The indica on and the electrical opera ons are calibrated to the gas density (isochore) according to the rela on pressuretemperature. The.M5 model is suitable for indoor installa on while the.m6 model has been designed for the outdoor installa on as well. The oil filled execu ons are par cularly suitable for installa on when vibra ons are apparent. Accuracy of indication (referred to the instruments range): ±% at +0 C of ambient temperature; ±.5% within the temperature range -0... C related to the calibration pressure of the reference isochore. This means that these instruments should be installed so that their opera ng temperature corresponds to the one of the monitored gas. These new instruments are especially designed for every single applica on in order to measure the gas density. WHY MONIT ORING TH SF 6 GAS The essen al material proper es of SF 6 gas for such applica ons depend on the density of SF 6 gas. For example the SF 6 gas during the liquid phase, looses many of its insula ng proper es. This means that the func onal safety of the en re system is strongly dependent on the density of the SF 6 gas which is why it must be monitored. Density isochore Liquid Pressure to be compensated GAS ISOCHOR In closed gas systems the gas pressure is dependent on the gas temperature.this varia on can be represented on a diagram pressure/temperature with lines of equal density called isochores. (Fig.) Temperature varia on DNSITY MONITORS In order to work properly, the pressure gauges for gas monitoring have to detect the gas temperature as well, and use it to compensate the pressure varia ons due to the temperature varia ons. The ordinary pressure gauges with electric contacts are not able to carry out such a compensa on so they are not suitable for this DFINITION OF SSNTIAL TRMS C A L I B R A T I O N T M P R A T U R ( r e fe r e n c e ) - The calibra on temperature is the reference temperature required to find the elements required for a correct calibra on. The ambient temperature of +0 C is commonly considered as reference temperature. AMBINT TMPRATUR RANG - TA The ambient temperature range is the temperature range wthin the instruments must compensate the pressure devia ons due to gas temperature varia ons. FILLING PRSSUR -PF The filling pressure is the nominal filling pressure of the gas systems closed at the reference temperature (CT) of +0 C. This informa on is required to dimension correctly the instrument scale range. OPRATING CONDITIONS -0 +0 INDICATION AND OPRATION ACCURACY very single instrument is adjusted individually at its calibra on pressure in order to achieve an accurcy of +-% of the v.f.s. at +0 C. The compensa on adjustment allows to limit the error due to the SF 6 gas temperature varia on within +-5% of the v.f.s. in the temperature range of -0... C. (Fig.). CALIBRATION PRSSUR - The calibra on pressure defines the reference isochore for temperature compensa on. The calibra on pressure must be indicated at the calibra on temperature (CT) of 0 C. CONTACTS SWIHING POINT (ST) - The switching point defines the adjusted switching pressure of the contact at gas temperature +0 C. TMPRATUR The temperature required for compensa on is taken inside the instruments. OPRATING CALIBRATION ISOCHOR For example if we select a much lower opera ng pressure than the calibra on pressure, we will have to add to the compensa on error to the error due to the different gradient of the opera ng isochore (Fig.4). In this way in case of extreme temperatures (i.s.-0 C) the indica on and the opera on would be inaccurate. Relevant differences between calibra on pressure and opera ng pressure mean isochores with very different gradients. Since it is possible to calibrate the compensa on in one isochore, the calibra on pressure must be as closer as possible to the opera ng pressure of the contact switching point. (Fig.3) In this way the isochore related to the opera ng pressure is included in the compensated maximum errors. In order to avoid any tampering of the electrical opera ng adjustment, all contacts are sealed. The SF 6 gas density monitors produced by Leitenberger are individually tested in order to assure perfect working and reliability during measurement me and opera on condi ons. In order to assure the perfect ghtness of the system on which the instrument is mounted, every instrument is checked with a helium mass spectrometer to a max escape rate of.0 mbar.l/s - 0 AVAVAILABL MODLS Beside the main models described below, Leitenberger will be pleased to develop special models on any customer s request.
