Race Director s Message As the former Race Director of the Tour de Terra Cotta, I am proud to introduce the Tour de Caledon, a premier cycling event with race options for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Putting together a race of this magnitude would not be possible without the great support of our sponsors. Please take a moment to visit their website or better yet, support them by purchasing their products or services. In addition, we have assembled a group of experienced and knowledgeable volunteers and because of their enthusiasm and dedication that we plan on making this race a yearly tradition in Caledon. We have aimed to keep all of the things that racers indicated that they liked in previous races that we have run, like closed roads (no yellow line rule), a quality course, great road surface and strong volunteer base. We are also always looking at ways to and make improvements that will enhance the overall experience for participants, spectators and volunteers. The race will be run in Caledon East. We will be using the Caledon East Recreation Centre (CERC), which allows for easy and ample parking for participants, spectators and volunteers. This location will also speed up the registration process. From the CERC there are plenty of roads that can be used to warm-up. Importantly, using the CERC will allow us access to indoor washrooms! We are following a tried and proven race schedule, allowing all ages and abilities to have an amazing day. While the list of charities that will receive the net proceeds is not yet fully finalized, these charities will be receiving support from the Tour de Caledon. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel and Halton we will buy bikes, helmets, and locks for deserving little brothers and sisters in Peel and Halton The Paula Coats Memorial Scholarship we will contribute $1,000 scholarships to three deserving students in Caledon as they pursue post-secondary education The Dave Rutherford Memorial Scholarship we will donate to a trades school in the name of Dave Rutherford, past event director of the Tour de Terra Cotta and Caledon s 2015 volunteer of the year Kerry s Place Kerry s Place enhances the quality of life for persons with autism spectrum disorder and to empower them and their families, through evidenced-based, innovative and person-directed supports. We will contribute to this worthy cause. Palgrave and Bolton Rotary Club - Palgrave and Bolton Rotary members are dedicated to making the world a better place by having a positive impact on projects locally, nationally and internationally. We anticipate that we will be able to do substantially more based on sponsorship levels and racer participation. As the financial picture becomes clearer we will keep you updated on our charitable efforts. We look forward to your participation in this year s event. Continued safe cycling and may the wind always be at your back. Brad Hains Race Director Tour de Caledon Updated: January 9, 2018 2

All riders must go to registration in the Forge Pavilion at least 40 minutes before the start of their event. 15 minutes before race time all riders will proceed to the staging area described above. All riders (or parent/guardians) are required to sign the OCA and Cycling Canada waivers, unless they have an OCA issued license. There will be OCA licensed Commissaires officiating at this event. There will not be any team vehicles permitted on the course. It is the rider s responsibility to have a mechanically sound bicycle for all races. The Age Group Category Results will be posted in the awards area on the grounds of Robert F Hall school as soon as possible after the race. Awards will be presented shortly after each race.
