- Ottawa Senators Season in Review A Look Back on the Playoffs PLAYOFFS RECAP: The Ottawa Senators defeated the Philadelphia Flyers - in their Eastern Conference Quarter-Final series for the team s first series victory since defeating New Jersey in 998 The Senators were then defeated - by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals The loss marked Ottawa s third consecutive loss to Toronto The Senators participation in the playoffs marked their sixth consecutive trip to the post-season (best among Canadian teams) The Senators now have a -6 all-time series record in the playoffs. McCOOL AND THE GANG: Patrick Lalime became the fifth goaltender in postseason history to record thee consecutive shutouts when he defeated the Philadelphia Flyers - in three consecutive games (Apr, Apr, Apr ) The record was first set by Clint Benedict of the 96 Montreal Maroons, then matched by John Ross Roach (99, New York Rangers), Frank McCool (9, Toronto Maple Leafs), and Brent Johnson (Apr,, St. Louis). FAB FIVE: Ottawa recorded their longest post-season winning streak of five games from Apr to May,... Three Senators rode point streaks as the team won five straight Daniel Alfredsson (-), Radek Bonk (-) and Marian Hossa (-) all registered points during the Senators win streak Ottawa s previous longest winning streak was two games, accomplished on two separate occasions, most recently from Apr -9, against Toronto). - Ottawa Senators Season in Review THREE'S COMPANY: The Senators' three consecutive - victories in Games, and of the Eastern Conference Quarter-Final against Philadelphia represented the first time Ottawa posted three straight shutouts in either the regular or post-season and also the first time Ottawa has ever won three straight playoff games...
