In addition to the Rio Grande, Kau Tapen guests can explore 22 miles of the Menendez River. This smaller, technical tributary is perfect for floating lines and single-hand and switch rods. Although its fish aren t any smaller! LOCATION au Tapen is located on the Rio KGrande in the Province of Tierra del Fuego. The lodge is located on the Estancia Retranca in the heart of Patagonia. Anglers fly into Buenos Aires International Airport and take a 3 hour non-stop flight to Rio Grande. The transfer from the Rio Grande Airport to the Lodge, by four wheel drive, takes 1 hour. 1-800-530-6928
THE FISHING t Kau Tapen we fish for Sea-Run ABrown Trout weighing an average of 7 lbs and ascending to 30+ lbs. We fish on 22km the Rio Grande with private access. The river offers easy wading on fine gravel boeom. Tackle: Single-handed (7-9 wts., 9-10 ft.) and two-handed rods (7-8 wts. 12-15ft.). Flies: small salmon dry flies, nymphs, and traditional salmon and Sea Run Trout wet flies for the main river Lines: floating lines and sink tips or quick sink tips - depending on water conditions Fishing schedule: 8:00 am Breakfast 9:00 am Depart for fishing 1:00 pm Lunch and Siesta 4:00 pm Fish till dusk The schedule will depend on the season and can be tailored to meet the preference of our guests.
