Clinic News Important Please remember to pick up any medication (prescription or nonprescription) your child may have in the clinic by 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017. Any medication left in the clinic at the end of that day will be discarded. Also, remember that a new Medication Authorization form and/or Health Care Plan for your child will have to be completed by you and your physician for the 2017-2018 school year. End of the Year Textbook Returns Any students who have checked out textbooks during the year should return them to the Media Center as soon as they are no longer needed. The final day to turn them in is Wednesday, May 24th. Any lost textbooks must be paid for by the parent or guardian at current prices prior to that day.
Page 2 8th Grade AMMS Carnival Themed Dance Attention 8 th graders! Come to the biggest party of the year and your LAST at Autrey Mill! The 8 th grade dance and party will be on Wednesday, May 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This is the night before the last day of school. This year s dance party will be IN THE GYM! The dress is party attire non-formal dresses for girls and button down shirts for the guys. Please observe the dress code. Our theme this year is CARNIVAL! We are bringing a carnival into the gym with DJ Melvin on the stage, a midway of carnival games, green screen photos, carnival entertainment and pizza, popcorn, and cotton candy. There will also be a TRAIN outside with rides for all! There will be lots of surprises, so you don t want to miss it! At the end of the evening, we will show the 8 th grade farewell DVD made by your teachers. The dance is FREE to 8 th graders. No need to buy a ticket or bring money. Only 8 th graders at AMMS may attend. No friends or family members/parents, please. It s CARNIVAL time! For those students who participated breakfast will be served and art will be displayed on Thursday, May 11th at 8:00 am. It will be a very busy couple of weeks until the end of school. Students will be participating in all kinds of testing and activities. Please REMEMBER to send a note if you plan to check your student out and we will have them waiting for you in the front office! Soon a list will be posted in your child s homeroom to indicate and verify that a book has been purchased in his/her name. Once those lists are ready, we will make an announcement that the extra books will be available for sale in the morning between 8:30 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. These books will be sold on a first come, first served basis for $45.00 cash or check made out to Josten s. If this is something that your family is planning, please let the Counseling Office know. There is not a formal withdrawal process once the school year ends, but it is helpful to know which students are not returning and where they are going. Students must return all books and pay any late fines to the media center in order to participate in end of year activities. Lost and Found Items Lost and found will be cleaned out and on a table in the front rotunda on Friday, May 12th. Please have your student check for missing items before May 24th. The remaining items will be given to NFCC. The Audition Big Success! A big shout out to everyone who participated in the production of The Audition. The ipad plays an important role during instruction, therefor it is important that it is ready for use at the start of the day. Make sure you have your ipad fully charged for testing. ipad Information: As we near the end of the school year, we need to make sure student ipads are ready for testing and end of year collection. Page 8 Community News City of Johns Creek Comprehensive Plan The City of Johns Creek is currently updating its Comprehensive Plan and would like your input regarding future transportation, commercial, and residential development needs. The draft plan will be available June 1st and the City needs your feedback. Based on feedback from residents and stakeholders who have participated in meetings, workshops, and surveys, the City has proposed the following goals: Goal 1: Create a citywide multi-modal transportation network. Reduce traffic congestion. Connect neighborhoods and schools. Goal 2: Create an identity for the City. Preserve existing character of residential neighborhoods as a guide for future development. Goal 3: Expand the City s economic base. Goal 4: Provide superior recreational and cultural activities throughout the City. Positively engage our diverse population. Goal 5: Develop tools needed to implement goals. Revise the Zoning Ordinance and Development regulations. View the proposed Johns Creek Character Map as well as the existing Johns Creek Land Use Map. Page 10 JCHS Girls Lacrosse Johns Creek Jr. Gladiators Girls Lacrosse will open registration for the fall season in July 2017 to all girls entering 4th through 8th grades who live in the JCHS attendance zone. The fall season is recreational with placement on teams based upon grade level in the 2017-18 school year. Fall season begins shortly after school starts in August. Practice will occur twice a week with games on weekends (Saturdays and/or Sundays, depending on schedule). This is a great time for new players to begin the sport.
