used to strengthen the core, lower and upper muscles for an efficient workout with an education. Meets in the cardio room twice per week. 45 minutes. Torrington: Ages 13-18 Tuesday 4:30 pm; Ages 9-12 Fridays 4:30 pm. JUST JUMP! EXPLOSIVE TRAINING FOR YOUNG ATHLETES Ages 11-18 Years. Increase your explosive power, agility, lateral acceleration and decrease your injury risk with our safe jump training system. Our VERTIMAX technology is a sophisticated jump training platform with bands that attach to various points to the body for resistance. Using movement s specific in sport, these bands of resistance help influence total body power and acceleration for athletes. But that s not all, participants will learn strength and conditioning exercises as well. Maximum 4 participants per session. 30 minutes. Torrington: Tues & Thurs 4:00 pm NEW! LITTLE JUMPERS Ages 11-18 Years. Come join our newest program on how to jump rope with one of the Forbes Flyers! As seen on national television for their incredible stunts with jumping rope, learn the basics of skipping, double dutch and more in this fun beginner program. 60 minutes. Torrington: Saturdays 12:30 pm INTRODUCTION TO YOUTH TRIATHLON TRAINING Ages 6 to 12 Years. With the great success of our youth summer triathlon training program, we are happy to offer it to our youth in the spring. Participants will practice swimming, biking (indoors on our stationary exercise bikes) and running. The program is complete with exercises, activities and is a positive social environment that incorporates team work. Youth can choose to compete seasonal sprint triathlons as a part of the NWCTY youth triathlon team! 60 minutes Torrington: Fridays 3:30 pm YOUTH BASKETBALL Ages 6 to 12 Years. Introducing Coach C! Participants develop skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting and teamwork. More importantly, this program encourages youth to explore the game of basketball in a fun and stimulating environment. 45 minutes. Torrington: 6-8 year olds - Mondays 6:00 pm 9-12 year old - Mondays 7:00 pm GYMNASTICS KINDERNASTICS Ages 3-5 Years. Learn the basics of tumbling and cartwheels in our fun preschool class. Balance beam is introduced as well. 30 minutes. Torrington: Saturdays 9:15 am CARTWHEELIN KIDS (BEGINNER) Age 6 and Up. Learn the basics of tumbling and cartwheels in our fun gymnastics beginner class. Balance beam skills are included as well. 45 minutes. Torrington: Saturdays 9:45 am LITTLE FLIPPERS (INTERMEDIATE) Age 6 and Up. Learn more challenging skills like round-offs and back hand springs. Participants must have completed Cartwheelin Kids to attend this course. 45 minutes. Torrington: Saturdays 10:30 am AWESOME AERIALS (ADVANCED) Age 8 and Up. This class is for our advanced young gymnasts who are ready to take on some of the sport s more technical and advanced moves and challenges. 45 minutes. YOUTH PE & MORE - CANAAN MOM & TOT BOOT CAMP & SWIM NEW! Want to work out more but having trouble leaving the little one? Well, this class is perfect for you as it is everything both mom and the youngster could want. Thursdays are spent in the pool with a parent and tot swim class where the child will get their first lessons on how to swim. The swim class is also desinged to help reduce the risk of youth drowning. On Fridays, moms will take part in a boot camp class while the kids stay entertained during their workout. You can choose to take 1 class or both. Canaan: Facility Member: 1x week $40 2x week $69 Program Member: 1x week $63 2x week $120 ART, SWIM & GYM Change up your after school routine and join the Canaan Y s Art, Swim & Gym program - a 1 or 2 days per week combination of arts & crafts, homework time, exercise and a free swim - assuring that each has the opportunity to burn off that extra energy, keeping both their mind and bodies healthy. For NCES kids, a bus will drop them off at the Y. Participants must complete a swim test on their first day. The body is primed for new information and ready to ingrain new movement patterns. This youth program is conducted in 60 minute sessions and designed to introduce and create foundations of overall athleticism in a fun, positive, and high-success environment. PRESCHOOL AQUATICS PARENT/CHILD WITH SELF RESCUE These classes are designed to help reduce youth drowning. Children will learn skills that help them stay afloat, swim to the edge of the pool and how to call for help when falling into water. PARENT / TOT Ages 6 Months to 18 Months. Experience exploring the water through introduction of water adjustment skills, songs, games, and fun. This class is designed for the child who is very new to the water and is not ready to start working on their own. One or both parents must accompany the child in the water. Fee: Facility Member: $99 DIABETES PREVENTION A 12 Month program The YMCA s Diabetes Prevention Program, with registration now taking place for its next session beginning in August, helps adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a modest amount of weight in order to reduce their chances of developing the disease. Research by the National Institutes of Health has shown that programs like the YMCA s Diabetes Prevention Program can reduce the number of new cases of type 2 diabetes by 58% and 71% in adults over age 60. About the Program In a classroom setting, (class held at the Torrington Area Health District) a trained lifestyle coach will facilitate a small group of participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes over 25 sessions. The year-long program consists of 16 weekly sessions and three sessions every other week during the first six months followed by 6 monthly sessions. The goal of the program is to reduce 5-7% body weight and increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week. Do You Qualify? To participate in the program, you must be: 18 years or older; overweight (BMI > 25); and diagnosed with predaibetes via a qualifying risk score of 9 or higher. How to Register Fee: $429.
